We have been going to Chuey's weekly (some weeks more) for over 2 years now. Melissa (the hostess with the mostest) and Keshaun (best waiter ever) take care of us better than anywhere else we eat along with all the staff we've come to know. The food is outstanding and consistently made. I'm a queso fan and Chuey's is the best. Made from scratch and not like those white quesos that taste the same all over. The kids love the decor and particularly like all the dog pictures in the bar. We have fun seeing all the regulars that come on the same night we do. Don't miss out...go order the queso! read more

Finding good service these days is like finding a needle in a haystack. Well, we've found the needle 2x here!!! Not only do we love the food but we LOVE the service. The kindness and attention to detail that both servers have given us (the past two times) has gone above and beyond. They were attentive, talked to us (talked to our little boys), and hooked us up with little things like an extra push pop for our kiddo (our 2 boys split a kids meal) and didn't charge us for the extra kid sprite. It's the little things like that that go a long way. When servers do that, I tip them extra! Zoe and Bryceton are top notch servers!!! Great Tex Mex, I'm from Texas where I first had Chuy's. The chimichanga is a MUST here. Get boom boom sauce on the side with it. The chimichanga is fried flaky burrito goodness with a delicious sauce on top. Not a huge fan of the rice and beans that most dishes come with here. Manager there informed me that you can substitute these for a side salad. The complimentary appetizer chips and dips are tasty as well. Salsa is very fresh and lots of people enjoy the creamy jalapeño dip. If you are lucky, chips will come out hot! However I advise against the veggie enchiladas. Not tasty, sauce does not taste good and I didn't like that it had long sliced bell peppers inside. The Chile relleno is good, it is a fried pepper stuffed with cheese. Our small group of four dined here this evening. It was a first for two of my friends. I encouraged the stop because we were looking for a quick, non-fast food type dinner. Plus, I love their fresh tortillas. Typically we will look for non-chain places, but my friends were pleasantly surprised. The staff wasn't initially the quickest to come to our table to take out orders, but once they did, our drinks and a basket of fresh, lightly salted chips with house-made salsa came lightening fast. The guys were driving and had coke zeroes and waters. I opted for a froze raspberry margarita and my friend a froze peach sangria. She absolutely loved hers. Mine was a little tart, as raspberry usually is, but it was tasty as well. Our food came quickly. Everyone's food was correct, and hot and fresh. The portions are on point and prices are reasonable. The server checked on us an appropriate amount of times and she had another young man who assisted her with our service as well. We certainly felt well attended to. Our friends, not having been to a Chuy's before are now looking forward to trying one when we return home. We had a fabulous dinner. We left full and feeling like we had a great dinner. The servers and the staff at the door and the bar tender all did excellent. I would like to give them extra kudos, perhaps, especially since so many service staff don't get credit these days. We come here every couple months because we really enjoy the food. However the past couple times we've come, the service seems off. Last visit, we were quoted at 10-15 for a pickup order and it took almost 40, and the order wasn't 100% correct. Today, we went in hoping to dine on the patio because the weather was beautiful and warm, But they told us there were no servers for it. So we placed the very same order again to-go, and once we got home, we realized it was wrong. Called the restaurant twice to talk to a manager and was on hold for almost 15 minutes. So now we have to drive 20 minutes back there and 20 minutes back home. It's not worth the hassle every visit so we won't be back for a long while, if ever. read more

Yesterday I was severed the worst Quesadilla i have ever had - the flour tortilla was very thick and it looked like it was laid in the deep fryer - very greasy - very little chicken and peppers - lots of cheese. the chips and salsa were good i will not be returning to this location. read more

Well I came back alright and it will be the last time. I guess they were fairly new when I went before. Didn't get that ranch based sauce with the chips and my vegetarian combo was very lackluster in flavor. No more super tasty rice! Just run of the mill typical food that needed seasoning. After my second visit at Chuy's I realized that it was the food I didn't like. authentic Mexican restaurants has me completely hooked. My first visit, we ordered the chicken fajitas, it was nothing to write home to my mother about and just not memorable at all. I ordered a frozen Margarita, lime & mango, it was really good. My second visit I order the taco and enchiladas combination plate. I was completely unimpressed. The beans, the sauce the enchiladas was in, and also the enchilada, were all a no go for me. The salsa was the only good thing. Hulk was our server and he completely rocked it, he got us in and out in a timely manner during the lunch rush, he was funny and very attentive, he and the welcoming staff standing at the front door is the reason for the 3 stars given. We went there the Sunday after they opened and while the food was great, the service was not. It seemed they were still getting their act together and training folks that were new to waiting on tables. We let the manager know, decided to give them a few days and tried again. Our second experience was wonderful. The food was still great and the service was top notch. Dalton and Henry were all over it making recommendations, right there to give us more chips and refill our drinks and also letting us in on the little "secrets" of the restaurant (e.g. request the creamy jalapeno dip in addition to the salsa). One of them was "in training" so they were working together to make sure they got it right. In addition, they had others watching from elsewhere in the dining room to ensure things were working smoothly. We talked to the manager (Michael) to let him know and he was genuinely appreciative to hear it. Prices are reasonable, the quality is fresh and the portions are huge. My wife ordered the steak fajitas and had plenty to take home for a second meal. It tasted just as good the next day. Here are a few tips; 1. Ask for the creamy jalapeno dip 2. Steak fajitas are the bomb - marinated 24 hours and super tender 3. Chile Rellenos - made fresh and not frozen, lightly fried and full of yummy goodness 4. They have mini bowling pins hidden in the restaurant - see how many you can find 5. Chicken - try grilled over pulled. Both are good but grilled is better. 6. Comida Deluxe - huge platter with lots of variety 7. Fresh made tortillas - go see them being made 8. Choose the green hatch chile rice over Mexican rice (it is a bit spicy) 9. Pretty decent Tex-Mex overall. Three stars bumped up to four. A group of fifteen from my office showed up, with prior notice. We were seated fairly quickly. Right off, I have to say that our single server for this large group was outstanding. We even had one person show up ten minutes or so after everyone had placed their food order and she still got her tacos with the rest of us. Bravo. Chuy's apparently started in Austin, 1982, when I was going to UT. So, I probably ate there at least once. I have to think that their original restaurant thirty-two years ago probably bore little resemblance to what the Chuy's franchise is now. Or maybe it did, I can't remember. I was under the influence most of the time back then. Whatever the heritage, the space in the Kennesaw Chuy's is a bit cliché bordering on tacky, but that's actually OK. It's not boring. I'll put this on a separate line: there was no loud music! Yay! They get an extra star for that. We actually had the ability to converse, and we did. On to the food. Chile relleno is breaded, unlike most which are battered - not very spicy but tasty. I ordered the cheese version. Chicken enchilada - a little dry but still good. Perhaps putting some of the sauce (or more of the sauce) inside the enchilada would lessen the dryness but it's not a big deal. Hatch green chile sauce - drizzled on relleno and enchilada - not enough so I didn't get a sense of the sauce's flavor. I really like Hatch chiles, particularly the hotter version. I don't think Chuy's uses the hotter version. Creamy jalapeno chip sauce - basically ranch that was briefly introduced to a jalapeno chile. Ranch is one of my favorite chip dipping sauces, probably because that's what we served in the restaurant where I worked in Austin in 1982. I lived on chips & ranch. Charro beans - really good. Queso - an acceptable version. Many at our table drizzled it over their entrée. Very popular. Guacamole - average, maybe less so. The bowl had shredded lettuce at the bottom which made it seem like more but also made it hard to scoop with chips. I'd prefer they left out the lettuce. Not much flavor. Unlimited Diet Coke refills - including an unasked for to-go drink. OK, I guess, but the drink is still sitting on my desk at work, undrunk. A bit of a waste. I didn't poll my tablemates for their opinions - because I don't do that - but one of my co-workers who knows I Yelp remarked that his meal was good quality but needed more kick. Mind you, this is the guy who always takes some of my garden chile peppers when I bring them in. And I grow the super-hot variety. So, he's damaged goods as far as being able to judge picante. My daughter called last night during her brothers birthday celebration to express an issue with a large order we made. She drove to the Kennesaw Location today and left feeling humiliated by the manager on duty tonight at 3/18. If you prefer to support businesses that humiliate our youth that will organize and vouch for their siblings birthday celebrations, I would regretfully recommend this establishment. A refund was never requested. A recook was never originally requested until it was then offered to my daughter. The kids love this restaurant but we refuse to continue to support this branch. First time here this weekend. We were greeted very warmly, and the place is really unique. I had the pomegranate margarita, and it was epic. Very pure, no mix, all fresh ingredients and good tequila. While we waited for our order, we had chips, fresh salsa, and a jalapeño dip. I decided on the grilled fish tacos, and they were so amazingly delicious. Perfectly cooked fish, crunchy cabbage, fresh cilantro. On the side was pico, beans, and their homemade rice. Really good. Our waiter was Jeff, and he treated us quite well. As we left, we inquired about having a large party there for an event. The manager, Javier, was very friendly and professional and gave us all the information we needed. I was surprised at how reasonable the pricing was for a food bar. And they have a private room. This place is great for couples and families. Not overly loud. Lots of good natural light on one side of the restaurant and a warmer ambience in the other area of the restaurant. Cool decor and a very friendly staff. On a late weekday afternoon, we ordered two take out dinners and the guacamole appetizer. Sadly, the chips with the guac were so overwhelmed with salt that we threw them in the garbage. Brushing off each chip was not a practical option!
