Loud is the first thing that comes to mind. You feel like you almost have to yell to for your dining partners to hear you. The food is ok, nothing special, and a bit overpriced for what it is. Had the Mucho Burrito and it was nice. The nachos come with two salsas, a traditional and creamy jalapeño, LOVE the jalapeño. It's getting 4 instead of 5 because of the state of the bathrooms. We eat at this Chuy's frequently and have had good experiences the majority of the time. We often sit outside to enjoy the view or grab a seat at the bar if we are in a hurry. Food is good. We have had great service by Syndey on more than one occassion. She is really good about making sure everything is just right and will make extra effort to fix whatever is not right. read more

Went while visiting my daughter this past weekend, mid afternoon. There was a 40+ party near us that had been seated a little bit before us. I knew we would be waiting extra long for our food. The salsa and chips were good, and it took a while to get our hot queso dip, which was good. I ordered the chili rellenos. My daughter had the chimichanga. After waiting a while, we got our food. The portions were huge. I was shocked at the fact that my chile relleno was totally tasteless! No flavor at all, until the end where the seeds are. I cut into the second one, and discovered a long black hair in the food. Since I am blonde, I knew it wasn't mine. Our server was helping the big party. I knew by reporting the hair, I would have to wait a while to get it replaced. By that time, I was tired of the noisy party, and wanted to go. I was in Birmingham for a business trip and went looking for a good bite on a Monday night. We walked in and the place was full of people but we were seated in no time. Soon after that, our waitress Tiffany came over and explained to us the variety of different sauces and I ordered the Chicka Chicka boom boom. The combination of the fresh tortilla, tender chicken and that sauce, that dish was flavorful. We also enjoyed their chips and salsa especially the Jalapeno cream sauce, that sauce is money. Typically, Chuy's is one of my favorite places to eat when I come back to Birmingham. The food is always excellent but the past few times i've been, the service has lacked in quality. Yesterday, we were there for lunch and were waited on by Shane. We received, possibly, the worst service i've ever had at any Birmingham restaurant. Our server never refilled our drinks, rolled his eyes when we asked for the jalapeño ranch dip(which is always great), and shorted us change, "couldn't print a receipt", and acted like he didn't do anything wrong. I have visited this location a few times and it has gotten progressively worse each visit. We arrived at 6:10 pm, requested a booth for a party of 2, were told they would clean one up and it would only take "a few minutes". During that "few (10 at least)" minutes, there were 3 or 4 large parties that were seated ahead of us. At that point, I decided to get seated at a table. I must say the way those chairs are slammed right next to one another - you can hear everyone's conversations. At any rate, I was extremely disappointed in the appearance of the establishment. It was messy, trash everywhere, and not a single employee seemed to notice or mind. Our server finally came to take our drink order (we waited about 7 or 8 minutes) and I requested some queso dip. She returned at least 5 minutes later with our drinks, but no queso. After almost 10 minutes, she brought out the dip and it had the film on top (where it has been sitting too long). A few more minutes passed and we FINALLY able to order our entrees. Then, a couple was seated to our right. Their drink orders were taken promptly as well as their entrees. After a total of at least 45 minutes, we were served our dinner. My fajitas were not sizzling, my "dressings" were half melted, and my husband's plate was so hot from sitting under the warmer too long. Just following our entrees being delivered, the table to our right received theirs. We should NEVER have had to wait that long for our food. Our server never cleared items from our SMALL table and I was forced to place certain rings in the floor for more room. The waiting time did not stop there. It took another 20 minutes for us to get our check, get boxes, pay, and sign the receipt. I will NEVER return to this location again! I hardly doubt Chuy's corporate would approve of this horrible establishment. I can only hope the Huntsville location will at the very least, meet the standards of the company. read more

We arrived at 6:30 on a Thursday night. Seated around 7. Ordered fairly quickly - what you would expect. Our food arrived at 8:15. Unacceptably slow. It was slightly above average, but nothing to rave about and certainly not worth the wait. The view is excellent. I suggest you park there, spend 15 minutes taking in the view and then driving to any one of the other Mexican restaurants in the area for a meal. You will save a lot of time.
