Chicken Sandwich (Original)
Monique T.

OK - we do not have a a Popeyes in Wilmington so after sifting through many chicken sandwich reviews online the verdict was that CC has a chicken sandwich that rivals Popeyes, and let me just say it did not disappoint! Juicy, crunchy, extra pickles *check* and a surprisingly slightly sweet bun. Note: This is also the only place I can get fried gizzards too. Do not let the appearance or lot upkeep deter you from eating here, the staff is lovely and the food was fresh, hot and not lacking in flavor.

A big screen on the wall showed sea life, and a huge screen on the bar ceiling showed jellyfish when you looked up. The wait time was extremely long due to other events in the area, but when seated Jessica was our server. We started with a Tequila Paloma and Sangria; then came the Chips and Salsa. The chips had an amazing crunch to them and were great in texture and flavor. The Ceviche Perla Negra came out next, and the portion size was gigantic enough for 4. The flavors all complemented each other, and it went well with the chips. The oysters came next, and I'm not sure what type they were, but we will pass on those next time. Then the next drinks were a Mojito and Tequila Hypnotica. The drinks were beautiful, but my Hypnotica was a bit sweet but very potent. The Aguachile de Ribeye came out, and the table was full of food now and nowhere to maneuver. We had the salsa verde that was very acidic and the negra that was very savory. I loved both sauces, and the meat was cooked to perfection. At this point, we could not walk due to the extremely large portion sizes and did not make it to the main course, so we settled for 2 Victoria's and a très lèches. Throughout the whole experience, there was singing and laughing and lots of birthdays and events. The place was alive, and Jessica was fantastic; she made some solid recommendations, and even though the place was busy, she checked on us frequently. Food came out very fast, and so did the drinks. We can't wait to make another trip to try their main courses.

There ceilings and areas are surrounded by beautiful flowers and foliage. When we first stepped in we saw a birthday celebration in the restaurant and an overcrowded restaurant. An introverts beautiful nightmare yet foodie delight. Being surrounded by a group of quiet introverts- my in laws & husbands , there were tense emotions immediately: surprise, shock, dissatisfaction, and pleasure at the loud and festive ambience in the restaurants. The restaurant was super crowded on a Wednesday in Mid July and buzzing with cheer & constant noise. Instead of singing the customary happy birthday song, waiters were screaming "shots shots shots" followed by a congregation of clapping and sounds of approval from the crowds. A large wall screen would display personalized happy birthday greetings. There were probably 7 birthday celebrations during our time there. The menu offered drinks and food entrees I haven't seen in most Mexican restaurants. All of us were highly satisfied with the food we ordered. Two of us ordered burritos that were the size of cats and delicious AF. I ordered my first mezcal margarita - perfection - along with short rib tacos. The chips and salsa provided to us when we were seated were the best I ever had. I ordered guacamole dip as an appetizer to go with the chips - one of the best guacamole dips I ever had in my life. Luckily, my mother and father in law loved Casa Encanto. My husband loved the food yet he would prefer to get takeout next time. This is a must see hidden gem restaurant in Wilmington, North Carolina with addictive delicious menu of unique food and the most unforgettable, energetic, & euphoric atmosphere. Run don't walk here.
