Reminded me of one of those clown cars you see in the movies. Started out at Koup's and ended the night at DeMatteo's. Was hoping to get a bite to eat but had just missed the kitchen. Can't speak to drinks other than my diet soda.. LOL !!! though my friends were happy with the drinks. The service was great. This eatery/bar has been around forever and is steeped in the rich history of Rome though you would never know it unless you really looked at the photos on the wall. DeMatteo's has been renovated and the bar/grill is really beautiful inside. I have long heard stories of the free peppers and amazing cheap hamburgers. I was looking forward to trying a burger as peppers are out for me but will have to plan on going back soon. Now to figure out how to load the clown car back up and head home...,

Brittany provided very good service. Very friendly and attentive. Stuffed jalapenos with sausage were ok. Peppers were not very hot. Wouldn't order again. 2 Peppers and 2 sausage only. Wasn't really put together well. Soup, shrimp and crab bisque, amazing, as previously enjoyed. Not salty at all. Salmon with mustard sauce special was excellent. Brussels and rice were very good, as well. Bacon wrapped pork medallions bourbon cream sauce was just ok. Vegetables and mashed potatoes were good. Not a mash potatoes person but theirs weren't bad. Their French Fries were great. Restaurant is nice inside with indoor and in season, outdoor seating. They have lots of areas for groups including an upstairs section. I would recommend and return here.

Could definitely see it as a go to spot for locals to come watch some games with friends over drinks. Staff interactions we had were friendly enough. The space for the party was nice enough with plenty of room for the size of party we had plus more if it were larger. Food wise there was salad, chicken tenders, pasta and pizzas. I tried all of it expect the salad. Nothing was outright awful that had me not finishing it. At the same time though I would not have classified any of it as good or worth going out of your way to try it. I preferred the chicken over the pizza if I had to pick. A spot where the food is likely better after some drinking.

Onion zucchini salad was also good. And they give you like an entire loaf of bread too! You will NOT leave hungry from here! Atmosphere: It's a historic hotel turned into a restaurant, it is pretty cool. I can imagine, middle of winter, it's cold outside and they have a line around the block to get in. It's comfort food.
