I have passed by here many times and just didn't stop in. That changed one day and the smell in the c-store made my mouth water. Sadly for me they were closed. After several attempts to drop in my luck changed and I got to partake in the amazing food. I came in for the burger but ended up with the hamburger steak. I got mine with mashed potatoes and fries. The stake came out smothered in grilled onions and brown gravy. I wished I had taken a photo but I couldn't wait to dig in so no photo. Well my family and I showed up today to grab lunch before our ballgame. We were so excited after seeing the good reviews. We had this planned and even called ahead to make sure they were open. We walked in sat at the table and were NEVER greeted. The lady was washing dishes so we thought ok no worries we can wait. She then preceded to answer a phone call and took an order and then without acknowledging us went right back to washing dishes. At that point we got up and left with not one word being said to us. I went in to order food about 10 minutes before 2:00 PM. The employee at the counter was ready to take my order, but a female employee interrupted and said, "No, we close in five minutes at 2 PM." I was confused because their hours online clearly say they're open until 3:00 PM, so I said, "It says online you close at 3?" She responded, "Yeah, it's 2 PM." The whole interaction was awkward, especially since the other employee was already about to help me. I've eaten here several times before around 2:30 PM, and they've always been open until 3:00 PM. Really upset that this place is about to fall apart. The guy that worked here forever has been let go. I've tried it once since he's been gone. I use to recommend this place to everyone. We left dollywood around 530pm with 3 starving kids who were craving burgers. After looking at yelp we saw that chubbys burgers were getting 5 star reviews. It stated on yelp that it stayed open until 7pm. We arrived a few minutes before 6. Our greeting was WE ARE CLOSED!! I said in a much nicer response oh im sorry i thought you were open until 7? She then said no we close at 6pm and have closed at 6pm for over a month now! I get it, i honestly do. When my time is up i too want to go home after a long day. Im not leaving a bad review because they were closed, the bad review is because of 1.) YELP states the closing time as 7pm, not 6pm in which she said. So simply change the hours on yelp to 6pm as the close. This would eliminate customers who use yelp and want to go to your establishment after you are closed. 2.) Every customer may not be from the local area and would have no idea that you have been closing at 6pm over the last month- again non locals are using yelp to find your place and plainly see you are or according to yelp should be open until 7 and not 6. It's so reasonable too! The only thing to keep in mind if you visit is they only take cash, no credit cards so plan accordingly. I stopped 2 times for breakfast during a 4 day vacation because it was so good the first time. I got the breakfast sandwich with egg, bacon, cheese, and lettuce as well as a side of shredded potatoes. Simple, but I could eat it every single day. The staff was so kind and offered to make an omelette or something else if we wanted it and it wasn't on the menu. If the cook knows how to make it, they'll make it for you! Small town feel the second you get in until you leave. It's attached to a gas station and they allow you to buy drinks from there and bring them over. We are locals and have been wanting to try Chubby's for quite some time. We finally got out that way and it was everything I expected and much more! I got the pork burger with chips and my husband got the burger with bacon and bbq on top. We were very pleased and very full! Seriously good food and very generous portions for reasonable prices! I took home a pork burger with chips and a side of fries for my teenagers to split and it was more than enough to make them both happy. Second time here at Chubby's Deli, and it will not be the last time. Burgers here are the best anywhere Tennessee or Indiana. The French Fries are fresh, hot and not greasy. They have a Chubby Burger with 1/2 pound of beef with pulled pork and bacon for only $8.95 this thing is enormous and well worth the money. Two people can eat for $15.00. They have daily specials and dinner style meals. Their breakfasts are really good. I really liked the Biscuits and Gravy.
