My fiance and I will on occasion (when we feel like being naughty) come here late night and get one of their amazing old fashioned donuts with a small personal-sized carton of chocolate milk. We recently decided that Chuck's is even better than their local competitor, Pilgrim Kitchen. Reason being is that they are a lot more reasonably priced, are open 24 hours, and most importantly taste better. My donuts, which I bought at 10am, were not warm. Everything else was normal. Not a huge fan of donuts but I've had Krispy Kreme before and donuts from this place was neither better nor worse than KK's. I'd probably prefer Chuck's over KK to support a local business. Awesome place with great doughnuts. Went in the afternoon and they were still frying fresh doughnuts. The case was filled and they replenish it regularly. Apple fritter was incredible! We had a doughnut taste test competition where we blindly tasted doughnuts from "mom and pop" doughnut shops across the bay. Chucks won. read more

I agree w the reviewer who said this place has gone down hill. It really has. There's new something management or owners and it bad. The people are rude, the place is messy, the cases are messy, the donut selection not great not we'll supplied, when I asked to fill a maple bar which previous management did w a smile, this employee and his co worker scowled. Old management/ownership would only fill bars on request to keep thw cream chilled in the fridge. They also had full selection of donuts most time of day even late morning on a Saturday. Today lots of empty space in the cases and unfriendly service. I asked if under new manage and the employee winced and said No. I suspect they've been asked before. This isn't the first questionable / sketchy experience I've had in recent month, just the worst. Too bad, now I need to find a new donut place. read more

Great Donuts - not great service I would always go in just about the same time Saturday morning, order the exact same type of donut that I love (glazed butter milk) and the same woman was and is still there to help me. Even though I ALWAYS got the exact same thing, not only did she look completely perplexed (as she gave a 'glazed' look) to what I wanted but she didn't seem to have a clue that I was a regular customer. If feeling like a valued customer is important to you, I'd go to Royal Donut in Burlingame instead. However, if you are looking for a really good donut and you're in the area, this is a worth while stop. The prices are reasonable and the selection is pretty good. Just so this is put in perspective, Chuck's is 24-7 and I can only speak for weekend mornings. I was visiting the area and decided to stop by Chucks because my city doesn't have one. I was eager to buy a maple bar but unfortunately they were out. It's okay, not the end of the world. I bought $7.59 worth of donuts. I went to slide my card and it said it was declined. The lady working there walked away to help someone. I waited until she was free to tell her that my card didn't work and can I slide it a different way? It declined again and I was pretty embarrassed. (Side note: I tried my card 30 minutes later somewhere else and it worked) She didn't offer to try to help with the card. She asked me if I had cash on me and I said I only had 7 dollars. I asked her if she could take away one of the donuts so it would equal 7 dollars. She said no. This woman was very unfriendly and clearly doesn't care about getting business. All I can say is....they give boxes!!! I loved it!!! My donuts stayed flat, icing stayed in tact, sprinkles were still on. I was 100% pleased. That little pink box says so much when you are going somewhere or just going home! Family and friends all know that, that famous pink box equals yummy donuts and the smiles come out!! I got two old fashioned glazed for less than two dollars. The place is pretty darkly lit, especially at night. The workers are in the back and I had to wait for them to come out.
