I would recommend Dr. Castellano and his staff to anyone. My wife Myla and I have been going to him for years. We found him when we moved from ST Pete to Riverview. We found his office near our home and they have weekend appointments. This past week I went in for a crown and a filling. I mentioned some other problem I had with a old filling he was able to take care it right then and there. He is also a perfectionist in his craft. Dr. Castellano, D.M.D., P.A. was a very disappointing experience. I went in for a routine cleaning and a quote on bridge work, nothing more. Instead, I felt pressured and uncomfortable, as if the focus was on billing and insurance rather than patient care. I arrived on a Friday at 5:30 PM and spent nearly two hours just for an exam, with excessive waiting. I ultimately left and told him I would return later for the cleaning. He scheduled me for the following Saturday at 10:00 AM. Before even starting the cleaning, he argued with me after I explained how uncomfortable I felt during my previous visit. Once the cleaning began, it felt rushed and impersonal. The quality was mediocre at best, and the emphasis quickly shifted to pushing quotes and scheduling additional procedures. Overall, there was a serious lack of customer service and professionalism. I left feeling pressured rather than cared for. I would not recommend this office, especially if you're simply looking for routine dental care. read more

I have had the worst pain for two solid weeks. After losing sleep for the last night, my wife searched "emergency dentist". Because it was Saturday, we were worried about our luck. Wow, what an amazing experience! I went in with extreme tooth pain on a Saturday morning with no appointment. The very nice girls at the front desk were able to fit me in. I can honestly say that this was such a breath of fresh air to walk in a business where everyone is just so happy. The Doctor gave me other alternatives but I chose to just have the tooth removed. This was a surgical removal due to the condition of the tooth which was explained to me at the beginning that this might be a possibility. Since the owner has harassed me on several occasions, I'll need to update my review to more accurately reflect my visit. Aggressive, rude, and unreliable treatment plans. I originally rated this dentist as 5 stars, after he asked for a review more than once. I imagine most reviews on Google were left for the same reason. Recently I took my child in to be seen, which I don't recommend any parent do. The dentist wasn't in the office for our scheduled appt, which wasn't a big deal as my son was there for a new patient exam and X-rays. The assistant began taking X-rays, and did not cover my son with the vest at any point. About 45 after his appointment started, the dentist decided to show up and give my son his exam. He was not personable and my son showed obvious signs of uneasiness. My son politely asked questions, which the dentist essentially blew off. I advised the dentist of an area of concern in my sons mouth, with directions, and the dentist replied in a rushed manner "WHERE IS IT??" Anyway, after he located the more than obvious spot, another X-ray had to be taken for my son. FYI, you'll need to hold the X-ray equipment in place yourself, because it's old and not in proper working order. Again, my son was left uncovered for his now second X-ray of the same spot (5th total). Apparently this X-ray was still not sufficient, so he was then given a pano X-ray of his entire mouth. Seriously? During this process, the dental assistant was literally rushing the dentist to his other patient. "I can take care of this, please go see patient ______". So In the middle of examining my son, he just left. Were we not being seen? Who just leaves in the middle of an appointment? Maybe you should show up to your appointments, and you won't need to rudely walk away, abandoning patients who have already been in your office for an hour. BTW, I'd like to add that the assistant did not show this same courtesy for my son when the dentist decided to sit in the other patients room for an extra 10 minutes chatting about his personal life, while my son and I sat waiting AGAIN. NO urgency was shown whatsoever after being there for an hour, with literally only taking X-rays on a child. (As if everything prior to this wasn't a red flag, this is where I'd definitely NEVER recommend this dentist to anyone:) Since we were left alone so long, as the dentist chatted about his personal life in another room, I looked over the proposed treatment plan for my NINE year old. On his last checkup, approximately one year ago, he was cavity free. PERFECT CHECK UP. Now, a year later this new "dentist" is recommending over $2k of dental work. Such as: a root canal, a crown, and multiple fillings. WHAT?? After looking at the X-rays and treatment plan , It was at this point I'd had enough and decided to leave. As I stood at the front office to be checked out, the dentist finally appeared and asked if I was leaving. I replied with yes. He walked away, then came back again. He then asked me if I had reasons for leaving. I advised that I had many reasons for leaving and I left it at that. He acted like a child and couldn't handle the fact that we were leaving due to his lack of professionalism, so he then came around the counter so he would be in my line of vision, aggressively asking me again if I had reasons to leave and what they were. I politely ignored his aggressive tactics. He then proceeded to talk about me as if I wasn't present, in an agitated manner, advising the front office staff not to forward my X-rays and treatment plan as he was not charging "her" for the visit. 1. This is not a child friendly office. 2. The dentist showed no regard for my son as a patient, who was a bit nervous at that. 3. My boyfriend had work here previously, and had to drive back to the office immediately upon returning home because his mouth was pouring blood. As a former dental assistant, I know this is not normal. 4. The only saving grace this office has is one kind front office staff member. 5. I am rating this office so others do not make the same mistake. Since the dentist was so adamant about receiving reviews in the first place. 6. It is my opinion that my child's mouth would have been destroyed based on the treatment plan that I have copies of. The X-rays and treatment plan do not coincide and I would have been foolish to let this "professional" touch my child beyond the initial visit. We terminated our relationship with this "doctor" before leaving, yet he is still contacting us with petty letters advising us that he has terminated our relationship. We did that for you. Stop harassing us. If you leave a truthful review, you'll likely be harassed by the dentist. As seen in my photo. My family and I have been going to Dr. Castellano for years. Recently, I had a tooth break, and Dr. Castellano was able to fit me in immediately. I'm a big baby when it comes to the dentist, but Dr. Castellano has never hurt me and is always careful to make sure I'm numb enough. He's very funny and entertaining while he is doing the dental work, chatting with his assistant, which keeps me calm. When this tooth broke, we discussed what would need to be done, and we decided to do a crown. He told me that if I experience pain later on, we may have to do a root canal. I trust him, and I don't believe he is the kind of person who would ever upsell services. I'm always confident that he is recommending the best course of action for me. I am so happy that I went to Dr. Castellano for my dental needs. His staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. You will feel right at home the moment you walk through the door. The atmosphere is filled with cool decor and family photos, such a cozy feeling... and with great music coming from the speakers that will help set you at ease. So not only does he have great musical taste, but the hands of angel! I went in for a root canal a few weeks ago and it was one of the easiest things I had to go through in regards to having dental work done. I felt barely any discomfort or pain. People were surprised to even see me back at work an hour later; even after the procaine wore off, it was not a big deal. I was a new patient and was expecting a pleasant/bedside manner type of meeting. Unfortunately, that DID NOT happen. There was no greeting, no smile, NOTHING!! While I was in the chair and he was "supposedly" cleaning my teeth, he had no issues on speaking with his assistant and her life, etc.! The staff was friendly and informed me that the doctor was having a bad day, get over it!! Doesn't mean you have to punish a NEW patient by your negative attitude!! His staff estimates charges, then when the bill comes through, it is significantly higher than the quote! Furthermore, Dr. Castellano has a horrible bedside manner. My experience with Dr. Castellano was fantastic. I am a senior adult and this was the first time I was facing a serious procedure. The dreaded wisdom teeth extraction. I could not have asked for a better dentist, dental assistant and dental practice. Before the procedure Dr. Castellano was very informative, comforting and reassuring. He understood my anxiety and patiently addressed all my concerns. He is a true professional. During the procedure, he often asked how I was doing and if I was comfortable. This really helped me remain calm and made for an overall pleasant experience. My experience with Dr Castellano has been totally positive. He has done 4 implants (the difficult UPPER ones) and multiple crowns and root canals for me, all with complete success. I would give him 0 stars if possible. The staff is great but I wouldn't recommend Dr. Castellano to anyone. My first visit he said I had 4 small cavities. The next visit he said one tooth needed a crown, and then the next visit, I needed a root canal for another tooth. I should have realized then that there was a problem with that. After the root canal, I was in horrible pain (10/10) for 6 weeks. He said that was totally normal and didn't listen to our concerns. During a follow-up where I was close to tears from the pain, he berated me for seeing a root canal specialist (we didn't know what else to do) and having my fiance talk to him when I was in so much pain I couldn't speak on the phone. The tooth he worked on ended up being cracked, and I had to have an extraction and bone graft, which is concerning because there was no pain at all before he touched it. All in all, $140 worth of cavity fillings turned into several months of pain, over $5,000 in dental work, and the worst experience of my entire life. read more
