On a recent trip to Sequoia my friend Denise and i stayed here. When I booked the place I did so…read moreafter consulting a few websites but not really diving into them, so I did not know what this place was about. I just knew it was rustic--- on theme for a woods-forward trip- and close to Sequoia. And I assumed it was, at its core, an inn in a town. When Denise and I arrived we discovered that what awaited us was different than what we expected- not in an extreme way, but, in a way that separated where we slept from where we had to shower. These two points were far enough that we would need to walk from our room to another structure. Not a far walk, but still a walk that felt inconvenient because we are city folk, not outhouse people, even if they are modernized. I do not know if I made it clear, Denise and I discovered that what I booked was a cabin with no bathroom and the bathroom was like a 10 to 15 feet walk to a modern outhouse that felt impossible to get to, especially in the black and cold of the night. Denise and I were introduced to our shed turn cabin at around 10::00 p.m. We quickly accepted that we did not have a typical inn room, I had opted for the green cabin. It was a form of glamping. The actual room was snug. She took the bed up that up a ladder, like the one one walks up when they have bunk beds. And I stayed on the bottom bed. The place had a table, hooks, the beds a tv mounted on a corner and not much else. It was a place to sleep, and watch tv while laying down on the bed, it was not much more. So when I call it a cabin, do not imagine a cabin in the woods with a fire, a bear rug, a couch with quilted cushions and a mounted elk on the wall. It literally was what I described before--- mostly a couple of beds with a shed built around it. I showered in the outhouse the next morning. It had two stalls with a toilet and three to four showers, with one out of order. I had stepped into the bathroom of mountain folk and as a vacation experience it slapped, if it were my regular life, I would miss the privacy and comfort of a city bathroom with its sturdy plumbing and opportunity for me to blast my beats as I shower. When I went inside my shower, I saw that the shower was not a shower-head mounted on a wall. Instead it was one of those shower heads that is like a hose. You can pick it up, and shower with it while you scrub yourself with one hand, and hold the shower head with the other. I did not fully understand how to change from old clothes to my new clothes, so I ended up wetting my new clothes. I left them in the corner of the shower, and I believed that the water from the shower hose would not get them, but it did. For those who think that they would have handled the situation better than I did, even thought it was their first time, like it was my first time, I say they are probably right. I tend to be clumsy and miss hooks, and not really think of clothes enough to protect them from hose water that can run wild. In this place, one has to prepare logistically to tackle a shower. When Denise and I woke up the next morning, we were able to see the expansive wood scenery that awaited us. It was precious and majestic and the pay-off of enduring the lack of city comforts. The place also had this patio area with fairies, they were ceramic of course, but maybe at a certain time of day they awake at least for seconds to tend to the woods so they keep green and strong. I sat there. Took pictures of the trees, through a netting roof, and at this moment knew I was in a rustic-wood dream sponsored by dust of fairies, and I was in a state of stiff calm that settled by a nymph's blessing. With the poetic stripped, the place offered me peace because I was surrounded with pronounced nature in the form of tall trees, dirt trails, a blue sky, and I was not in a rush. I could simply enjoy the blue, green and brown all around me, with ticks of the clock ignored. I guess that is the promise of a vacation in the woods fulfilled. There was also a cat that belonged to the place. It was peached colored and clipped in all its glory. I forgot its name. Denise and I took a short walk to the small clearing behind the inn. And the cat decided to nestle besides her. So this place also has another charming quality of a good inn: a permanent guest, of the feline persuasion, that always greets visitors with a purr and a paw. Those kind of touches transformed our wooden cabin in the woods, into a wooden cabin in the woods where we interacted with a four legged creation, not a moose or a bear, but still the spirit of nature's animals was all around us. I just re-saw the picture of the tall trees behind the netting roof and I felt the umph of nature's breeze hitting my inside again. The magic of the woods came home with us, great souvenir if you ask me!

From the moment we rolled in, we relaxed our breath into the cradling caring arms of Cyndi's Snowline Lodge. Natural darkness descending around us- Robert was quick to invite us into the warmly lit communal lodge area, which was brimming with personality. He showed us a fun silverware balancing bar trick, while Lucky the dog, looked on with heavy lidded amusement. We were the only ones staying at the lodge that night. Our room was darling and clean and smelled fresh. The wi-fi was working well. We slept unbelievably well. Showering was a dream in the morning with strong hot water pressure. Cindi brought us up fresh squeezed orange juice and invited us down for a hot lovingly made breakfast spread - which included hot waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, and light potatoes. We also indulged in wondrous coffee and an impressive selection of tea. Cindy even had Pink Himalayan Salt on hand for us to adorn our food - which we indulged in both there and on our backpacking adventure. Cyndi and the rest of the loving folk who help run this charming lodge take immense care and pride in making sure that all those who stay here feel welcomed and taken care of. They go out of their way to make everyone's stay both memorable and comfortable. We can't wait to come back to Cyndi's Snowline Lodge. Trust.

My bf and i were driving for ages the previous day and i was super tired and my head was not working. Gabriela was so helpful, she alerted the front desk and even helped me call my phone. With her help I traced back where I misplaced it. She's so amazing and so kind to do that! I appreciate it so much. I was so frantic since we are so many miles away and going on a trip to Sequoia and without my phone we would definitely be in a lot of trouble. Thank you so much, you are such an amazing wonderful person!!

We decided to find an alternative place to stay for the night and during our search came across Best Western. Customer Service assisted us quickly and thankfully they had a room available for us. Reserving was quick and easy. When we arrived we checked in at the front desk--it also went quick and smooth, with no issues whatsoever. Pricing was fair for what we were getting and the room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Tv had plenty of channels to browse through, the bed was very comfortable and we had a great night's sleep. In the morning, before checking out, we went downstairs to their breakfast, included with our reservation, and it was basic, but good!! We filled up on waffles, eggs and sausage, though they also carry cereals, yogurt, bagels and other items. Overall had a wonderful experience here and would definitely come back!

Room rate: $185/night…read more Positives The office staff seemed friendly. Overall, the grounds were nice. The proximity to Lake Kaweah was an added plus. The outward appearance of the motel seemed pleasant. It is also a great location to access Sequoia NP. That said, there were numerous issues. We were assigned to unit #1 (closest to the office), which I DO NOT recommend for the following reasons: 1) Initially, the hot water in the room was lukewarm at best. We asked them to adjust it which they did. It went from low lukewarm to medium lukewarm. Barely warm enough to take showers. Ironically the room instructions say guests are supposed to wash dishes before check out or be charged a fee. How clean can the dishes get with lukewarm water? Should the health and well-being of subsequent guests rely on how well previous guests wash dishes with lukewarm water? We're paying almost $200/night and have to wash dishes? 2) There is a charge for ice. Never came across this before, ever. See photo of guest instructions. We're paying almost $200/night and have to pay extra for ice? 3) Cabin/unit 1 is closest to a pen where they keep sheep and goats on site. The view of the lake is obscured by 1) the sheep pen, 2) a large bush 3) two large trees and 4) a window half covered with water spots (made even worse in the morning with glare from the morning sun. The trees provided shade, the bush didn't. Other cabins had the benefit of bushes that were trimmed for better visibility. Not sure why we got this cabin when others were available when we checked in. Several other parties checked in on Saturday (the day after we did) so other cabins were available at the time we checked in. 4) No TV remote in the bedroom. Had to download a remote app to control volume and on/off. TV instructions (in the living room) as written, did not work. The TV went dark without notice and didn't respond to the remote control. It responded to turning it off and back on - sometimes. There were other times that only way to get the TV to respond was by unplugging it, wait a minute or two and plugging it back in. These were daily issues. Multiply that by the number of days you're there and annoying doesn't begin to describe the frustration. While watching the NBA finals, the TV shutoff with 6:00 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter. Wasn't able to get it to turn on again. Seriously? Note the photo of cables and extension cords hanging from the TV. Not a very neat appearance and could be a safety hazard. We're paying almost $200/night to have recurring TV issues? 5) When the toilet clogged and I reported it to the front desk, I was handed a plunger and a plastic bag to put it in afterwards. Seriously? Never cleared a toilet in a hotel before. Usually, maintenance handles that. We're paying almost $200/night and have to unclog the toilet? 6) On Saturday 6/14, we notified the office of water on the floor under the frig. On Sunday 6/15, we were in Sequoia NP all day, so the unit was available for someone to look at the frig. We arrived back at the room around 4:00 p.m. Water was still on the floor under the frig. Water was in the grout lines all over the floor. Same thing happened on 6/17. We were in Kings Canyon all day. When we got back the grout lines around the frig were wet again (see photos). If anyone looked at the frig there was no communication letting us know. We're paying almost $200/night to have recurring leaks under the frig? 7) There is an envelope in the room so that you can leave housekeeping a tip. If you're simply doing your job, that's not worthy of a tip. Given the cob webs and water spots on the windows they are not doing their job. Note - all units are single story making the windows reachable to be cleaned. Not sure why they don't clean the window during their housekeeping rounds or in between guests. 8) One window in the living room with an a/c unit had a cluster of dead insects and spider webs on the outside surface (see photo). Not the most appealing thing to look at. We're paying almost $200/night to look at dead insects and spider webs? 9) On a Monday morning 6/16 (our third morning) my wife showed me photos of roaches in both the bathroom and the kitchen. See photos. Given the lack of response to the leaking frig, I opted to get a can of bug spray from the front office and spray the kitchen and bathroom myself. I wasn't about to live with this nastiness one minute longer than necessary. Photos also show the dead ones the following morning. No urgency from the front desk when I asked for bug spray. They made a note for the Terminex man. No immediate action was taken. Almost $200/night to deal with roaches? I do not recommend this place.
