I purchased a jeep from Carmax on January 29 and discovered that the right window was not working and there was a noise coming from underneath the car. Christiansen's automotive is a partner to a Carmax and I took it in there to have it checked out. After they received the authorization from Carmax they took care of the window and found that one of the struts was leaking, they replace both struts balanced the car and did a 25 point check and computer diagnostic. Craig the service writer was great, answered all my questions and took care of everything with Carmax . I picked up my car yesterday and it drives like a dream, I will be using them for all of my service needs for my Jeep and for all of the work under my extended warranty. I highly recommend them, they have a beautiful facility large and lots of mechanics, they have been in business for many years and have other locations. Ask just replace brake pads , advisor insist replacing the rotor without looking at the car at all , previous rotors were in great condition .Later I get to know this is one of typical "thing" some shops practice . Quote me $650 for front wheel without any inspection initially later lower to $470 (without Inspecting the problem I mentioned ) , parts are 40% more than regular . Same shop under same name in Reno later quote me $350. Mock the customer . Brake still makes noise after the work , have to leave Carson city same day , couldn't go back to this , will not recommend this shop. read more

As a 4 decade resident of Las Vegas, I have seen it all. Purfect Auto was convicted of cutting fan belts to get more revenue. This is everyone's suspicion of every mechanic, which is warranted. Everyone, knowledgeable or not, just wants the bottom line. A short fix, or what would be the best in the long run. We just want an honest answer. Like two years ago, I paid top dollar to have my front brakes and rotors replaced and in return they put low quality parts back on my car. When I called because my car squeaks from the rotors having heat marks, they claimed that their computers were down so unless I had my actual receipt, they couldn't change the rotors. After many years of taking my vehicles to Christensen's Automotive in Carson City, I am highly disappointed with my recent experience. After taking my vehicle in for a warranty repair on work they completed 10k miles earlier, they completed the repair (rear axle seal), but now informed that my ABS was activating when slowing to a stop. The brakes were working properly prior to the repair. tThe vehicle was left with them so they could diagnose the issue. Scott, service advisor, informed that they could not diagnose the ABS issue. Knowing that the issue was very likely associated with the alleged repair, Scott stated that it wasn't. The next day I took the vehicle to our local dealership where they stated that the axle seal had failed. Christensen had completed this job twice in 10k miles. Instead of checking their repair, Scott attempted to gaslight me into believing it was something unrelated to the repair they had completed. Christensen's stated that if the dealership confirmed it was their repair issue, they would fix it a third time. NOPE!!! I paid the dealership for the repair and after being fixed correctly, no ABS issues. read more

Had a Stalling Problem ( which could be quite dangerous ) ... and car died out when putting transmission into reverse. 2006 Mercury .. Have been going to Christensen Automotive for years and very satisfied, particularly because of Schell, the top guy in office. This month, March 2022, found some big changes! Schell has left the business, leaving a big hole that I don't see being filled if today was any indication. Toby, resident expert in repairing GM vehicles, also left. Couple others left as well. Despite being senior female, I know my way around automotive business, and resent being talked down to! And that's just what happened this time, starting with Scott who has been there a while. As the Service Advisor, Scott scheduled my car a week out so that his best mechanic now, Jon, could do the work on my car. (I had already done a little checking on Jon' back- ground.) When I called at noon because I hadn't heard from Scott with an estimate, he gave it to me and said "Jeff is helping Jon" on my car. (Four hands on the replacement of actuator? How come? "Jon has a big job to do".) Learned later from Jeff he did the entire job. You think I just got put into 'not important' category? If Schell were still there, this would not have happened; his word meant something. When I arrived to p/u my vehicle, I asked Scott where old part was (I always ask for old parts. I had written it down earlier and highlighted, and reminded him on phone); whoops, he forgot, smiling and chewing on big wad of gum. There is more to the story, but seemed obvious to me I was no longer a customer whose business was valued. AFTER THOUGHT: One day I will drive to Reno, Corwin Ford, where Schell is now working and see if taking my GM vehicle to Ford dealer for service will work! read more

I had a whining sound from my truck. Had my water pump and timing belt replaced by Christensen in Reno a couple years ago so I towed vehicle to the Carson shop. Took them 3 days to look at it and was told my power steering pump was bad, oil leaks on valve covers, dirty drive train fluids including my sealed transmission, rattling timing belt which required a whole new replacement of the previous water pump and timing work done. Was almost 4k. Yikes I could not do that so I had towed to dealer in carson and 1 day was diagnosed with alternator going bad and it caused serpentine belt to wear quickly. Had all other items checked that were supposed to be bad and it came back all was good. So repair cost was 900 bucks and I'm running again. Crazy they I was told totally different parts and imaginary issues from Christensen. Never going back. read more

Not happy--- Called the Las Vegas Warm Springs location to set up an oil change. Told them all veh. info. and it was a diesel truck. Was told "No problem". Was also told no appointment needed. Showed up to that location and was told they did not have the diesel oil for the oil change. Was also told if they did, it would be very expensive. Showed them a coupon which I got off their web site. Was told the coupon was no good at their location. The coupon did not specify location. It appears they just did not want to do the oil change for the coupon price. I am a full time RV'er and know a lot of other RV'ers in the Las Vegas area. Will not recommend Christensen Automotive as they can't even seem to be able to do complete an oil change. read more

Sadly, I originally liked them, but here's what I've experienced. In 2015 I had my rack and pinion replaced. In 2016, it was replaced again under their 2-year warranty. Had my ball joints replaced in 2016 as well, and took it back after hearing clunking noises. They could not find anything. Take it in for an oil change a year later and am told my differential is leaking. Though I have never seen it leak in my garage. They also say that that may have been the clunking from a year before. Get it home and notice new leaks from the area of the differential, which I never had before. Fast forward to 2019, again had to replace my rack and pinion which of course is no longer under warranty. I take it back 3-weeks later because I noticed a pink fluid leak on my drip pan, and hear my power-steering squealing. Now they say it's my transmission lines leaking, and my power steering pump, which was only replaced the first time in 2015, may be going. Couldn't they have figured that out when I was there for the third rack and pinion? So, since I've never had the transmission flushed I get the lines replaced and the transmission flushed. Get a call during service that they noticed my water pump leaked while there overnight. Said since they were already in the engine, it would be less labor to get it replaced now. So I did. Get the bill when I pick up the vehicle at closing and am told they gave me a 10 % discount on parts and 10% discount on labor. They are locking up and I'm the last person there so I pay without really checking the charges. I get home and see they still charged me 2.53 hours of labor for the water pump, at $311.19. They gave me less than 10% off labor, and no visible discount on parts. I have AAA, which gives a 10% discount, which apparently wasn't honored. I called the next morning and voiced my concerns. Am told they gave me discounts on the parts, but there is no way to tell how much (if any) on the bill. Am told they waived the hour diagnostic fee, which I thought would be waived When asked about the 10% labor and how they even calculated it? No answer. Just that they gave me the unseen (and no way to verify) discount on parts, and waived the diagnostic fee, which I thought would be waived anyway because I had the work done. So, I'm now with the others and will no longer take my business there. read more

We were referred here by someone we know and trust for an unexpected eco-boost error code on our F150 while pulling our trailer. They are a very busy shop, so it took them a couple days to fit us in. They checked everything but the code would only 'throw" while pulling the trailer, so they could not replicate it. They were great at keeping us updated on timeline and the did a test drive and checked all parts of the eco boost system. read more

I had my vehicle towed to Christensen Automotive after the dealership that I purchased it from told me that it needed a new engine (they weren't even willing to check the compression of my valves prior to making this statement)-- also, my car is slightly over 100,000 miles and I am the original owner. My husband and I primarily spoke with Schell, the manager, who is extremely knowledgeable and genuine. Schell called to give us updates every couple of days and was more than willing to go the extra mile to get my vehicle back on the road. To my surprise, my vehicle was repaired and running in a reasonable amount of time (considering the extent of the damages, repairs, and parts that needed to be ordered from across the country). I am extremely satisfied with the professionalism displayed by Schell and his [skilled] staff. My car is running exactly as expected and I don't have to purchase a new car while in nursing school-- and for that I am grateful beyond measure. My husband and I agree, we have found our mechanic! Lastly, don't be naive like I was, dealerships are in the business of car sales. Get yourself a mechanic who displays integrity from your very first interaction. read more

I had my fuel pump replaced in my Dodge pickup in May of 2022 as the original pump was starting to make noise. It took a day to drop the fuel tank and replace the fuel pump.When I got the truck back the next day, I still heard a faint noise from the pump and the service manager said it was a new Napa Gold pump and sometimes they make a little noise when first installed. Well I drove the truck home and everything was fine but I noticed a little loss of power about three months later and did not pay any attention to the issue. So in July of 2023 I had to go to El Paso for work and drove the truck. By the time I reached Las Vegas the fuel pimp was making loud sounds, I filled the tank up with fuel and the noise wnet away. Continued on my journey to El Paso the next day and when I was about 5 mile from Las Cruces New Mexico the fuel pump was made a loud bang and the engine died. Had my truck towed to Las Cruces where the the truck was repaired. I asked to keep the pump as it had a three year warranty from Napa. But the tech said they never replaced pump as he removed the original factory pump from the fuel tank. All the tech could tell is someone replaced the fuel filter on the end of the pump and the rubber hose , other than that it was the original pump. At this point I am totally frustrated and just paid to have the fuel pump replaced which was supposedly done by Christensen Automotive in Reno. I will never use Christensen Automotive again!! read more

I have a diesel that isn't stick by any means, I New I had an electrical issue and needed some electronic components tested. I'm not a mechanic but have done all the work on my truck and I'm pretty savvy with it. But I call tell them the symptoms and the upgrades that have been done to the truck. They say they can handle it. I go down there they say give a few hours, two days later I call them. They can't figure it out. I explain what I think it is and why. And ask if they tested these certain parts and why I think they would cause my problems. The mechanic was a complete a**hole and told me to come get the truck. So I did, bought a very expensive tool, tested my part and hey guess what it was the problem. I will be calling the BBB and filling a more detailed complaint. Theses guys are incompetent and rude. If you want to be cocky a**holes at least be good enough to be cocky, don't be a cocky a**hole that can't even do your job. read more

Took my wife's BMW in for an oil change and fuel filters. Was quoted $234.xx. went to pick it up, and received a bill for $412.xx. asked the guy why my bill was almost $180 more, he said the fuel filters were more than expected, it took 7qts of oil instead of 5, the oil filter was more, and we added 5 gallons of DEF. I informed them I didn't ask them to fill the DEF, I can easily do that. All in all, seems like a classic bait and switch. I should have received a phone call if costs were going to grossly exceed a quoted rate. So much for supporting small business, would have been much better off going to the dealer. read more

I found this shop to be highly overpriced. They charged me $127 to diagnose a problem with my cruse control which was fair but they wanted $1050 on top of the $127.00 to make an easy repair. I turned down the bid and paid the $127.00 and left. I ended up going to Presto down the street and they did the job for $450.00. Also I would add that I made an appointment for 7am 2 weeks in advance so I could be 1st in line to get worked on because I had other things to do on my only day off. It took them over 3 hours before they could even look at it. When I expressed my disappointment in there lack of respect for my time they became arrogant and rude. My Dr. and my barber would never be 3 hours late for an appointment so I don't understand why a mechanic would think that it is acceptable to be 3 hours late to any appointment, very rude and inconsiderate. There shop is also a "Pig sty" which I think reflects on the quality of work they do. So to sum up They can not make an appointment in a reasonable amount of time, there bid was two times that of the guy down the street, they have an arrogant attitude, and there shop is a Pig sty. I will never go back or recommend them to even my enemy's. read more

I took my 2016 Ford Fiesta ST to Christensen Automotive on Allen Ln. in N. Las Vegas to have a Mishimoto radiator installed (I was informed by Cameron at said location that Christensen's DID install radiators). I called to see how the job was going and was advised by Cameron that both the upper and lower hoses did not fit and that he would search for two compatible hoses. I heard nothing until I called again. This time I was told the radiator wouldn't fit and that major modifications to the engine and engine compartment would be necessary. Mind you, the radiator I provided them with was a "direct fit" (this was corroborated by Mishimoto 3 times). It appears Christensen's mechanic either did not know how to install said radiator and/or he didn't want to be bothered with the task. I wouldn't recommend Christensen' Automotive to anyone who needed service more technical than an oil change....and that's being kind. read more

went to Christensen today. Had received a discount in december due to having a Costco membership. So when I was "checking out" asked.. Was told I needed to print a coupon, and they should be emailed to me automatically from Costco. Said I was not aware of needing to bring in a coupon, since nothing was mentioned in December...AND I had not ever received Christensen Automotive Coupons automatically. Two of the people there acted like I was not telling the truth. Let them know my printer has been down for awhile and usually go to the library to print papers needed. The guy acted like okay. I said I guess I will have to come back whenever the Library reopens, he said okay. So I started to walk out then said, wait do you charge storage fees while my truck sits here. He said if it is just a couple days, no. I told him I had no idea when the Library would open as it had closed March 17. He again acted like ...okay... like he did not care one bit about the dilemma did not offer to give me the discount anyway, since I had my Costco card. Finally I asked if I could see the manager. so Schell came out and stated basically the same thing, about the coupon being emailed to me. Told him I had never seen coupons for Christensen Automotive I get the Costco Wholesale emails all the time. Did not have to present a coupon in December when the discount was offered. Well, this is new and the owners won't give a discount without a coupon. (??) Then he asked if I had my Costco card. Yes, i handed it to him. He then took awhile and gave me a 7.1% discount.. stating it doesn't include any fluids or parts just the labor. "so really I gave you more than a 15% discount. As I look at the discount, it does not state anything about fluids...except "oil change" which I did NOT have the oil changed. I had the left front Axle seal replaced and transfer case flushed. All fluids for those items, not oil. Therefore I did not receive the 15% discount. The other thing in this whole issue was told in december the left front axle was leaking, told the person on the phone they had fixed it twice in the past, "oh, we have"...asked him to let me know what the cost was to fix it. Never got a call so when I was told vehicle was done, didn't realize they had only fixed the Water pump. so for 3-1/2 months I have hardly driven the truck thinking it would break down any minute. read more

I took my daughters vehicle in for a oil flush and fill and then brought it back 3 months later for a simple oil but found out the tech put the wrong size plug in and it was seized and I was told that I needed a new oil pan but even though I had the proof and documentation they charged me for their mistake... I use to take our 3 cars there and so did family and friends but they lost all our business which they couldn't care less about...my advice look to the other Automotive shop in our Capital City. read more

Super disappointed in this company! I've been taking my vehicles to them for years and I recently brought in my Jeep that I recently bought,to get a full body check up. All was great with that and paid them a couple hundred for that service. I just brought my Jeep back in to get an oil change and apparently the last time I had brought it in for that check up, whoever changed my oil, screwed up and the oil pan plug was over torqued because it was the wrong thread size so it was jammed in causing it to be stuck. So it would damage the oil pan when taken out for a normal oil change. They charged me about half the cost for something that was their mistake but still cost hundreds of dollars to fix their mechanics error. Even after we proved to them that this was their mistake, they refused to take the blame for it, so I had to pay for their mistake. Talk about greedy,untrustworthy,bad business! This business absolutely ruined my vehicle. It went from having ZERO leaks to having a number of leaks, and not small leaks - BIG leaking problems. I am a single mother who had my vehicle paid off and now it has problems where there previously were none. I took it in for a regular oil change. I did not have a single speck of a leak. I know this for a fact since I park it in the same exact spot at home and at work and there was never ANY leaks. Upon changing the oil, I was told that the coolant tank had a leak and that it needed to be replaced. I was told that it did not have to occur right away but that I needed to keep coolant with me and refill periodically due to the leak. Driving for 10 minutes made my coolant leak out of the tank 100%. There is no way I had this leak prior, not even in the least bit. So, I took it back and had it replaced. After that debacle, I then had an overwhelmingly bad oil leak. I did not notice this prior since I drove the car only 4-6 miles in total before returning it to have the coolant tank replaced. I took it back in for a 3rd time because I was afraid something had occurred in the oil change (i.e. missing plug, etc). They looked at it and stated that my selenoid had to be replaced and that was causing the leak. Due to the cascading of issues that arose from me taking my vehicle here I will never return. I can understand that parts go bad on vehicles all the time, but the fact that I had absolutely no leaks prior to their business touching my vehicle is very worrisome. I do not understand how a car can drastically go from no oil leaks to having a large amount leak after each use/drive. I was told that he (the mechanic) too had a mini cooper and his selenoid also was bad, but that I could still drive it but to watch my oil levels. I was amazed that a response of "my car does it too" and "its common in minis" was their only explanation! It was as if he was skirting around the fact that I had no leaks prior to going there. I entirely regret trusting their business and I highly suggest others to avoid going there. read more

Neither vehicle is in need of injectors and the quotes given were from $1500 to $1800. Obviously either one of the techs is trying to rob people or the tech is straight retarded. We had the check engine light come on in our 2001 Dodge Dakota, so I used a code reader to find out what was wrong. The code reader indicated that one of our oxygen sensors had failed (The truck has four). Not having the time to fix it myself, we set up an appointment with Christensen Automotive. After waiting all day for them to fix the truck, they called us, and informed us that all four sensors where bad, and that they would need to be replaced at a cost of $900. I quickly priced out the parts, and found that all four sensors would cost me less than $300 to replace. Not wanting to spend $600+ in labor, We told them not to worry about it, and my wife picked the truck up the next morning. When my wife picked up the truck the next morning, they charged her $120 just to run the diagnostics on the truck. That would have been okay, except on the invoice, they indicated that only one sensor was bad, and not the four that they had told us. This is the same result I got off of my own code reader after about 10 minutes (It didn't take me all day). I filed a complaint with the BBB, and Christensen Automotive denies that they told us that all four sensors were bad. However they also state in the same reply that all four sensors where bad (yes you read that right). I also have the printed invoice from them stating that only one sensor was bad, not all four. I have since replaced the one bad sensor on my own, and the truck is running fine. Don't trust them, they will try to take you for everything they can. read more

Wow Christensen Automotive just quoted me $689.00 to put in a new alternator. Another shop in town with lots of 5 star Yelp ratings quoted $275.00. When I told them I was going to take it to Mario's they wanted to charge a $148.00 diagnostic fee. They did spend time to look at my car to see what was wrong with the power steering so I guess that's fair, I just wasn't expecting it. They wanted $2500 to fix the steering issues, and when I told the other mechanic in town he was shocked at the quoted price. I'm sure Christensen does good work but they are very expensive. read more

I took my car in for an alignment. Did you know you're supposed to have your tires aligned twice a year? Yeah, I didn't either. They have a shuttle, staff was friendly, the job was done quickly and the price seemed fair. Can't ask for much more! read more

Worse service ever. I took my car in because it was making sounds under my car when I backed up and while I drove it. It was getting worse and louder and they say they took it for a test drive but they didn't. They couldn't hear anything which I don't believe because of how loud it is. If I could give a half star I would, their customer service is by far the worst I have ever encountered. I took my vehicle in because the heater wasn't working and we wanted them to do a diagnostic so we could get it fixed later on when we could afford it. They did the diagnostic and gave me a quote. I then called back a month later and made an appointment to have the work on the quote done. Like most folks me and my husband only have 2 cars, we go through the trouble of working out rides to and from work and getting the car dropped off and picked up. I was so excited to have a working heater since its freezing outside! I called them around 2 pm, they said my car would be ready for pick up at 4:45 pm. At 4:45pm I show up for my car, turns out they actually hadn't done any work to it. They gave a very apathetic apology and explained they were short staffed and that the work required more time than he allotted. I asked why he would have told me it would be done, and I also added that they are the ones who did the diagnostic so they should have known how long the work they quoted would have taken. When I asked if I made another appointment if they would actually do the work and they said yes. So I called my husband to discuss our options I explained that they had my car all day with an appointment and that they didn't bother to touch it even though when I called they said it would be done. I got off the phone and let them know I would be taking my car, the one man went out to get it. During all of this they are chatting about how freezing cold it is outside and how the 23 degree weather is god awful. To the other man standing there named Lance (should have gotten the other guys name too 'cause he was the deal breaker) I said, "I went through all the hassle to work out our work schedules and rides and all this stuff and they didn't even touch it." He replied, "You should have let us given you a ride." I said "Had someone had offered that I would have taken it but after the facts pointless .And I wouldn't have spent 2 hours hanging out in town for my car when it wasn't going to ever be ready because you never started it." The other man came back in with my car running out front and said there you go. I went out to let my ride know I was driving my no heater car home cause they hadn't bothered to touch it. My kind friend came in to chat with them and I waited a minute before going back in myself . When I walked in my friend told me they didn't realize that the belt was in a block and that it would take longer. I said "Well thats funny becuase you guys did the diagnostic and quote so you should have." And then (this is were they lost my business for life) the other man raised his voice with me and said "I have apologized I don't know what else you want me to do." I very politely said "I don't know why your raising your voice with me, I am your customer, I am taking my car and leaving and I don't know if I am bringing my car back here", and I turned to the other man and said "Your talking about how cold it is, I am driving my car back home 35 min in 23 degrees with no heater." I would never ever ever recommend Christensen Automotive to anyone, not even my worst enemy because with this type of horrible customer service they really shouldn't be in business. A little bit of empathy goes a long way and they couldn't even give me that. read more
