Some of the best wings in town! Great place to just relax, have a beer and watch a game.

Having worked there many years ago, I know how quickly the restaurant fills and how quickly it needs to empty in order to get everyone out to the show. We arrived at 4:30 for 7 o'clock show and it was perfect. Tony's is not the kind of place you want to rush through dinner. The design of the restaurant, especially the comfy, dark booths, being serenaded by Sinatra, is conducive for having a completely relaxing ,low-key experience. We both ordered Aperol Spritzers and they did not disappoint. We skipped the appetizers in lieu of their delicious bread with an olive tapenade and EV olive oil, deciding to hold out for dessert instead. Our server, Slade, was very accommodating as we both ended up put twists on our meals. My friend ordered a Caesar with beautifully, grilled salmon, rare as requested and I asked for chicken piccata instead of the veal. My entree was light, lemony and the pounded chicken breasts moist and delicious. Next time I will ask for extra capers as I prefer them to be on the heavy side. Just a personal preference, no slight on the order. Slade, our server, was attentive, knowledgeable, funny, and had the ability to make us feel at home, while never being obtrusive. Having worked in almost every aspect of hospitality during my career, Slade has the special "something" that you can't teach. Either you have it or you don't. IYKYK. To top off our dinner, 2 cappuccinos and an amazing, warm bread pudding. Plate licking ,we understand at Tony's, is frowned on, so we did restrain ourselves! I don't get to Tony's nearly as often as I would like to. But every time I return, I remember everything that has made the place so special and successful for many years. Thank you to the kitchen and Slade for making an ordinary Thursday feel like a holiday!

The waiter did not do a good job of coming to our table to check in on us, drink orders, and refilling our waters. This time I tired some of the lamb chop which was cooked well and tasted amazing for an appetizer. For the main entree this time, I had a special which was a halibut with a linguini pasta. The fish was cooked pretty good and so was the pasta (al dente) however the sauce that it was served in was quite bland. Definitely a letdown with the sauce which made me not finish the pasta. If they nailed the sauce with something savory and complimentary to the fish, this would've kept the high praise review. Overall, this experience was unfortunately a letdown with the food and staff/service, probably a bit of an unfortunate choice in meal and poor waiter for my table. Hopefully my next visit which will be in the far future is better. Food(50%): 6.5 Staff/service(25%): 4.0 Value(25%): 5.0 Overall: 5.5/10

TO BE FAIR THE WINGS WERE FIRE And I WENT ON A MONDAY…read more I'm giving this place 3/5 stars because the food was great, the hostess was extremely attentive but I simply did not get the full experience of the location due to the time and day. Therefore, I will need to revisit to give a better review. I visited The Blue Duck this past Monday, on Presidents' Day at happy hour. I got there around 3 and left just before 5. The wings were 5 for a little over $5 or something like that. Which honestly $1 wing in this economy! Excellent for my pockets. Anyways, the place was quiet, a few people did start coming in as I was leaving, and again, I came on a Monday. Not really a peak bar day. But I would say the location is near the water which is a plus. The seating area at the bar was massive. I'm curious to see how busy it gets on the weekend. This isn't necessarily and instagramable/ social media picturesque kind of spot. Ok, so the wings- I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH- they were AMAZING . I love it when the skin after being smothered in sauce is still crispy. And they were! The blue cheese wasn't liquidity or too chunky. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The best part- for me- is that they were the shoestring kind of fries. I'm not big on the steak fries or thicker cuts. They were salted just right! No condiments needed for dipping. I ordered two drinks, which I honestly wasn't too impressed by. But it's my bad. I probably should have stuck to shots or basics like A sour of some sort. Idk. The other drinks could be delicious. Overall the only reason at this point that I'm coming back is the wings. Truthfully, the only reason I traveled 45 minutes to New London was after seeing an IG post about all-you-can-eat wings on Mondays. Sadly they aren't doing that anymore.

Really promising in terms of decor, but a big let down for the food…read more The $8 charge in chicken was ridiculously high, moving a platter of nachos from $15 to $23, for chicken that is not particularly flavorful nor plentiful. We got a platter of nachos and the only exciting thing was the sheer size of it: one platter served five people, with some more to spare. The nachos were dry, flavorless, and was almost like dipping chips into a generic grocery store queso. All the vegetables were raw, so it didn't add much to the dish. I'd recommend really seasoning at least one element of the tray, like the vegetables, and it would have been decent. The Nashville fried chicken sandwich was spicy without flavor. Another massive portion size with plenty of fries, but nothing I would order again. Sweet Thai chili sauce that came with the Brussels sprouts had the texture of wet corn starch that had been mixed in with a bottled chili sauce--gloopy and oddly too sweet.

There were 6 of us for brunch and none of us had been here before. The Shipwright's Daughter rivals many excellent experiences we had and surpasses most. The staff was super friendly and did everything they could to make our experience memorable. The brunch menu offers a nice assortment of options as we had one member in our party who had some eating restrictions. We started off with both raw and roasted oysters, both of which, we some of the best we have ever had. I love Shashuka. I've never had it with tomatillos. This version is now my favorite. I enjoyed the play between savory and acid. I chose my eggs to be prepared over easy expecting the yolks to add the desired richness that tomatillos can handle without overpowering their bite. What set this version apart for me was the addition of the pickled vegetables. They greatly complimented the tomatillos with their own sweetness and acidity that made for a well balanced bite. Others in our party felt similarly, that their meals were so flavorful and so well execucted that it made for a superb dining experience.
