I love hot dogs. Korean hot dogs on sticks are no exception. One nice thing that happened during this pandemic was my introduction to Chungchun Rice Dogs. I visited its first store in North York during our first lockdown and got so addicted that I returned three weeks in a row. I was thrilled that another Chungchun store opened in Scarborough, which is still my closest location to get my fix. This store was larger and had new branding. This past Saturday, I went grocery shopping at Sobeys Extra. Sadly, Sobeys stores are disappearing in York region, including its latest casualty in Vaughan. I had the option of going to its Richmond Hill or Aurora location, so I chose the latter. After completing my grocery run, I was ready for grub. I was saddened to look across this plaza to find out that Wimpy's Diner had shuttered for good. It did not hold up during this pandemic. I have fond memories grabbing a bite to each before or after taking in a movie at the Cineplex next door. Chungchun Rice Dogs caught my attention. I hadn't been to this plaza for quite some time. I have no idea how long this eatery has been open. I headed over to check it out. There are parking spots where you can park for 15 minutes for fast pickups. Since I was placing an order for multiple hot dogs,. I knew that I needed a non-time-restricted spot. I found one and backed into it. I always find it amusing when there's a Goodlife Fitness or some gym next to a bunch of eateries. You will never see me take out a membership and call a gym in this environment my local one. It is counterintuitive to work out and then want every food offering in the vicinity post-workout. Chungchun is next to Philthy Philly's. I have been to the latter before. Had Chungchun not been open, I would have got a Philly cheesesteak with a side order of poutine. I walked in. There was a woman off to the side waiting for her order. A man was ahead of me ordering. I was thrilled. It allowed me to look at what hot dogs I wanted. When it was my turn, I got a helpful, friendly woman who took my order. I got the following dogs and drink: - Original - Ramen chip - Squid ink cheese - Sweet potato - Pineapple ade I paid with a credit card. The machine worked fine. I also added a tip. It was my first time getting the last two items. When I mentioned squid ink cheese, the woman's voice became louder with excitement. I've never had that reaction before. Maybe folks don't order it as much, but it's one of my favourites. The ramen chip is also up there. I got my pineapple ade first. It smells so good. It comes in one size. It looks small, but it was the perfect size to wash a couple of hot dogs down. I waited till I got my order before consuming it. It didn't take long for my order. The place calls your order number out, so you need to keep your receipt handy. As for seasonings and sauces, I got sweet garlic seasoning on top of all my hot dogs. I love the subtle garlic seasoning, so it was a no-brainer. I got sweet chili and sweet mayo sauces on the side. I thanked the woman, wished her a great day, and I walked out with my box of hot dogs and drink to my car to chow down in my car. I had the sweet potato hot dog first. It was a first for me and I loved it. Think small sweet potato fries stuck on a Korean hot dog and deep-fried to perfection. Delicious! I dipped it in both sauces and each bite was yummy. I then had the ramen chip hot dog. From the first time I ordered it, it has been one of my favourite hot dogs. I love the ramen bits on the outside that are deep-fried with the whole hot dog. The crunchiness contrasted with the plump hot dog is brilliant. The pineapple ade is so good. It was sweet, but not so sweet that it's gross. It was refreshing and delightful. I loved it. I had the remaining hot dogs today. I don't recall getting the original in my Korean hot dog journey, so I did just that. If you want a plain Korean hot dog without the bells and whistles of toppings, go for it. I thoroughly appreciated the rice coating around the hot dog dog. I dipped them in both sauces, so it was far from being plain taste-wise. The squid ink cheese is so fun to eat. It looks like a squid when you hold it. The squid ink colour is cool. You get half a beef sausage and half mozzarella cheese in it. It's the best of both worlds. Yummy! Depending on what you order, the hot dog can be beef only, a combination of beef and chicken, or a mix of pork and chicken. The menu is great in pointing out what proteins you get. There are also vegetarian options. The last time I had one, it was the chocolate hot dog. The place now features mozzarella, marble cheese, and veggie hot dog varieties. Aurora is becoming a hotbed for Asian good eats. If you're in this area, come here. The hot dogs are yummy and staff are super nice. If you don't feel like ordering at the counter and waiting, this place is on Uber Eats. You can always order ahead and drop by to pick up your order. (89)

Ok folks - You seen them on Instagram, you seen the TikTok videos but now Korean Rice Dogs are taking Toronto by storm - Is the hype worth it? Let me save you some time and say yes it is! In North America, we would think of these as a corn dog......but my friend let me tell you this is totally not the same. This place is located up in Aurora right beside play it again sports. There is parking right across the street and the location itself is pretty plain jane - Nothing fancy or Instagram worthy decor wise. But hey, it all comes back down to the food. The batter on these dogs are a lot lighter, airer and fluffier compared to a regular "corn dog" which is mostly really dense deep fried batter. They also incorporate a variety of different toppings into the batter itself including potato chunks, instant noodles and I believe I also saw squid ink. The interior of this dog also comes in a variety of combinations which largely can be broken down into two main categories - A meat or a cheese or both! The meat comes in the form of a sausage which isnt anything too spectacular. I think if this place wants to level up they need to bring in a chorizo sausage or something but its early days and the future is bright. The cheese though....wow the cheese pull is f'real! You better not be having an active conversation because your going to look embarassingly awkward trying to finish off your cheese bite mid sentence. If you get cheese, I hope you can just sit in silence and enjoy the ride. Overall I definitely would recommend coming to try this place out. I did have to wait a long time as there was a lot of folks ahead of me (one lady seemed to somehow carry out 3 large boxes?!) So be prepared to wait, but it will be worth it!

My review is based on the mozzarella hot dog only. It is regular/plain cornbread exterior with half mozzarella (top half) and half hot dog (bottom half). I wish there was mozzarella and hot dog in every bite like they have at a different establishment in DT. Overall, it was very yummy, crispy on the outside, super juicy sausage, not too oily... really delicious especially since you get to dress it with the toppings and seasonings of your preference. Due to covid, the staff put the toppings for you. I asked for less sauce but they still went heavy with it.

Amazing corn dogs! Very hot and the cheese pull is CRAZYY. We had a very friendly and patient employee helping us. There is pretty decent seating space but the shop is a little small, definitely recommend!

Regular hotdog with tasty creative coating Volcano with loads of sauces tasted the best for me. Others with potato good too - tasted like eating hash browns and hotdog. Not a hotdog fan though good to try it out for the curious Yelpers. Why is the long lineup for? Try it and find out.

chicken topping (with honey mustard + sweet mayo sauce, honey butter seasoning), squid ink cheese (with teriyaki sauce)

The $2.99+tax rice dogs on their grand opening day (July 27) was a steal and the perfect opportunity for me to try out Chungchun! Chicken Topping (topped with honey mustard+sweet mayo sauce and honey butter seasoning): Couldn't taste too much chicken but it was very crunchy. I feel it might be similar to the potato one but don't take my word for it. Also very filling for me. Squid-Ink Cheese (topped with teriyaki sauce): Half filled with cheese and half sausage. Cheese was ooey-gooey and you could do a cheese pull but mom said the sausage is a bit salty. Though the batter is black, it didn't taste special. I definitely recommend getting sauces and seasonings to take it up a notch (for more flavour and so it's not as dry), don't be afraid to mix and match!

Good price for a big snack/ small meal :) I got the potato hotdog and I loved how small the potato bits were! They added a nice texture to the hotdog and added a "fries" taste without overpowering/ diluting (? LOL) the hotdog taste! I also like how they have sauce combo examples! The customer service was great, very friendly employees :)

So much more than a pogo. Omg so good. Will definitely be back. Good for lunch, hang over cure, guilty pleasure. Whatever you need, this has it. Tons of cool flavour options. Cashier was very helpful and told us best flavour combos for our dogs. Can see why this chain is blowing up. 10/10 would recommend.

The plaza itself is such a vibe, reminding me of Unionville Main Street for those familiar with the area. The signage throughout the plaza is excellent, making the place easy to find. As soon as I walked in, I was immediately captivated by the decor. It has such a unique aesthetic that's perfect for photos. I also noticed they have a patio with umbrellas, making it an ideal spot to enjoy on a breezy summer day without worrying about the sun. I originally came intending to order the Chicken Caesar Salad Wrap ($15.99), but after spotting a table advertisement for their new Pizza Caesar Salad Wrap, I couldn't resist trying the pepperoni version ($16.99). My sister ended up ordering the Chicken Caesar Salad Wrap instead, so we got to sample both. They also offer cookies, croissants, coffee, and matcha, along with 16- and 20-ounce iced drinks that are reasonably priced. I'm definitely intrigued to come back and try one. Even better, they've recently started serving breakfast, giving me even more reasons to return. The portions were generous and satisfying, and both wraps were packed with flavor. They struck the perfect balance of textures; crisp, creamy, and incredibly fresh. Honestly, no notes. They were perfection. I'd happily order them again, though I'm equally tempted to work my way through the rest of the menu. To top it all off, the staff were warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming, making for an all-around excellent experience.

I've never had mortadella before so I ordered the 4 Seasons as well as a hot dog. The hot dog is decent. The sausage is nicely grilled so it enhances that smoky flavor. The bun was a sesame bun but dry - just OK. Not sure it is worth the price or that I'd order it again. But when it comes to the sandwich, the ingredients were so fresh, the meat was delicious, the sauces were yummy, and it is overall composed really well. I'm a very saucy girl so it's slightly on the dry side for me, though. If I had to equate it to another well-known chain, I'd put this up there with Jersey Mike's, but perhaps with an edge because of the curated sauces and freshness. I love you too, Grandma!

The Square One location is small, with about five or six booths and five or six tables. There are also some tables set up outside the restaurant, in the mall walkway. When we arrived, there were two booths available. You place your order by Kiosk and Ordering is by kiosk which then activates a "buzzer" which you take to your table and wait for the order to be ready. We ordered three Shack Stacks and two orders of fries. The burgers were pretty good, but I was expecting them to be better for some reason. They are very similar to Burger's Priest, and I believe that Burger's Priest copied their menu. Comparing them to Burger's Priest, I would have to say that Burger's Priest is a bit better than Shake Shack. The fries at Shake Shack are frozen crinkle cut fries, but that is what they are known for. The prices for the burgers, and especially the fries, are very high for what you get, however it is Shack Shack. Would I return? Probably not because for this price point, there are a lot of other options to choose and other "local" burger places.

I stopped at AJ's for a quick and inexpensive bite after the gym. I saw they had a pizza burger on special for just $6.99 and that piqued my interest. I debated not getting a roll suspecting it would be one of the super cheap burger buns, but I just ordered it as is; I was very glad I did. It was made fresh to order in about 8 minutes. When it came out, it was presented open faced on a nicely toasted junior kaiser roll with a good amount of tasty pizza sauce, a load of gooey provolone, and cup & char pepperoni atop the burger, which was a decent size. Everything worked well together and it was like a tasty, meaty, easily handheld piece of pizza. The service was friendly.
