Helpful staff, excellent eye exam and communication about findings, great selection of frames

There are so many hack shops out there... most are looking to sell you everything possible... and most providing overpriced cheap glasses that may or may not be the right prescription. I've been through so many unsatisfactory experiences, again and again... been over charged again and again. Not anymore... Finally, I've found the place to go. Chroma Optics is a true opthalmologist experience that provides accurate prescription and service. Every step along the way from walking in the door through fitting my new glasses, they made me feel special and very comfortable. The whole crew isp top notch. I didn't feel like I was being sold to... In fact, they worked with me to make sure I received the best pricing for what I needed. So glad to have found them... patient for life... or at least as long as I live in Vermont. read more

Start to finish everyone was amazing and felt so welcome! Loved my new glasses! Thank you so much for such great service!

Wish I could give zero. I was told that they accepted medicare BC/BS and VSP insurance. When I left they refused to bill my insurance for my exam. I asked why that was since it was covered by 2 of my insurances. They would n't give me an answer. I think also that they way over-charge for the glasses. read more

I just came from my first appointment with Dr. Sudarsky and it was, without reservation, the most positive experience I've ever had with an eye doctor, with contacts fittings, and with glasses selection. Not only was she professional, efficient, thoughtful, and knowledgeable, she made me feel immediately at ease, like we were pals discussing weekend plans. Dr. Sudarsky and her staff are clearly passionate about vision, eye health, and even self-esteem (aesthetics). I'm sure there are folks out there who don't need their health care professionals to be warm and kind, so long as they receive good care. I'm not one of those people. To me, warmth on the part of the clinician is a necessary ingredient in receiving good care. I came in wearing contact lenses with a terribly out of date prescription and glasses that were worse. Dr. Sudarsky took her time examining my eyes, explaining everything along the way, and she made a thoughtful determination about how best to proceed. I never once felt rushed or patronized and I left the office with a new prescription for daily contacts, beautiful glasses ordered, and a follow-up appointment so that Dr. Sudarsky can make sure my new prescription is working for me. I couldn't believe how beautiful and clear the world looked as I drove to work with those new contacts in my eyes. When I got to work, I sat down at my computer, and for the first time in months, didn't have to put on reading glasses. Thank you Dr. Sudarsky and staff for providing such wonderful care! read more

If I could give 10 stars I would. I broke my glasses frames last week, and took them in to see what my options were. I work in health care and am working hard to prep for COVID-19 patients and needed my glasses desperately. Jordan looked to find replacements but they are weeks out, so she put my lenses into a set of frames they had in the shop was able to do this on very short notice before they closed on Friday. The weekend has been busy, many calls/meetings, and my glasses helped tremendously. Every time I have been in to the store I am always treated in a professional, friendly and respectful manner. Great local business that is customer focused. Thank you all! read more

I first met "Dr. Dora" Sudarsky at her previous position at Eyes of the World. (See my 2014 review for her at Eyes of the World. Also glowing, also 5 stars.) I'm thrilled to see that she's opened her own business! I can't say enough good things about her, and am delighted to follow her here. So, my experience at Chroma Optics. Friendly staff, knowledgeable about their products AND helpful in deciding best frame shape/style to suit one's face. Marvelous selection of frames. Dr. Dora herself: she is dedicated to ocular health, and it shows in the technology she has chosen to invest in. (She's also great at knowing when to rely on the tech, and when not to. I apparently "hyper-focused" in the instrument that checks eye prescription, which would have resulted in too high a prescription if Dr. Dora hadn't double-checked. She warned me to be aware of that if ever I went to another practice. As if I'd go anywhere else!) In addition to being a knowledgeable provider, she's personable and invested in her clients. Five stars all around. read more

I tried all the eye doctors out there - my eyes have had their share of troubles, being injured from a concussion, and I've had enough eye drama for a lifetime. My vision was horrid, but the last guy I went to gave me the message, "sucks to be you." I left his office and cried in my car. I love seeing! A few months later, I ended up under Dora Sudarsky's care. I paid extra for a second exam in the same year because the first was so horrifying. Dora looked into my eyes with her machines, then into my eyes with her heart, and said, "Wow, this is really bad. Let's fix it so you can see!" That kind of kindness is impossible to replicate. Unlike some doctors, she isn't in the profession so she can buy a new boat or own a fancy house. Her mission is to help people see. As for making those glasses -- Chroma Optics has ordinary glasses that fit an ordinary budget, but if you're like me, and feel your eyes deserve to be totally pampered after their multi-year trauma, she also has some of the coolest art-glasses this side of the Atlantic. I love glasses that make me look hip and smart and are so totally cool that people don't notice all my other flaws. Both Dora Sudarsky and her technicians have tremendous aesthetic taste, and let you know if the glasses you're trying look less than flattering, or if they make you look amazing. But then they back off and let you fall in love. I can't say enough how excited I am that someone like this is in Burlington. We are so lucky! read more

I have been a patient of Dr Sudarsky's For many years. The care and service i have received from her and staff is second to none.

Excellent, friendly service. On time, personal and caring. I had an eye exam and they made it easy and comfortable. I think I had contact with everyone who works there and they were all great- and happy! That tells me a lot about a business! Thank you Dr. Dora and team! read more

We felt that Dr. Dora was a good doctor, however, we were really disappointed when she reprimanded an employee while we were in her office for giving me a copy of my prescription when I called a couple of months earlier. Clearly, she wanted me to only buy my contacts in her office. We felt that it was unprofessional and clearly money is a priority based on this and past visits. read more

Terrible place. Way too expensive they Nickle and dime you on everything. Make sure you check the last invoice. Much better and cheaper glasses shops in the area. read more

Nice folks but fairly disorganized (although to be fair they were experiencing weird power issues the day of). My doctor wasn't Dr. Sudarsky and unfortunately I don't know the name of the woman who assisted me. I came in for a new patient visit but also had a stye that needed to be addressed. I went through all of the motions of a normal new patient exam and everything just felt off. The Dr mentioned multiple times that she wasn't that familiar with the computer systems and her floundering made me a little concerned. At one point she guessed (before the chart exam but after I stuck my face in a bunch of machines and they read the prescription off my glasses) which was my stronger eye and I told her I thought she had it backwards, she did. There was some weird charging to pay for the medical portion of the exam (i.e."the stye") but it wasn't well explained, she pulled out a card reader and phone from her purse and ran my credit card. After my appointment I went to check out and the front desk said the paperwork had been entered incorrectly but they went ahead and charged me saying the receipt would be emailed that night. It always makes me nervous when I'm asked to pay for something without a receipt so I clarified my email and asked to make sure it was sent. It never came in, had to call the next day and request it. I also thought it was strange that nobody cleaned and adjusted my glasses. I didn't buy them there but I couldn't think of any other place I've been to which didn't do that while you were in the appointment. It's a small detail but I missed it. There also wasn't much of an attempt to sell me glasses or contacts. I was trying a new contact lens so I can understand they wanted me to get a feel for them but I haven't had any contact from anyone in the two weeks since I visited so I suppose I'll go seek them out elsewhere. Overall just a mediocre experience which is a bummer. I have high standards for medical providers and unfortunately they weren't met. read more

While at the car dealership, I bent my prescription raybans, also the nose pieces were misaligned and I didn't know how to fix it. I found Chroma Optics just a couple of blocks away (never happens) and stopped in to see if they had time to fix said glasses. Not only did the lovely woman on the desk take them immediately, but I was greeted by THE cutest doggo called Olive! The optometrist fixed my glasses in the blink of an eye, and brought to me clean and perfect again! Best part...no charge! Gotta say y'all made my day AMAZING service here - highly recommend!! read more

Recently moved to VT and was finally able to get new glasses. This place was recommended to me by a co-worker and I have to say I was just as impressed with the staff as I was with the technology this office uses! Thanks for the great care!! read more

An office that goes above and beyond what anyone should expect from a medical office these days. With so much being pushed on doctors from the gov't and insurance mandates. I was amazed by the time spent to care for the needs of the patient. I've never had such an experience. Staff was very helpful. I can't say enough good about Chroma Optics and Dr. Sudarsky. I give them 10 stars if I could!! read more

I had a prescription already so I didn't need an exam but wanted to update my current frames/lenses (progressives). I will be returning in to the future to having my eye exams done here. I saw all the wonderful reviews and was ready to give Chroma a chance after not having such good luck in the past with mall stores, Walmart and even on line frame/lenses stores. This store is so nice, clean, what a variety to choose from. Everyone was very nice and Jordan was a huge help. I was ready for a bit of a change but not drastic. She gave me lots of choices and finally narrowed down to three I liked best. She was really friendly and helpful in helping me decide what looked best. She had great customer service skills which I can't say from my last experience (two coworkers were clearly cat fighting and my technician took her crappy day out on me. Thankfully, I excused myself for the restroom and bolted). I love the frame I choose and will get them in 7-10 days. I'll update my review at that time. The price was a bit more than I would have liked but I also got progressives which "ARE" more expensive and I also got the reflective glare on my lenses as well with a 2-year scratch warranty. Plus, it's your eye's and they deserve the best! For the price and having them most likely for several years, it's totally worth it. What a great place. Just wish I could give it more than five stars. read more

This store is amazing for a lot of reasons! The staff are extremely knowledgable about every detail of how eyeglasses should look, feel and fit. They truly want you to find the best pair for you and are eager to help. Their selection is un-be-liev-able. I've been wearing glass my whole life and I've never had so many pairs to choose from - one frame was better than the next. They are carefully curated with a variety of styles and price points. Seriously, I've never seen a selection like this. Usually at an eyeglass store they have a wall with the cool, hip frames. But here, every single frame was awesome on every wall and shelf, it just depends on what you're looking for. Make sure you have enough time to pick out your glasses because you'll want to try every single pair on! I've owned about 20 glasses in my life, don't go anywhere else. read more
