This bakery replaced a Wimpy's diner and I was curious to see how they would manage such a large space for a bakery. The store is well laid out with fridges and freezers that line the store, jam packed with delicious oven ready meals and hard to find eats. There are also isles stocked with jams, coffee, tea, pot noodles, biscuits and snacks from the old country. And in-store baked breads are spread out on tables near the display cases. I picked up 6 assorted meat pies and some Queen Victoria's during this visit and shared them with my family. I don't often make meat pies anymore as the kid still has yet to develop the taste for it, but for the adults in the family, this was a lovely treat to pick up several different flavours to sample (chicken pot pie, steak and gravy, steak and mushroom). We enjoyed our selection of pies and the dessert and look forward to returning to try out more delicious eats!

Flurry, not too sweet, a tad dry. Canele was very disappointing. The outer had a nice bitter taste but not crunchy (it should be crunchy) rather, sticky soft... Interior had a large air pocket, which I feel is a structural defect. Lemon Meringue Tart - each part (meringue, lemon custard, tart base) was good, but integration was not. Tart base was too hard for the other super soft filling. Opera was surprisingly good. Although its looks did not have the precision that I expect for opera cake, it had very delicate layers. Almond cake base, smooth chocolate ganache, coffee butter cream, crispy top layer, and detectable rum kick. I liked it. Nice texture as well. I regretted not buying tart tartan - because many people seem to like it. Also sourdough - I think I should come back to try these :) !!!!

Inside there are rows and shelves of fresh breads, danishes, strudels, pies, focaccia, cookies, croissants and even a grocery cart of baguettes. I tried an apple danish on this occasion. The pastry was flaky with a crispy exterior but a nice softness inside. The apple filing had real apple slices and was sweet and slightly sticky. Everything was well balanced and delicious.
