Quail egg and rice noodles
Uyen N.

Pork belly is good, a little too salty (dont need dipping salt), but each piece is too big. Beef is a little too dry. Chicken heart a little too chewy. My favorites are: taiwan sausage (very juicy and a little sweet), chicken (the marinade is good and meat is tender.

This place is amazing. Their skewers are authentic, fresh, and not too salty. My partner and I ordered a ton of different dishes, but my favorite might have been the chicken and corn. All delicious options! The owner was kind too. We accidentally got overcharged by a skewer, so he let us minimize the tip to compensate. He was very communicative and we look forward to coming back!

I haven't had a ton of skewers before, so these were fun to eat! We got medium spicy which I found spicy but doable and tried everything that sounded good :) We got the sweet appetizer rice cakes, roast eggplant dish, tofu, pork belly, beef, squid, Taiwan sausage, king sausage, mini sausage, frog legs, and bacon wrapped shrimp. Everything was tasty but notable favorites were the rice cakes (both the sweet appetizer and the skewer), king sausage skewers, bacon wrapped shrimp, and golden bun skewer. The frog leg skewer (my first time trying) was like a surprisingly good cross between chicken and fish, and the pork belly was quite good too! Each skewer order comes with one skewer, but there's enough to share, especially if you order multiple skewers to try! I would definitely come back but maybe order a bit less for two people (but the leftovers were good!) :)

What skewers we tried: Potato, sweet corn, fish tofu, chicken wings, chicken, beef, frog leg, spicy wontons and beef bbq. The must trys go to the chicken wing skewers. Perfectly seasoned with a nice little crunch on it. Honestly everything was really good - I'd suggest getting only one of everything so you're able to try more stuff. As for spice, I only went one level up from "mild". As someone who's not a big spice person, it was perfect for me. It still had a little kick but didn't make the experience overwhelming. The inside is small but we were sat quickly. We came on a Sunday afternoon and not a lot of people were inside thankfully. We were served quickly and the food came out in a timely manner. The restaurant isn't super fancy but casual and a great place if you're looking for a quick bite to eat on the go. We'll definitely be back!

Small restaurant but friendly staff helped us get seated pretty quickly! Got a few different skewers and I thought the vegetables were great -- meat skewers not so much. We asked for mild but it was incredibly spiced so not sure if it went through?

Overall, I can say the staff is super friendly and the restaurant is very clean, including the bathroom. The food is pretty good, just not for me. A lot of it has to do with the spices. To start off on the skewers, the sausage, ribs and chicken were excellent. The beef had a very strange spice on it, same as the braised chicken dish. Which I honestly didn't like it all. Both tasted much more like Middle Eastern food than Asian. I'm not a big fan of curry and things like that, so that's probably why I didn't really enjoy either. Total price was under $50 which seems very fair. Not sure if I would go back personally, but I still recommend trying them if you're in the area.

These were some of the best skewers I've had and I eat a lot. Both the lamb and beef ones were seasoned perfectly and the surprising part is that it was juicy. Other places tend to overcook it. They cooked it to a nice medium. I feel like they use better quality meat since it was also tender. The pork belly skewers were exceptional. The flavors were shocking and had the perfect balance of sweet and salty. The service was extremely friendly. If you're here to explore Chinatown, I recommend stopping to grab a few skewers to munch on as you walk around the streets. I'll definitely be back!

Meat skewers and sweet corn on the cob were all delicious! We got lamb, beef, and pork belly - all with the spicy seasoning. Staff were polite, service was quick, and the restaurant was clean. The only slightly disappointing part of our meal were the golden buns we got for dessert. The sweet sauce was drizzled on top rather than in a bowl for dipping, so we didn't feel like there was enough sauce for the buns. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and will definitely be coming back soon!

You will always be famous. Food is great quality and lots of options. Something for everyone. Casual dining. Service is not fast but not slow.

Preserved Eggs with Tofu

One of the only Chinese bbq skewer spots in Chinatown, although they have other entrees as well. It's more of a casual place. You order by writing on a paper menu. The skewers are well seasoned and they have extra seasonings on the table if needed but we don't usually use them. I really liked the preserved eggs with tofu and rice cakes with honey. The rice cakes with honey are coated in what tasted like sesame powder so it tasted like a sesame ball without the red bean filling and all the oil. The owners are very friendly. The place is rarely busy so you don't have to worry about a wait. Highly recommend if you're a bbq lover.

Just ate here after a day at PAX Unplugged and it was awesome. Food was hot, came out fast and was reasonably priced. 2 of us with tip ate for $89 the bill was $75.

My favorite go-to place for skewers! Best one you can find in Chinatown and it's a BYOB! I always order the beacon wrapped enoki mushroom. It's so good! I also like chicken meat skewer, which is tender and not too dried. You can sprinkle more seasoning like red pepper powder and cumin if you love spicy spicy like me. This place is small and cozy owned by a small family. Even though they don't understand and speak English well, but they're very friendly and attentive. Everything is good. Except the squid, which is hard and on a chewy side. You need a strong teeth for that lol. I recommended bring some beers to have with your skewers, it's the best pairing! It's a good mood. This place is perfect for anyone who wants to chill with friends and have a yummy small bite snacks.

Super popular skewers place which attracts a younger crowd. We managed to snag the last available table. We ordered by marking how many of each item we wanted on the paper menu. It's a little pricier than skewer carts but the restaurant and a lot more overhead to cover so understandable. They have skewers for meat and vegetables and some noodles dishes that come out on a small grill. We got mild because we can't handle spice. Our first plate of skewers which included beef, lamb, frog legs, chicken wings, heart, gizzard and chives were a tad spicy but everything was really good. My husband didn't like the chives because they were chewy but you just have to pull one strand off the stick and eat the whole piece. The chicken wings were really yummy and had a nice distinct savory flavor. Gizzards and hearts were cooked well and we ordered them again in the second round. The frog legs were a tad dry. We also got squid, Taiwanese sausages, oyster mushrooms, chicken and pork belly. I didn't really like the pork belly because it felt fatty but my husband liked it. The Taiwanese sausage is on the sweeter side but definitely crispy and juicy. The squid tentacle is very tender while the body has more chew and bite. Overall definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the mood for skewers.

The portion size for this place is really good and the food comes out within 10-15 minutes.

The homemade DanDan noodles were our favorite, which are served with ground pork in a spicy peanut sauce. We also got the three cup chicken which was so good, with a sweet, licorice-like glaze. Some other favorites were the black pepper chicken and the long hot chicken, if you enjoy spice. We had the ginger and scallion dish and was not our favorite, as the chicken had a unique consistency and was quite limp. Overall, good service and a relaxing ambiance in a bustling city.

Unfortunately the experience at pickup wasn't the best. I asked if they had included utensils and the gentleman at the counter said no. I asked for some since I was bringing the food back to my hotel and wouldn't have anything to eat with. He was pretty dismissive and didn't seem to want to give me anything. (I also didn't get any napkins.) Just a little strange when ordering takeout, utensils should be included right? Or at the very least be readily given out when requested? He begrudgingly gave me 2 pairs of chopsticks and a fork, said he ran out of spoons. I didn't notice the lack of napkins until I got back. Now for the food. We ordered dan dan noodles, a chicken lo mein, and Taiwanese minced pork rice. The noodle dishes were decent but the lo mein was a bit too al dente for our liking...especially for our young son. Didn't get a chance to eat the rice because we were all too full from the noodles. Appreciate the generous portions at least. Will see if the rice will make it home safely with us and reheats well. Can't speak on the ambience. Wasn't in there long enough to really look around. Will I order from them again or try in person in the future? I'm not sure. I wasn't blown away by the food or service so...

Lazy Sunday after an unsuccessful Memorial Day beach weekend. It was cold and rainy all weekend but…read morewe decided to hit up some beef noodle soup place to warm up. On this cold almost summer day, Nan Zhou was hustling and bustling. Separate parties at the same round table and clients coming in and out of the restaurant facade. Warm lighting and active banter. I received my bowl of beef noodle soup was pretty satisfied. Beef was tender with flavorful bites of fattiness. Somehow, the meat tastes beefier than beef. The cilantro had potent herbaceous flavor with some spinach(?) and mustard greens. Noodles were pleasantly chewy w variation in texture. Lowkey, everything else was alright. I like to be nice so I'll say no more. Cucumbers were fine

This place was packed, which is always a good sign, and even with that the staff stayed super prompt and professional. The house special was my favorite. I got it with the knife-cut noodles and it was perfect with the broth. The noodles had that slightly uneven, chewy texture that really holds onto the soup. I never thought I'd be the type to talk about "mouthfeel" but here we are. The broth itself was rich and savory with a deep beef flavor, a little bit of oil on top that adds body without feeling too heavy. It's that classic, comforting Chinese beef noodle soup done really well. I added a braised egg, which had great flavor soaked into it, though it was served cold, which threw me off a bit. The mapo tofu with noodles was also really solid. It had that signature spicy, numbing kick from the Sichuan peppercorns, balanced with a savory, slightly salty sauce. The tofu was soft and silky, and mixing it with the noodles made it extra satisfying. It's got some heat but not overwhelming, just enough to keep you going back for another bite. The shrimp stir fry was lighter but still flavorful. The shrimp were cooked well, tender with a slight snap, and the sauce leaned more on the savory side with a mild sweetness. It felt like a nice balance alongside the heavier noodle dishes. Couple practical things: it's cash only, but there's an ATM right by the seating area which makes it easy. And the portions are generous for the price, so it feels like a really good deal. Overall, super satisfying spot. Busy, a little chaotic, but the food absolutely delivers. Definitely a go-to if you're craving hand-pulled noodles.

A bit on the higher priced side for this dish but as I've had some great food from a different Han Dynasty location I didn't mind trying them out. Portion size was average on the chicken. The spice level says 8/10 but it was definitely on the weaker side. Maybe the peppers themselves were older / dried out and the flavor faded too much vs fresher peppers right before cooking. Maybe a bad choice of dish or an off day but as compared to a few other Sichuan dry pepper dishes from other restaurants around Philly it was a clear step below them. Might try a different choice if I order again.
