Staff were just sitting around chatting amongst themselves, not checking in on guests. Second, when they did have time to come by, they harassed me about my 2 year old and told us to keep an eye on her and made sure we were watching her. Our party had 7 adults and one child - and one of us were always with her (there's loose roosters running around, and droppings everywhere - it's not a space for unsupervised play). The wine was mediocre. The food options were terrible. Even if I didn't have a kid, I would skip - there are far better wineries, with better wine, staff, food, and prices. This place is not worth anyone's time.

They had a big covered outdoor patio, but we opted to taste at the bar so we could enjoy the cats and not get wet having to go back and forth between inside and out. The tasting menu consisted of 9 wines, 1 white and 8 reds. Since we had another winery or two ahead of us, we opted to share. My boyfriend was skeptical about sharing at first, but he ended up glad we did because the pours were a pretty decent size. They also had a wall of olive oils and balsamics that you could taste. Plus mustards available for purchase, but not tasting. The hospitality was fantastic! It was a rainy day, the tasting room was packed, and there was only one person working, but he managed to take care of all of us with ease. He constantly knew which wines people were on, and still took the time to chat with everyone about the wines and the animals. This wasn't my favorite wine of the trip, but we did leave with a bottle and also got some oils and a mustard!

We were told at the event that they take walk-ins, but the website emphasized reservations, so we made one just to be safe. We were greeted in the driveway by the winery dogs, a very welcoming sight! They were great leaders to the tasting room, though they stayed outside for the duration of our visit. We each did the regular flight, which was 1 white and 4 reds during our visit. We did also get an off menu taste. Our favorite from the flight was the whole cluster grenache, we ended up taking a bottle of that one home. We were helped by Erica, she was super fun to chat with and very knowledgeable about the wines. We didn't know this when booking, but the tasting flight came with a snack plate! It had bread, cheese, nuts, some dips, and olives, such a fun surprise. The property and tasting room were beautiful! I also loved that you got to see the massive steel tanks as you walked into the tasting room.

The owner and wine-maker Neil (whose nickname is Clavo) was great to talk to. He let us try every wine - about 3 whites, 1 rose, 1 sparkling, 5 or 6 reds, and a port. We are kind of wine snobs and loved a lot of the wines. While we tasted (and we were the only visitors at the time), Neil told us stories about his wine and his dogs, Rory and Karma visited with us. They are very sweet older pups. Because Zack's dad is in the wine business, Neil offered us a 30% discount on the wines we purchased - so nice! We'd love to visit Neil and Clavo again and were so thankful for such a fun afternoon activity (and Neil even gave us caterer suggestions to we can label this stop "working on our wedding"!).

I stumbled across Mitchella while…read moredoing a search on Yelp, and am quite pleased I chose this to be my one stop before moving on to the next city. The tasting at Mitchella Vineyard and Winery is $20 for 6 wines, with mindfully curated cheese pairings. (A fantastic deal considering the seemingly skyrocketing cost of everything.) The tasting fee is also waived with the purchase of 2 bottles, which is the route I opted for after completing my experience. Upon arrival I was instantly greeted by Lizzie, as she patiently and quietly waited for me to exit my car. She wiggled her butt toward the entrance, encouraging me to follow. Sweet little start to the day, I'd say! (The winery pup in case you haven't figured that out.) ;-) Rachel quickly greeted me and got me seated next to a heater in their enclosed patio, and the paired adventure began. The Viognier was paired with Kokos, a coconut Gouda cheese. Very surprising on the palate, and the wine definitely emphasized the coconut, while the cheese brought out the pineapple of the wine. The Chardonnay had a crisp mouth feel but still just the slightest hint of that butteriness I tend to love in my chardonnays. The subtle saltiness of the benning goat Gouda smoothed out the crispness of the wine. The Cheap B*st*rd (since I'm not sure what Yelp decides doesn't work for them), was quite enjoyable as a stand alone. For me it had the nose of what I would consider to be darker fruits and a generally more jammy wine, but it was smooth on the palate. The white Stilton with cranberry that it was paired out helped bring forward some of the fruit flavor, but the cheese itself wasn't my favorite (hence the stand alone aspect). The Tempranillo would be my grab a glass and a book and plop down by the fireplace (or on my balcony wrapped in blankets) type of wine. It didn't feel heavy and was just a nice sippable red. On the nose, for me, was a very dark red kookaburra licorice. It had a smooth, light finish and paired quite well with the mimolette (which I will forever know as the cannonball cheese thanks to Rachel!) Presumptuous, a zin, had what I consider to be a jammy mouthfeel (as I still can't figure out how exactly wine connoisseurs identify that!) It was paired with a Boschetto truffle cheese and I feel it brought out a very mushroom forward (favorable) taste when put together. For me, it isn't always about what can the food do for the wine... I love to experience what the find can do for the food! Give me a nice side dish of garlic sautéed mushrooms with a glass of this zin, and pretty sure I'm one happy girl. The only potential downside to me for this winery is that their restroom is a portable. While considerably clean, it's definitely a tight squeeze if you're a bigger girl like myself. Deal breaker? Not a chance. I look forward to a future stop when the vines are green and views expansive!

It was described a place: with a guy, his dog and goats, a shack, delicious wine, and that's exactly what it was. Super down to earth host, outdoor seating in the shade, with a backyard vibe. The owner was a super cool dude, playing classic rock on the radio, who makes sure your glass is always full and you have everything you need. Intended on a quick visit, ended up staying over two hours and it felt like home. Bought a couple bottles at a great price and got the road. Definitely would return and highly suggest you check them out. Make sure and grab a pic with his pup before you leave.

We came in without a reservation on a Saturday afternoon and were warmly greeted by two of the winery dogs - already a big success. We checked in at the tasting room and were greeted by Greg, the owner and our host for the day, then grabbed a spot outside. Greg brought the wines from the tasting menu out 1 at a time and told us a little about each. We even got an extra pour of an off menu wine. We ended up taking two bottle home from the tasting - the rosé and the R'own blend.

The wines here were very unique, and there were some interesting blends. I liked some of the other wines better but ended up buying a few. The outside had plenty of shade, and the live music was really nice. The musician was chatting between songs since we were the only ones there for a while. The pacing was really slow, so make sure you have time to enjoy, we did have to track down good old Steve to check out but he had our wines ready to go when we were. I would go back next time I'm in Paso Robles.
