The food was fresh, very tasty, but it was mostly the attentiveness of everyone who works here. They stopped by and made sure we had everything we needed and always with a smile. On vacation with the family. Need to get the hell away for a meal with the Hot Chick wife. Looked on Yelp (where else?) and found Split Rail. A bit off the beaten path but worth it. The area is still under development but is nice. HUGE outdoor area to sit and relay with a beverage and dinner. Walked up to the counter, greeted warmly and told what to expect. Order at the counter, get a pager, place it in the designated spot on your table. That way they know where you are seated. Drinks came really quickly and were mixed just right. Food followed shortly after. It was tasty and priced right. Wanted to get a second drink and sit outside but the babysitter was about out of time. Great beer wall where you choose your own beverage. This place was delicious! The staff were very friendly, greeted us right as we walked in to explain the process of ordering. You order at the front, then go sit and wait on your food! Everyone loved the food, I had the turkey sandwich and it tasted like Thanksgiving in a meal! Refreshing after a long hike. The restaurant was clean, with staff cleaning constantly. This was an even better experience than we had anticipated! The food was great.The onion straws are AMAZING! The tater tot bowl options are a fun different item on the menu. Wow! What a great find on Yelp! We stopped for lunch when visiting Gatlinburg. Ordering was quick at the walk up counter and the employee was very helpful. Food was very good. I had turkey Reuben with homemade chips and husband had buffalo chicken wrap with tater tots. We enjoyed our meals at this cute, cozy restaurant. Just go in ton this afternoon and needed a quick place to grab a bite after a long drive. This wasn't too far and had a good variety of food for all of our group. This place is attached to a lodge. Cute atmosphere, there are a few lounge areas where you can eat. You order at the counter and then they give you a number and you sit wherever you want. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak with a side order of fries, bell peppers and mushrooms were extra also. I feel like the price point wasn't worth it. The sandwich was salty and they forgot the bell peppers and mushrooms. For $4 I barely got any fries. It was a small sandwich for 20 bucks. Can't say I'd recommend this place or return. Just what I was looking for! Casual dining done right. The location is away from the congestion of the main strip of Gatlinburg. We had burgers and tots. The quality of the burger was legit, the tots were nice and crispy. We also did the beer/cider experience. This was really cool. You just scan a wristband and you sample one of several drinks. So many delicious beers, ciders, and cocktails. The PBJ cider was unique and delicious! 10/10. This was the perfect stop after a morning spent at the national park. Good for a quick lunch! We visited Split Rail Eats after spending the morning hiking in GSMNP, and found it moderately busy. The restaurant had a casual ambiance, and we ended up sitting in their outdoor area, which had plenty of sun and shade. We went up to order at the counter and saw an entire Fall Latte Menu of seasonal coffee drinks. I chose the Iced Autumn Glory and my friend got an Iced Nutty Pumpkin. Unfortunately, neither of these were good at all. Both drinks were super weak and tasted like we were just drinking a cup of sweetened milk. Definitely could've used another shot of espresso! For food, I got the Rodeo Burger with Cucumber Salad as a side. The burger was tasty and filling! I liked the fried onion straws and melty cheese, and the Cucumber Salad was light and refreshing. My friend ordered the Southwestern Burger with Tater Tots on the side, and said her meal was pretty good. The Tater Tots were nicely crispy. This is quite the hidden gem in the mountain. This place blew my mind when I walked in. Really cool vibe. You can dispense several draft beers yourself. Big screen tv's available to watch your favorite sports team. Seating was ample and comfortable...the place is bigger than it looks. Could probably seat 100 people. The food was great. I had no idea what I would order and then I found an ol' faithful....shrimp and grits. The portion was small, grits were just okay, and I had to retrieve my own glass of wine which sat sitting. My initial thought when I received my fish is that it looked like a kids meal. I enjoy eating bacon but there was just too much...Add more shrimp and grits please. You will only receive 4 shrimp and must pay more for an extra skewer. I will say that my daughter enjoyed the Philly cheese steak sandwich which is not pictured. I have never tried a self pour beer station. Had so much fun making my own beer flights. The food was amazing too! Incredible hidden gem! Don't let the outside (from the parking lot) fool you. The main entrance is where the green "shop entrance" sign is. The restaurant is huge, and has a very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. My husband and I spent 3 days in Gatlinburg and found it on our last day. As vegetarians, we found it very difficult to find anything to eat besides pizza and Mexican. Took a chance on Split Rail based on some good reviews and we're thrilled with our choice. I had the Greek burger with a veggie patty, plus the cucumber salad. We shared cheese curds and my husband had the Philly cheese "steak" using jackfruit.
