Alright where do I start and like most stories I guess from the beginning...So way back in August 2021 we were looking to install new flooring in our parents home we purchased in Henrietta...We first approached Rochester Flooring and although they showed up in a timely fashion they didn't bother to follow up after the appraisal which is strange given the fact we were spending a ton of money...And so given the fact we have driven passed Christian Flooring at their Webster location many times over the years we thought we would give them a try...We went inside looked around and found they had plenty of various flooring to choose from, which is fantastic...Next we asked to have someone come out and give us an estimate on this project...Sure as the sun shines they came out, did the estimate gave us a great deal and then the fun begins...Now before I start this tale I must state the obvious...The workforce shortage we're all painfully aware of has impacted many things in our world and thus I am not hating but just stating fact, the workforce shortage sucks!...Okay so given this situation we understand some of the delays in our project...Second the whole "shipping" issue again that we're all experiencing sucks so there's not much anyone can do in that regard, so we waited and waited and waited some more...But some communication from the sales staff could have been better at keeping us informed of any and all delays...So after about a little over three months the flooring had arrived and we were notified of it's availability and to schedule the install date, which we did...We were told in would take a 5 day work week to install and so I asked for that week off from work...Now comes the first day of the install...8am nobody...9am nobody...10am nobody...11am I call the store and was told that the "head" guy called in and thus the install wouldn't be happening that day and we'll have to see what happens the next day...Sure as the sun shines a no show but a phone call from the installer that he'll be there between 11am and 1pm to start this project...So he shows up, nice young man, but all alone to work on an entire house of flooring...He works and works and works til at 5 pm I ask how long will he be in our home, to which he replied as long as you want, I can work til 9pm...Now I'm off work for this install but my wife is busting her butt at work and the last thing she needs is pounding, sawing and hammering til 9pm...But we let it go just to get through this whole thing...Third day same as the second, but we asked him to leave by 8pm so we could have some down time before bed, he then left...Next day more of the same etc...Now it's Friday and there's still three rooms to remove carpeting from and install the flooring, this time he leaves at 6pm and states "they'll" be back on Saturday morning, I was excited to hear the word "they" as in more than one...Come Saturday morning the "crew" arrives, 3 guys ready to work and work they did until about 5pm, another day gone, a weekend day no less...BUT...They're short on some moldings and they'll have to be ordered, moldings that Home Depot or Lowes has, but I digress...So again we wait, wait and wait some more and after 3 weeks I contacted the store to ask what's the hold up and was told that it was a supply issue once more...Okay so we waited and after two weeks or so "I" was contacted for a change and was told that they were ready to finish the job, thank God and Grey Hound bus for that info...So they arrived, installed the moldings and life was good again...Here's the bottom line folks...Great prices, great products...But they farm out the install to a second party and thus they take little to no responsibility for their sub-contractors...Communication needs some improvement, especially when people are given an install date and have to take off from work only to sit home on the first day waiting for nothing when I could have worked that day and saved one of my precious vacation days for another time...This end today's sermon... read more
