Christine was awesome! I would only recommend her for any of your alteration needs. I ordered my wedding gown from Spain and they took my measurements when I was visiting there in store but it still needed a lot of work. It is also a non-traditional wedding gown with thick fabric, a lot of straight beading, long sleeves, high neck, and a VERY LONG train. Christine was so creative about how to get the perfect bustle which took a lot longer than normally would, but she was so calm and always seemed to have a solution. She also is very knowledgable about making sure the dress will let you walk, dance, sit, look good in different picture poses. When I had my second fitting, something still didn't feel right about it, so we did a few more adjustments and then next time it was PERFECT! She is the best price for the best work! Not only did she have to take in the whole dress, but she also had to take off about 6 inches at the bottom with three different fabric layers. Christine was wonderfully creative in altering the dress- she cut the bottom of the dress so the layers of tulle, lace, and satin could all be seen AND she added a train. I wasn't very excited about the idea of a train, but Christine and my mom convinced me it would look beautiful- and it did! Christine is absolutely fantastic! The story: My bridesmaid dress wasn't delivered until 2 weeks before the wedding. I was kind of in panic mode, because it was a strapless and I knew it would need to be altered. Without doing any real research, I went to the closest seamstress I could find (not Christine), and after trying it on for her, she proceeded to tell me there was nothing she could do because it DIDN'T FIT. I'm talking like, too small, no way a pair of Spanx could help out with that. It didn't zip up all the way in the back and had a good few inches of gap between the sides of the fabric. She sent me on my way, pastel purple bridesmaid dress in hand, with little hope in sight. Enter, the amazing Christine. After Googling and Yelp-ing frantically that night, I found Christine and gave her a call the next morning. I explained the situation to her, and the whole time she was totally, completely calm about everything and was super willing to help me out. I scheduled an appointment with her the next day, tried the dress on, she eyed the dress up and then let the sides out and the thing FIT. She also offered to put in some panels on the dress, but her expert sewing skills on just letting the sides out did the job perfectly. I know it doesn't seem like much, just to let the sides out on a dress, but when you're down to kind of the last minute with a dress that is too small, you panic. And Christine was so incredibly helpful, it just made the experience that much better. The bottom line: Christine takes a lot of pride in her work, is really thorough, and she has a really fast turnaround time. I highly recommend her for alterations, especially as she works a lot with bridal and bridesmaid dresses, too. I'm a happy customer! read more

Bottom line: You won't find a better deal anywhere (believe me, I tried), and the work is top notch. I took a dress to Christine because it needed to be taken in a LOT (5 inches). The material was stretchy velvet and the dress needed to be shaped and altered a lot, so it was a somewhat tricky job, but she did perfectly. I called about 6 tailors, and Christine was almost half the price of all of them. But when I talked to her, she actually recommended another tailor she thought might be cheaper! I took 2 dresses to Christine at the same time--a bridesmaid dress for a wedding I was in and my wedding gown. Both turned out wonderfully and the turnaround time was very quick! For the bridesmaid dress, she simply hemmed the two layers of fabric--it seemed a little pricey (though not moreso than anywhere else), but it was worth it to me as I was very busy around that time. For my bridal gown, which I bought secondhand, she did a hem in the front by pulling up additional folds into the fabric (difficult to explain, but the bottom of the gown was "bubbled" so this worked really well), made some repairs to stitches holding the folds of fabric, and cut the boning so that it was not so long on my short torso. She was very patient about making sure that everything was just right and to my satisfaction. She also had a great recommendation for where to get the gown pressed to make it look absolutely perfect. I was glad to support Christine's business, and if I were still living in the Twin Cities, I'd definitely go back to her. read more

I called to request a fitting and alteration for a cocktail dress for my residency graduation. I was unable to stop by her house at the hours that she was available (which, unless you only work part time, were somewhat unrealistic), and I therefore proprosed possible options (weekend? a little later in the evenings on a day that worked for her?). She instead responded that this wouldn't work and casually suggested I try the "tailor" in the Rosedale mall, as if that were really a comparable option. It's unfortunate, because no one would ever dismiss the fitting of a wedding dress like that. For me, however, this was a comparable event--the celebration of years of being unable to make the hours of businesses such as hers. I found Christine on yelp and I'm so happy I did. I took a gamble and had a dress custom made in a China for $170 (I know I know.) It definitely needed to be altered when it came. Christine worked wonders on the dress, which had a lot of excess fabric around the hips and was too tight around the thighs. She added multiple bustles in the under layer as well as the lace layer and they held all night long, even after being dragged around a beach. I found Christine on Yelp and spoke with her before I even ordered the bridesmaid's dress for my friend's wedding. Even though I had followed the measurements on the dress company's website, when the dress came in a few weeks later, it was insanely huge. I had also ordered it with extra length, so it was also very long. This was no problem for Christine. She just pinned up the dress to where it was comfortable on me. She also suggested leaving the extra length in the train to create a longer train which could then be bustled (which she would put in). When I went back, I was extremely stressed as I was leaving for the wedding the next day and I was having trouble finding undergarments that worked with the dress. However, the dress had been so well-altered and fit to my body that it was a non issue. She was a miracle worker. And her prices were very reasonable! All the stress associated with the dress was removed and I got a lot of compliments on it when I wore it. I highly recommend Christine. Her work is excellent! Addendum: 6/2014 I went back to Christine to have her look over a dress I had custom ordered online and that had some fit issues. She took time to pin it and tried some options but determined that the dress was constructed poorly.
