    Happy Summer from Chuck Wagon!
    Sarah D.

Wow, I have never reviewed Chuck Wagon?! Maybe since I've been going there since 198.......... Delicious chili dogs and fries , all these years the recipe has not changed and it's delicious every time! Walk up order and pick up window only, classic :) They are closed Wednesday & Sunday. My dad likes the Burrito Deluxe which is their famous chili, cheese and onions and lettuce over a small deep fried burrito . Ben loves the chili burger without cheese. Eat at home, on their picnic table if available or take to Pine Flat or nearby park....do not eat in your car! Too juicy, too delicious, sit down and savor it.

Hey Chuck Wagon get longer hot dog buns! They used to be longer and the hot dog didn't stick out on both ends of the bun. Make brewed iced tea instead of instant. That instant tea sucks! The food is still good but don't cut corners to save a dollar. People come back to Chuck Wagon because of consistency of the food. Try to keep it like it was 50 years ago. Note: photo is not from Chuck Wagon it is just an example photo.

Chuck Wagon is a classic staple in the Central Valley. I hadn't been in over 10 years, and it was just as delicious as I remembered. Ordering is done at the window, and there was less seating than I remember, but the service was quick. The chili brought back so many memories and was definitely worth the visit. We tried a little bit of everything--burgers, chili dogs, chili fries, and more. My only complaint was that the burger had too much mustard; even with the chili, the mustard overpowered the flavor. Overall, it was a nostalgic and satisfying experience!

I have to say that the food is good and I drive from Fresno just for the chilli. And now my kids do too. I buy the chilli and do Fritos boats with it

We love Chuck Wagon! They have the best chili with just the right amount of spice to it. We like to call in our order and it's usually ready when we get there. They do have a small seating area outside to eat at if you choose to do so.

We made a reservation, which is nice because they print your name on the menu! And then we promptly forgot to actually take the menus with us. :( This is a prix fixe menu where you have a choice for each of the courses (think DineLA style), and the menu apparently changes all the time, according to the whims of the chef (which is the most fun). We also shared a wine pairing and the sommelier was fantastic in telling us about each of the wines. Wonderful experience. Our server, Trevor, was great! We loved the pecan pie cheesecake (my partner says it's the perfect thickness - as in, it's not very thick at all, and manageable after a large meal. I also really liked the sesame crusted tuna, and the wagyu beef was amazing. My partner got a casarecce for one of the courses and she loved that. The flavors in that are super intense and really delicious. We were seated in the garden patio, and there seemed to have been an engagement party that evening, but you couldn't hear anything from the garden patio - it was very peaceful and chill. Looking forward to visiting again when we are in town! For $78 for a prix fixe menu ($62 for wine pairing), compared to LA prices, we are down!

A set menu, you start off with some focaccia bread that's paired with their herb culture butter a great starter. Loved my moscato and my friend opted for a red wine. The first course, salad of golden beets with figs, prosciutto, goat cheese was delectable. The curried cauliflower soup was so creamy and rich. So much flavor from our second course, the gnocchi with ancho-braised beef was on point, sesame crusted tuna so beautifully displayed and seared lightly. Before our entrée, we had shaved ice as a palate cleanser that tasted like pear and cinnamon. We both got the Wagyu beef with mashed potatoes on the side, a little salty but cooked nicely. Finally finishing with dessert, the carrot bread pudding was delicious and cranberry almond cake was not too sweet. I want to also share they are reservation only, so make sure you book before you go. There is parking in the public parking lot just behind the restaurant and also street parking. The setting was quiet, low lighting, and semi-formal. Overall we had a wonderful evening.

I've been to the other location and knew a good night was in store, parking was a snap and upon entering was seated immediately. I chose to sit indoors and was escorted to a table by a window. The waitress was considerate and knowledgeable of the menu (I could tell you some stories) with a humorous spirit we ordered and enjoyed our drinks and bites until we were served with our order. I ordered my hamburger medium and it was perfect! I also chose to have onion rings with is not a regular thing for me, some aren't crispy enough, this was the case tonight but good nonetheless. Best food ever, especially The Legend burger. It is so big, my wife and I have to split it. The best time to go, for us anyway, is during the week for lunch. Not too busy. The restaurant still shares the ambiance of the Spike and Rail and Pea Soup Anderson's whom of which previously occupied the restaurant. Don't let the prices fool you. It may seem pricey, but, once you get your meal and you realize that your eyes were bigger than your stomach, you're going to need that "to go" box.
