Food was cold chicken had no flavor and seems like it was fried three times over. Wasn't crispy, it was actually hard. In all honesty, I only ate it because I was hungry, but it was scary. Weirdest chicken I've ever eaten. Chicken should be golden brown, crispy, and hot. I mean you serve one thing! It's just chicken. How can you get that wrong? I've visited this location today as part of our fried chicken challenge for dinner. There is a conveniently located Popeyes across the street so I stopped and got a family size dinner at each place which included around eight or nine pieces of chicken and two large size and four biscuits. The price at churches was $16, the price at Popeyes is $20. There were two cars in line in front of me in the drive-through when I arrived at approximately 9:20 PM. It took Hey solid 10 or 12 minutes to make my way through the drive-through line. When I was in the window there were four cars behind me waiting, and nobody seemed happy about it. Since the interior has a glass wall it was easy to see what was going on inside. The staff had all the chairs up on the tables and we're cleaning up. I feel like they were spending a lot more effort cleaning up to leave and they work at serving the remaining customers through the drive-through. They were insanely slow. I ordered the family dinner and I ordered a five dollar box dinner which would be three chicken strips and a side and a biscuit. Actually, there were two sides, one was jalapeño poppers although they call them something else and I got mashed potatoes. Popeyes mashed potatoes are hands-down the winner in this competition. Churches taste exactly like second grade school lunch. So my box of chicken and the other small box came and I asked her for some dipping sauce for my chicken strips at which time she looked at me dumb late like what chicken strips? Turns out she had given me two more pieces of chicken in that five dollar box and she wanted to argue with me about what I ordered even though she repeated it back to me when I was ordering at the speaker box It's pretty obvious she was more than ready to get out of there and she was anxious for me to get the heck out of the way so she can take care of the rest of the cars. She was marginally friendly, very perfunctory, and displayed no noticeable personality whatsoever. I don't understand why restaurants don't get it that the face they displayed through that drive-through window is the face that represents the whole establishment. You should put your game face on if you're going to stick your face out that window. So onto the chicken. I got the regular not the spicy. It was good but not great. I would say it is above like Seiyu Piccadilly, and in fact this flavor of the meet might have been a smidge better than Popeyes even, but it wasn't fantastic, was not noteworthy, it wasn't any kind of knock your socks off it was just OK. Their gimmick is that they give you a free jalapeño. They act like it's a big deal but it's literally just a pickled jalapeño out of a can. It's irrelevant to the production. So this might be my first visit to churches and probably will also be my last. I have just never had any reason to go there before this. Additionally the chicken strips are much smaller than the strips at Popeyes and have substantially less flavor. In the land of fried chicken and barbecue, there is nothing to make this place stand out. It's kind of a dingy little place that you might go to if nothing else is open but, there's a Popeyes directly across the street that has the same hours so I guess that's never going to happen. When we come here, we always get the same thing... 8 pieces mixed. The chicken is always hot and fresh. Can't ask for much more than that. It's greasy because it is fried chicken, after all, but yet it's not TOO greasy like some fried chicken can be. The drive-thru lane is always pretty busy no matter the time of day, so we just pop inside to grab the chicken. I can't say if the drive-thru is slow or not, it's just placed in kind of an odd position and we'd rather not deal with it, so going in is the better option for us. Another reviewer stated the restaurant is "very dirty," but this is not the case. Well, I should say this has not been the case since we've been coming here over the course of nearly three years now. The chicken is good, the mac & cheese is good, but what I really come here for are the fried CHICKEN LIVERS! Oh yes, they cook them to order, so they are always hot and fresh. These are heavily battered and the batter actually sticks to the livers (unlike some other places) but the batter is very light and they aren't greasy. These livers are good sized and cleaned well, no extra fat or gall found. Definitely worth the drive out of my way to get a box of these. One odd thing? They are sold in 8 or 16 count. LOL read more

I am a big fan of the Church's spicy chicken. I don't get it very often because its a splurge meal in my diet. But every time, I've tried to buy spicy chicken in the past 2 weeks, this location always says they don't have any available and won't be making any more for the day. It doesn't matter what time I went up there, I went various times (6 to be exact. 6 times in 2 weeks trying to get some spicy chicken.) I even called after I left to see if they were making any spicy for the day, after being told in the drive through they wouldn't have any for the rest of the day. BUT when I called, they told me it wouldn't be ready for 2-3 hours. Which is it? Its not there or its gonna take 2-3 hours. (I did call back like 2 and half hours later and they told me that they were out of spicy chicken.) I've emailed corporate about this lack of product and the "run around" when asking when the next batch will be cooked. This place needs to get it together. The franchise owner of this place needs to look into why they won't make any spicy chicken. They've lost not only my patronage, but several others who have wanted the spicy chicken. read more

I was so excited to come here. I haven't had church's chicken since I moved to Florida. Unfortunately my experience wasn't a good one. The restaurant in general was messy with flower everywhere. Our food took a very long time. Then when it did It was incomplete or had the wrong things. The manager was extremely rude about the situation. On something that was their fault. Our end results was her telling us to give back the food. So she could give us a refund and to leave the f*** out of her store. And yes my husband lost him temper. This spot has the worst customer service that I have ever seen in all of my years of visiting this location on Normandy Blvd. I waited 30 minutes for an order that was already just sitting there. The manager appeared to be a very young lady with a horrible attitude with the customers that were waiting for so long. I had been coming here for a long time and I definitely will not be returning. This restaurant is a hot ghetto mess. The staff members are rude and the service is subpar. Every single time I visit this restaurant there is a problem with my order. And whenever, I address the staff about the incorrect order I am meet with an attitude and a lame excuse of " Its not on your receipt". First of all, it should be on the receipt because that is what I ordered, and secondly the receipt is never included with your order, you have to request it. The wait times in the drive thru is extremely long frustrating. After waiting 20-30 minutes for your order, it is almost always wrong. The staff aren't considerate enough to make sure your order is correct, especially after having to wait such a long period of time. I thought surely the service inside the restaurant would be much better. Boy was I wrong, after the cashier take your order, instead of preparing the order, she just stand around waiting for someone else fix it. Aside from the rudeness of the staff and the managers, the restaurant's appearance is just as worse. The environment is dirty and unkempt, have broken machinery and a filthy dinning room area. Needless to say, I still stayed to eat, but not before thoroughly cleaning the table and chairs to dine. Only to witness, the same mistreatment of another customer. The customer questioned them about the timeliness of her order, only to be met with snide remarks and an unprofessional tone. They even gossiped about the client as she walked out the door in the presence of other customers, myself included. The entire experience was embarrassing, stressful and disappointing. My recommendation would be to fire the entire staff and replace them with people who are much more customer oriented, customer friendly and professional. I know nothing much will be done because the restaurant is in an urban area, and we all know what society think of urban areas. I would really like to see some improvement. Clean up the place, try to prepare the order in a timely fashion.
