We were headed to an appointment on Veteran's on my Birthday and wifey said "Where do you want to go for your Birthday dinner"? My answer is always...ALWAYS...Chuy's. Since we've been by this location a few times it made the decision easy. From the outside to the inside, Chuy's is themed very well. It's colorful, has a shaded waiting area outside, and as you approach the building you get drawn into the experience. The inside is just as vibrant as the outside, and there's so much stuff hanging from the ceiling you wonder how it stays up. There are also multiple dining areas, and the building is much bigger inside than it looks outside. The staff is constantly in motion here, and one of the cool things they do is provide your silverware in a sealed paper bag, ensuring that is has been cleaned and sanitized. Chuy's tortilla chips are amazing...no, they're fantastic...no, they're OUTSTANDING. Thin, light, and crisp, and freshly made. I've eaten chips in (and this is not an exaggeration) hundreds of Mexican restaurants. These are THE BEST, hands down. They have a (I'm guessing) sour cream based jalapeño salsa that is out of this world delicious. I ordered the steak burrito, and I was only disappointed when I was done with it. :( It was amazing, and the steak was cooked like it was in a contest. I'd have taken a picture, but it would have meant waiting to start eating it. Chuy's is also not afraid to use spice, and the steak burrito was definitely my idea of perfectly spicy. Because Wifey mentioned that it was my birthday we got some delicious warm, fresh churros in an amazing warm caramel sauce. Chuy's doesn't play the "Let's Sing Happy Birthday to the Birthday Guest" game (thankfully), but to be honest, those churros were better than a piece of birthday cake would have been anyway. The incredible jalapeño ranch would be worth five stars just by itself. But the service is excellent and the food is good and reasonably priced. My server was very friendly, helpful, and efficient. She kept my drink full and brought extra jalapeño ranch when she saw mine was nearly empty. I ordered cheese enchiladas, and they were delicious. Rice and beans were flavorful. Servings are huge! The one suggestion I have is that they need more vegetarian options. I will definitely be stopping here again when I am in the area. read more

It had been about a year since our last visit to Chuy's and they've only gotten better. I find their menu a bit on the narrow side and their fajitas quite expensive. So, I went with the Elvis Memorial Combo and learned first hand why Elvis ballooned up to 350 pounds. Three enchiladas, packed with chicken, beef, cheese and smothered in three different sauces. Then a beef taco and a side of rice, beans, lettuce and pico. I got through half of it. My wife's veggie enchiladas were equally good. Between us, our leftovers served up another meal. Service was good. Our waitress was very nice. The food was awful. Ordered a "chuychanga" (or how ever they spell it). First of all, it was NOT deep-fried. More like over-baked/over-air fried. The tortilla was so badly overcooked, it separated. When I cut into it, a flood of grease came out of it, and pooled in my plate. The beans and rice were also over-cooked. Both were dry and not edible. We go to the Louisville area a couple of times a year, and always try to find places to eat that we cannot get at home. I did not know this was a Darden owned chain before we went. If I had, I probably would have found more authentic Mex/Tex-Mex place to eat. But as I noted, the waitress was very nice. She offered to have new food brought out, but I declined, and so she had the charges removed for the bad meal. read more

So I've been here plenty of times it's just kinda the place to go to and hang out... Always loved the hot thin layered and lightly salted free chips and jalapeno cilantro dip they have. I personally wasn't fascinated with the potato chip fried green chile chicken meal but it's probably just me. I always loved their chuychanga but they changed the insides of it to be more soupy this time around instead of cheesy which, don't get me wrong if theres good reason theres no cheese in there at least you're all tryin to compensate but I really miss my stringy cheese filling, its what literally made the chuychanga worth eating. This time around I expected more from staff, like around the week before the current one I'm posting. The woman at the desk looked like... sorry to say but it looked like she was high... I'm not entirely sure but she was just way too out of it to be doing her job and what could have taken a split second turned into 30. Our waitress was the one watching this in the corner glaring which I don't blame her and she was quick, asked us every 10 minutes if we needed anything and when we asked for a good helping of those delicious chips to go she immediately went, got some small sauce cups with lids, big paper bag of chips hot n fresh and we were on our way! Mauri is our friendly waitress. She was perfect in every way. She is the main reason I'm giving 4 stars. She kept my glass replenished and was genuinely very nice and patient about everything. I ordered a ChuyChanga which had a very THICK wrap. I felt the need to use a knife to cut through it. This is unlike any other Mexican food joint I ever ate at. I'm used to a much thinner wrap and a white Mexican queso cheese sauce, rather than an orange cheddar sauce. My Chuychanga came with sour cream, lettuce, tomato and maybe some onions. I also had rice and refried beans (not very good). I'm not a fan of the Chuychanga, but to be fair, I ate it all. That's how I am wired. I just wouldn't order it again. My friends ordered a taco salad and a burrito with the same fixins I had. The guy that ordered the taco salad left half of it. Perhaps he wasn't that hungry. The guy who ordered the burrito and fixins left a little bit. I think we were all topped off. In closing, I would say that Chimichangas are my most favorite entrée to order at Mexican restaurants, but not at Chuy's. read more

My Fajitas were pretty good, although the portion was small (lunch size). Service from Dylan was great and friendly. My order came about around 4 minutes after ordering it, which has me concerned if the chicken was cooked in advance which would explain why it was a little dry, but otherwise all was good and I would return. My only complaint and the reason for deducting one star is if you look at their receipt, they are calculating the tip after tax. The universal standard is tips should be calculated pre-tax as you do not tip on government taxes. I find this practice deceptive and misleading, resulting in people who think they are already tipping a generous percentage are spending even more money. read more

You get a platter of large cut tortilla crisps with choice of meat (we ordered steak), along with cheese, tomatoes, onion, guacamole, lettuce, and jalapeño. These are to die for, we order them almost every visit. For dinner I had The Elvis, a combo meal featuring three types of enchiladas; beef, cheese, and chicken, with traditional enchilada sauce, tomatillo, and mole. The food was not hot, a bit on the greasy side, the sauces watered down and service was slow and inattentive. The portions were okay but not to the value. The became more concerned towards the hinting about what to leave for a tip. They tried to seat us next to loud family as most tables were reserved but over a long period of time the never seated any one. Go figure . We will go somewhere else next time. read more

Waited for a table over 20 minutes when not busy.. found out why when the server turned a dinner into almost two hour experience. The food was mediocre even considering the Tex Mex style. I ordered chicken enchiladas. There was a large bone inside! Not okay. The drinks we ordered were expensive and gross. Never got offered another one and by time she came around at the end we weren't adding anything else. Had to wait longer for boxes than didn't bring amount asked for so had to wait again. We ate outdoors and the business was steady, a popular spot. Great chips, pico and jalapeño ranch dip! I heard a lot of good comments about the queso but no one at our table ordered that item. A popular item seemed to be the chicka chicka boom but I went with the taco salad with the sirloin and a side of the jalapeño ranch dressing. The staff were very friendly and kept the chips coming while we waited. The wait wasn't long and my salad was on point! So fresh and the shell was perfect! First time eating at Chuy's since the start of the pandemic. Lunch on the patio. We've called a couple times asking if the patio is open. Each time we've been told it was not open due to lack of having enough staff to serve the patio. Yesterday we were headed to a different restaurant, but when we passed Chuy's we noticed people dining on the patio. We diverted to Chuy's! Unfortunately, Chuy's is still operating on a very limited menu. My wife's favorite is available, but my favorites were not available. Additionally, they were out of Dos Eqquis draft. Bummer! My wife had the Tacos El Carbon (chicken) one of her favorites. She said it was as good as she remembered. Since none of my favorites are on the limited menu, I went with the Boom Boom Chicken burrito. Once again, my favorite side, Charro Beans, is not currently available. I had to stay with the regular sides of rice and refried beans. My meal was just OK, not really a fan. The Boom Boom sauce is pretty tasty, but the chicken in the burrito was dry. Additionally, there's very few places I like their refried beans, and these were not the exception. Beans were also dry and mealy. We were very happy to get back to Chuy's and even happier to find our favorite server/bartender is still there! Service was great. Hopefully in the near future they'll be able to expand the menu AND get restocked with their draft beers. read more

Two of us visited Chuy's last Thursday evening. They were pretty busy for a weeknight and the hostess seated us in the bar area which was fine with us. The bartender was doubling as server and she did an amazing job. She brought chips and dips to us when she came to get drink orders and returned promptly with our waters. We both ordered the beef burrito with queso and rice on side. The food was delivered quickly and it was hot! It was very generous portion and the food quality was very good. Our server continued to check in on us and bring refills and chips/dip while we chatted after dinner. I love this place and will return often read more

I first experienced Chuy's while living in GA. The Veterans Pkwy location makes my second. I was not overly impressed with Chuy's in GA and this visit was no different. I do like their thin and crispy tortilla chips and the creamy jalapeño dip. Other than these two items, what I tried was very average. I made a meal out of the Appetizer Plate that was large in size and plenty to feed more than myself: Chile Con Queso, nachos, deluxe quesadillas, chicken flautas, guacamole & sour cream. I intentionally ordered the sampler in hopes of trying a variety and finding something I would enjoy and return to a future visit, considering I really didn't like my meal at the GA location. I was giving it a second chance. The service is friendly and timely. They do provide two different sauces: creamy jalapeño and your typical red salsa, which is decent. read more

The queso is very good as well. I do prefer my salsa to be minced rather than chunky but still tasty! The rice was very bland, not seasoned much at all.
