Ate here last night, and it was an overall great experience. Server was friendly and knowledgeable about the different food options. All of our food was correct and hot (thank you kitchen staff). What a fantastic evening with the work crew. Came here on a suggestion from a local and it was well worth it. I loved the vibe of this place. Very bright and fun. Lots to look at. The menu was simple but everything was delicious. The chips are light and crisp and not at all too greasy. The salsa at the table was fantastic in flavor but not quite spicy enough for my tastes, but that doesn't make it bad. The food is way to spicy. When they first open they used to let you do a taste test on samples of the sauces they had, but not anymore. The chips are nice and hot but to salty. And there is nothing really on the menu that sounds good. read more

Outstanding! Walked into the restaurant and was immediately greeted by the hostess, who promptly sat us. Our server was at the table within two minutes introduced himself and asked what we'd like to drink. He delivered our drinks and brought some really fresh chips and one kicking pico dip. I had the chicken quesadilla which was served in four pieces with a dab of guacamole on one side of the plate and sour cream on the opposite side, in the middle was a great pico and lettuce mix. The plate presentation was very appealing. My guest had the sirloin burrito with queso and the portions were really large. Again another plate that was as good as it looked. We didn't stuff ourselves because I wanted to try the tres leches..it's one of my favorite desserts which I've had at several different eateries. The presentation was beautiful the cake was moist and the server brought two spoons so both myself and my guest could try this fantastic dessert. I was skeptical to go to this place because I'm a San Diego Mexican food snob. Obviously texmex will never be as good as San Diego Mexican food, but I was pleasantly surprised! The beans and rice were great which is telling! I had a quesadilla which is hard to screw up, but I appreciated the touch of onion and green Chile in the quesadilla. The strawberry margarita was perfect. The blackberry mojito was excellent. The chips and salsa were sufficiently salted which people in general forget to do. Salt your salsa people. So happy Chuy's had this right! Best of all, our waitress Tiana was unbelievably good. She remembered every single little thing we asked for. We asked for Serranos and jalapeños on the side of our meals and she brought us each little bowls of Serranos that had been charred (heck yeah!) and pickled jalapeños. Some like it Hot! If you enjoy spicy food this is your place. My mouth was screaming for an hour after I left. We were greeted by our waiter with salsa, chips, and some sort of creamy jalapeño dip that no matter how hot it was I couldn't seem to stop stuffing my face with as much as I tried it just kept calling out to me. Then to make matters worse I decided to order the chicka boom boom and man was I a gluten for punishment...... luckily I had a delicious new margarita to wash it all down with. I have been to the original Chuy's in Austin, and this one in Southern Indiana lacks the charm of the original. The tables are crowded together. The tables are often wobbly. The service is OK. I usually get the chicken fajitas, which are good. The queso is incredible. Everything else I have tried has been mediocre at best. They make a surprisingly good burger. Clean place and restrooms. Hostesses are consistently horrible. They don't seem to know what they are doing. Not happy to see you. Not friendly. read more

No lunch specials and everything is pretty over priced for what is give. Food is pretty underwhelming but I recommend the Elvis Presley Memorial Combo or anything with hatch green chilies. The chips will keep everyone coming back. Much like the great Indian buffets that disappeared after COVID, this place hasn't been the same since getting rid of their nacho cart served out of the trunk of an old car. We visited during green chili month. The pork belly tacos sounded amazing but I don't really like spicy so I had them put the sauce on the side. I'm glad I did because it probably would've been too much for me. I was right about the pork belly though. Yum!! I really splurged and indulged in chips and queso and their marvelous dessert as well. Their chips are light and crispy and the queso is worth seconds. Then there's that dessert. It's absolutely decadent and completely surprising at a Mexican restaurant. Went there with our 20 y.o. son. Was told we could wait in the bar. We sat down and my son ordered a water. He was asked for his ID. For water?!? We were told we had to leave. I did order a drink and took it back out to the holding pen. Eventually, we were seated. In the bar. After waiting for 10 minutes, a waitress told us we had to leave the bar. Again. She took us to a non-bar table and told us we couldn't order alcohol. 10 minutes later, I ordered alcohol. 15 minutes later, our entrees have arrived. My drink hasn't. Bartender boy pops his head in to verify it's us. Oh great. I flag her down and ask about the drink I ordered. "Oh you wanted another?" Yes, the one I ordered 15 minutes ago. She leaves. And asks what I wanted. Then leaves. We finish our entrees. I get my drink and ask for the check. 10 minutes later we got it. I was charged for 2 drinks even though I paid cash for the first one. 5 minutes to correct that, get new bill and 5 minutes to pick up card. 10 minutes to return card. If Chuy's goal was to piss off the gringo, mission accomplished. We eat regularly in this area, but never at Chuys. read more

This place needs new waitresses that can serve clients without lying. I went in sat down by bar 10 minutes. I ordered a beer and the fajita steaks. It was awful the steak looked like slop. I wouldn't even consider this a real Mexican restaurant. I asked for a knife the waitress said they don't have enough knives to go w the forks ok. So I wait and ask another waitress to please bring me a knife so I can at lease try to chomp on the slop they brought. Another 15 minutes. Finally after my food was getting cold. I asked her what the f...is going on I needed a knife. So she calls the manager and tells him I told her f. U. Which I didn't. The manager comes over and said to finish my meal and leave. I told him I'm leaving I'm not gonna stand for lying waitresses and slop they call Mexican food. It looks like an old Chevys restaurant which I thought it was cause the sign even looks like it says Chevys. It's a Chuys and I know why the call it Chuys because the steaks at least take a little of chewing to wash down. They don't even have enough knives to give customers. Pretty average Mexican food selections with attentive service. Chips are thin and crispy, obviously made in house, they're still warm and I could make a meal out of these. They offer a couple of standard sauces but you can make special requests. I added an order of the fresh Gauq. Very fresh and full of flavor. I got my standard bean and cheese burrito, its about the size of my forearm so I certainly wouldn't be leaving hungry. My friend ordered something with chicken and he said it was well seasoned. My boyfriend and I were thrilled to find Chuy's open on Easter Sunday as we were craving some mexican cuisine. The staff is super friendly and the restaurant is clean. I always LOVE the jalapeño dip appetizer but the pico is a bit too spicy for me. I could eat 3 bowls of that white jalapeño dip. The queso wasn't the best and I wish we hadn't ordered it given the price. I had the chicka chicka boom boom which was good but not great, I just wish there was more too it besides chicken in a tortilla with the sauce. I had to request sour cream to give it a little something extra. My boyfriend has the Elvis Presley combo and was not impressed - he said it lacked flavor. I'll come here anytime for some margaritas and jalapeño dip but I'm not eager to come back for anything else, based on this experience and my previous experiences. read more

I ate lunch here on 8/26/16 with a co-worker. I have to say this visit was a million times better than my last visit. Always loved going to this restaurant but my experience today put a sour taste in my mouth. The bartender, Nicole, was not attentive. And when I mentioned to her her lack of attention to details she said, "this is the best that I can do." Makes me wonder how bad is her worst. I guest she prefers to have conversations with her coworkers than pay attention to customers who pays the bills. Chuy's has become my faaave since it's come to southern indiana. it's not authentic Mexican- it's TexMex first off, the chips and salsa - ahhMaZiNG! chips are light fresh warm and salty. salsa freshly made with tons of flavor. if they don't bring u the creamy jalepeño sauce, get it. and make sure u order queso as well. it's out of this world. second, their menu loves spice. heat. kick. the sauces are what changes it up, there's about ten to choose from. the Chicken burrito with boom boom sauce - great- enchiladas blancas - great- chicken fajitas - yummmm dulce de leche - fabulous the food I've had has been great on every occasion and u could definitely consider me and my boyfriend regulars there. I can't complain really. I usually sit in the bar area, so there's no wait on a booth. I've been going to this location for years. The food has gone down in quality steadily over time. The quality and the customer service have finally bottomed out. Placed an order for delivery. When the delivery arrived, the dessert was missing, though it showed on the receipt. I noticed (through the tracking service) that the driver had made a seriously out-of-the-way detour while in route and stopped for several minutes. The only logical assumption is that the driver stopped and ate the dessert. Contacted the delivery service and was told to contact the restaurant. Chuy's manager didn't even try to address the problem and just told me to contact the delivery service. Manager was utterly worthless and just blew me off. The food I did get was barely warm and the meat in our dishes was dry as a bone. Never going to Chuy's again...anywhere...ever. read more

Chuy's is one of the go-to spots for our Friday lunch group. The food is always fresh and very tasty! The chips are absolutely delicious. They are very thin and crisp. Coupled with some of the freshest, chunkiest salsa in town makes them better. Be sure to ask for the creamy jalapeno dip (free) and you've got an unbeatable appetizer. If you go for lunch and want a smaller portion, ask for the lunch menu. They don't give them to you with the full menu. If you're there for dinner or want a larger portion, have at it, Hoss. The Chicka-chicka-boom-boom is very good with an appropriate level of spiciness. The Mexi-cobb salad is also one of my favorites. There's sure to be something on the menu that will satisfy at a reasonable price. Service is always excellent! The restaurant itself has a very fun atmosphere and is split up enough so that you don't feel like you're in a huge hall. There are TV's in the bar and strange, homemade looking art and photos up everywhere. In the back rooms, there are paintings of what I assume to be folk tales (I don't read Spanish) but I can't for the life of me figure out why a Panda would be knitting beside a polar bear and a penguin in the middle of the desert with a cobra in the background.
