This place came in clutch for me. I was staying at a lodge 5 mins walk away and really just wanted a salad and a beer after a long day of hiking. Most restaurants in the area have more fatty foods or the salads are really expensive, so I came here and got a simple, filling $10ish salad and a $3 can of beer. It was JUST what I wanted. They had tons of other stuff too including deli items for order eg sandwiches and pizza, and of course your standard small grocery store stuff like bread and jam, candy, etc. Glad this place is where it is - it helped me a lot! read more

This is the place to stop if you need anything!! From items for your room/cabin, to food, or gifts. This was our first time stopping in but it will not be our last! My husband and I commented that we should have gone to Old Dad's as opposed to stopping at Kroger for a few items the day before. And the prices are very reasonable as well! If you're looking for a quick and easy breakfast or lunch sandwich, this is the place to stop as well! If we had not already had our name on a waitlist for breakfast nearby, we would have ordered a bite from here... there's always another day though. I've been going to old dads for many years, and always had a good experience, but recently had read some really bad reviews of the place. I was in gatlinburg for the last week, and went in despite the recent bad reviews. I like to get a six pack to drink in our hotel room, but again, had seen reviews saying their beer prices were outrageous and service was rude. Anyway, I went to the beer section, expecting to be shocked by the prices, but found that it was priced pretty much the same as it always had been. The first night there, I just bought a couple of singles, a 24 oz yuengling that was around $4, and a 24 oz natural light, that was around $3.50. The ladies at the counter were friendly as always, although they are very strict about ID'ing anyone purchasing alcohol. I was in the store three other times throughout the week, and each time, beer prices were not at all out of line for a tourist town, and service was courteous and friendly. read more

We've been going to Old Dad's since it opened many years ago in Gatlinburg. It was our go-to spot for fresh made breakfast and lunch deli sandwiches as well as fun fresh snacks, granola bars etc. Old Dad's is now under new ownership. The prices are ridiculously high!!!! They no longer offer their 10% off military discount. One of the worst changes, they no longer have their made-to-order sandwiches. They used to have cute little eatery inside with tables and chairs, and this is gone as well. If you want fresh made sandwiches, I suggest going elsewhere. Like many things in Gatlinburg, the new ownership made poor changes that affect pricing and quality dramatically. read more

This was our go to place for picnic food on our way to hike but the cook was mean, very mean and made everything wrong and when we asked if we had the right order. This was our source for sandwiches to take out hiking in the Park. We needed to pick up early, and could only hope the sandwiches could stand up to a morning of hiking. They did! I really enjoyed Old Dad's as one of the highlights on our tour through the area. The entire downtown area is touristy, Old Dad's included. As others have noted, Old Dad's is themed after an old time general store. They've done a good job accomplishing the feel of an old time store. While being in tourism central, the place maintains reasonable prices for the small grocery list. There is a deli counter to boot that actually serves really good sandwiches/burgers at a pretty good price. The guys working behind the counter were personable and made our food quickly. There are a few places to sit inside or a picnic table outside. Our family of four was able to get 2 burgers, hotdog, deli sandwich and tater tots for under $25. Old Dad's is on the edge of downtown and just seemed to have a little less hustle & bustle in relation to the rest of the area. read more

They have a deli sandwich section which we were glad to discover, as in the next couple of days we will be wanting sandwiches and hoped that we could get something different than Subway. We walked up to the deli and the lady just stood there looking at her cash register not saying a word - it was very awkward! We were spending the afternoon hiking and wanted to grab some quick sandwiches before we headed back out so we thought we would try Old Dad's and I'm so glad we did! Located in a country store, you order at the counter. The people who work there are awesome! Super friendly and talkative. We all stood in line when we got there and ordered our food. There was a quite a bit of a line, but it went quickly. I ordered the tuna salad sandwich with tator tots. Others in our group ordered chili, fried green tomatoes, BLT and grilled cheese. All the comfort food staples! Our food arrived quickly! We decided to eat in vs taking it out. There were several tables inside the store where we could eat. The tuna sandwich was so good. Really fresh and just tasty! Everyone else enjoyed their food too. My favorite part of the trip wasn't the food, actually. It was when the manager or maybe the shift leader told all the cooks that they had done a good job knocking out 10+ orders quickly. It was so refreshing to hear someone say that so publicly. The menu is pretty straight forward - sandwiches, burgers and fried stuff. None of the sides are homemade but they hit the spot. My turkey sandwich was piled high with meat and Ioved that the staff asked if I wanted it toasted. In a busy store that small question meant a lot.
