One of my co-workers always brings donuts from Chuck's to work. So I had their donuts a dozen times before I ever went to their store. I made a note to myself to go there, to the actual store, but for a couple years I never had time. Finally, I was running early to work so I had time to stop by Chuck's! I went in there and no Chuck, just an Asian woman, lol. Guess Chuck's is just the name. I dunno. I got a breakfast sandwich which I didn't care for and would not get again. And I got some donuts. We had not been in to Chuck's for a few years after having a few disappointing experiences. However, last summer we heard there were some management changes and so went back. And we keep coming back! The donuts are fresh, taste crisp (no old grease flavor) and the selection broad. The buttermilk bars and crullers are both well done, along with your typical cake and raised donut varieties. I came here a lot as a child & teen growing up in the 80's & 90's & I always remember the wonderful, donut holes, old fashion & raised glazed, chocolate with & without sprinkles, twists, apple frideders, chocolate & maple bars with & without custard etc. I recently went back & nothing has changed. Everything is as good as I remember. The woman waiting on us was very friendly. I always remember that freshly made smell of donuts & coffee alike. I got a bismark with lemon & my niese, an apple fridder. My bismark was wonderful with a lightly powdered crispy exterior & smooth lemon custard inside. The blueberry donuts are wonderful with blueberry icing & a moist interior. I will definitely be back for more. They were a bit greasy, but nothing to rune the taste. Coffee and donuts are good but the service is horrible. I went in this morning ask for six medium coffees and lady says let's start with donuts which we did made it to counter and ask what are we drinking, I say six coffee. I grab my six coffees, which lucky I had two guys to help. I start making my 2 coffee and lady's starts saying take you're donuts, I say give me a second I am making my coffee. Which she didn't handed my donuts bag to my hand, which means I have to eat them in different location to finish my coffee then what do they do next they start rushing me to pay. Then they start saying if I don't like the business to go some where else's. Which I've replied I'll be out of my mind to come back! There were two options available when I was there, plus the standard sweeteners and cream. It's self-serve. Went back here to get 2 dozen donuts for the office today. Regular donut costs $0.80 and a dozen $7.00. I didn't know this but you can't mix and match the french cruller ($0.90) or jelly donuts ($1.25) since they cost more. I asked if she can mix them in and I'll just pay difference between the special and regular donuts, simply add it to the $7.00 price. Unfortunately you can't because my box was filled with 24 donuts before I could even finish my explanation. I asked if I can swap some of those donuts for crullers or jellies. The prompt reply was "No, you buy extra. Dozen jellies $10.50". Since 3 dozen donuts is way too much for my office I just stuck with the original 2 dozen. Also no such thing as a bakers dozen here. I always get a bakers dozen from Rolling Pin, sometimes even a small bag of free donut holes. Oh well, this experience is the answer to my question next time I contemplate whether or not to make the longer drive to Rolling Pin. read more

This is one of those places that I'm glad there isn't a location close to where I live. I first tried Chucks 4 days ago and I've had it 2 more times since then. Each time has been very delicious. I really enjoy a donut that has a slight crisp on the outside with a nice, soft interior. On to some flavors. Normally, I steer clear of custard anything and I stuffed my face with two chocolate custard donuts in two days. TWO in TWO DAYS. The custard is light and velvety which is why it is so dangerous. The lemon jelly turns me into a monster. I know I shouldn't eat a whole one in one sitting but I find myself glaring at the other people who consider devouring the other lemon jelly. My preeeeeeccciiooous. The cinnamon glaze makes me want a cup of coffee and a good e-book. This one is the donut that makes you really appreciate that crunchy exterior and the soft interior. A lot of places glaze so much that it just makes the outside soggy but not this baby. It's ready for the party in your tummy. As for service, the people there have been very nice but of course they are going to be when they already know you will be back. I have never had a bad experience here. The donuts are always fresh, and many times I've walked out with fresh, piping hot donuts. Donuts are cheap, good for your money and always, ALWAYS well-glazed. I've even gotten the chance to watch staff through the huge window (separating the storefront from the kitchen) as they cut the donuts out! :D Staff has always been nice as well. Stopped by chucks today, and while I was picking out my donut and paying for it (1.50 with small coffee) this lady walks in front of me and plunks down a buck for coffee and just stands there until eventually the old asian lady puts out a fresh pot. She fills her cup. Then, still standing there blocking my way to the cups while old asian lady dumps the rest of a stale old pot into the fresh one. Mmmm...nothing better than a chocolate glazed donut at 3:00 am!! The Donut: Super yummy and just the way I love it. Fluffy dough and pretty darn amazing flavor. The service: Fair. The patron working there took a while to come out of the donut prep area to help us, but it's 3:00 am, I should be happy I am even getting a donut at this time. Parking: Super convenient! The selection: Typical. Nothing new or creative, but the classics (glazed, old fashion, maple, Bear claws and Apple fritters) are all available. All in all the place looked tidy and the donuts looked appealing. I am happy I stopped by this Donut shop to satisfy my random sweet cravings at 3:00 am. read more

We arrived here pretty late in the night to find, the Belmont CIty Police hanging out. How more stereotypical can we get? I lucked out to find that they had glazed donuts fresh out. Add that to the 24 hour service, it warrants and extra star. The place is really old school, 70ish, as are the clientele at the late hour. They guy working the fryer was pretty nice. What's weird is the Chuck's donuts that's just one exit over down in San Carlos, but I don't think there's any relation. Guess you can't say there isn't "nightlife" in Belmont. HAH! read more

This place seems okay. There aren't any signs so we were a bit confused about whether it was open and then if it's actually 24 hours. The service was okay, nothing spectacular as she just rang us up. They were sold out of glazed donuts which I wasn't aware was possible. It's definitely the first time it's ever happened to me. As a result, I just got some donut holes and a cinnamon twist. Both of which were a little hard and not easy to finish in one go. Overall I probably won't be back. read more

I can't attest to the quality or taste of the doughnut varieties here because I've only been there once (tonight), but I like the low, spinning stools and round tables. I'm not the biggest fan of the fluorescent lighting or the wooden walls and ceiling, but I bought a half dozen ($3.75) to share with my friends. The glazed cruller I ate was delicious. Light, airy and not too overwhelmingly sweet. The man who was working here tonight (around 12:30 AM) asked me if I was Japanese (score!) and was 100% correct. He said it was in the eyes and he knew because he has a lot of Japanese friends. He's Cambodian, not Vietnamese. I'm looking forward to trying more of their doughnuts and their ham and cheese croissant! read more

A hole in the wall place for a quick fix to your donut craving. They are open 24/7 and if you come here between 8-9pm donuts are fresh and still warm! Glazed is always good as well as the chocolate with custard. The custard is light and not overwhelmingly sweet. Good find! read more
