I found Chris through Yelp and selected him by the simple fact that he is one of the few contracters out here that had actually posted pictures of doing the french drains. My choice proved very quickly to be the correct one. During our first phonecall he recommended find a floor refinishing firm by myself to avoid his percentage which he puts on top of items which he normally don't deal with. He was very honest and upfront with how he works and why. In the end we chose to have him deal with the floor refinishing guys. It's less of an hassel and he takes care of any and all issues that might arrise. On the subsequent meet up at our new home, he walked me through all the items that needed to be done and how he suggested doing it as well as indicating things we might consider fixing. Once we were in contract he was very cool with the fact that we couldn't afford going over budget and only brought up items if he thought it was worth considering. They worked very quickly and efficiently and did the work within the shorter time of 3-5 weeks. It also came out to be slightly cheaper even though we did make some extra changes which were not in contract. All in all, you can't go wrong with this guy. Chris recently renovated our back patio including major electrical, structural, and concrete upgrades. His attention to detail throughout the 3-month process ensured a safe and smooth project. Prior to breaking ground, he bird-dogged the details to finalize permits and structural designs during COVID restrictions. Chris was on site everyday to oversee sub-contractor projects. All his sub-contractors were friendly and responsible, working smoothly as a team; always a good sign. He also had a good relationship with the city inspector to ensure everything was completed to code. We now have an upgraded electrical sub-panel, channel drain, reinforced garage foundation, security, and a gorgeous back patio with pergola, planter, and stamped, tinted concrete patio. The ironwood and frosted glass privacy fence has super cool, dimmable LED lights. Construction materials and tools were tidied up on a daily basis and the job site attracted positive comments from neighbors. He is easy to work with and wants the job done right. I have used Chris several times on construction projects at my restaurants. He is extremely talented and versatile on many different areas on construction. He has helped me on plumbing, electrical and carpentry work. This guy is *extremely* expensive. For example, he quoted 30k for a tiny bathroom remodeling while many others gave a quote for 5k-8k. Don't fall into the trap of "you get what you pay for". Do a lot of research and get the cheap and best. read more

I called Chris after seeing him in Yelp. He came out quickly without charging me any consult fee as mentioned in a previous less than glowing review. He carefully listened to my description of my job which is to demo a 70s balcony due to dry rot/termites and replace siding along the back of my house which was recommended by termite company. While the termite company quoted me construction work on the house, I wanted to consult a contractor. He provided a quote in a timely manner which matched the ballpark figure I asked him for initially. We are closing up a sliding glass door and replacing with a window approximately the same width. I asked him to provide a window allowance, as I might want a different window. When I emailed him for a picture of the window he specified, he sent me a direct link to the product which included pricing. I was on the fence as to demolishing the deck or keeping, and he advised me a ballpark mentioning drawings, permits, etc. I'm very happy that he didn't advise against permits as many do (wink, wink). I'm still in the process of interviewing contractors because that's what I do on a big job, but he is on my short list. So, I have to say impressive first meeting. read more

Chris was the only one who quoted me three hundred minimum fee just to come out and advise me on what could be done. No report, just verbal advice. And no, it's not adjustable against any future work. He must be really good, and in demand, to charge that much money without any tangible deliverable. We hired Chris for our master bath remodel and he was awesome! I am all about hiring local and Chris grew up in San Carlos. From the first time I met him he was on-time, even early for every meeting. What contractor does that? He is very personal, professional and well connected in the business. He had great recommendations for granite, marble, fixtures, cabinets, etc. He worked with our budget and provided timely updates as to where we were with the project/budget. The project came in at budget and within the timeline discussed. My biggest concern was having someone in my house for several weeks, but Chris almost became part of the family. I needed 4 windows (not retro-fit) installed in my house since I currently had aluminum sliders that were letting moisture and a draft in. Since there are so many construction companies these days struggling to find work, I had a wide selection to choose from. I received 5 different bids for this project and Chris clearly had the most knowledge and offered a very competitive price. All the other candidates for the job were looking to go the cheap route and supply retrofit windows, but Chris was aware there could and probably will be problems down the road with the windows not sealing correctly. Over the years this had gotten progressively worse with big pools of water forming on the floor and running out the garage door. He explained everything to us along the way and offered suggestions and guidance on how to make our master bath and bedroom remodel be successful. There were only a couple of change orders needed and Chris remained very mindful of our budget. He or his crews showed up on time in the morning and put in a full days work. They cleaned up after themselves and kept disruptions in the house to a minimum. Chris recently completed a rather large dry rot repair job on our house. He also replaced a 6 ft by 5 ft window in our dining room that was leaking. He did a beautiful job on everything. But, what I was most impressed with was the framing on the inside of the house for the window. I didn't realize what an awful job the installers had done until he redid it. I love the work.
