I like Chow's bistro, also in Collegeville, and glad that they opened a breakfast/lunch place here as well. It is right beside Fedex store and Wawa, so plenty of parking. We went for lunch on Saturday and it was not very crowded. The servers are friendly, take a little longer than expected for the food to get ready, but not too bad. We ordered Teriyaki Chicken bowl, Chunky Monkey Burger and Shrimp Quesadilla. Each one of them very delicious and with big portions. Nice place for causal breakfast and lunches.

I've been here 3 or 4 times now since they opened, trying different things. The word got out fast, as it's always packed. No shortage of staff here. Tried the gingerbread pancakes today. Pretty good, though I'm not a big pancake fan. Asked for several things to be adjusted, and everything came out just as I ordered it. Always friendly staff, so this will be a new regular place for me. I LOVE breakfast!

Used to come here every week when the place was Corner Cafe 29, so when it re-opened as Chows Corner Cafe, stopped back in for my weekly breakfast. The decor is a little nicer than its predecessor but has the same general layout. They now have a hostess stand at the front and will seat you vs. just walking in and seating yourself. Nice menu selection and the couple of meals I've had here have been good along with service. The first time I was there, it was very cold inside, but seems like they fixed that as I didn't notice it the second time. My main complaint is that they don't take Apple Pay (they did the first week and then decided to switch out their CC terminals and now don't), and it's a $15 min for credit card charges. Sometime, I just want a light breakfast and wouldn't be able to get to $15. For these two reasons, I won't be coming here every week like I used to.

And the prime rib? A simple turkey club (real roasted turkey - not lunch meat). In addition, the best Cosmo in Collegeville, served with a sidecar. Here is a secret- Order it with citrus vodka. The service is top notch. One time out of a dozen, the kitchen was backed up with a takeout order. All was fine because the communication was amazing. Super high recommendation for this place. They will not disappoint.

My friends tavern is the bar . If you're looking for a true dive bar experience go to ALEX'S Tavern. You'll get that real deal casual dive atmosphere with dignity authenticity and respect . Not this absolute disaster of business. Within my first 4 mins I got screamed at by the scary bartender Lisa, who clearly hates her job. Lisa, why are you in the service industry ? 0/10 worst customer service experience of my life. I was getting screamed at by Lisa the bartender for asking if I could smoke outside , while she openly welcomed and served a highly intoxicated customer who drunk drove to her bar. Kinda scary that this is the university's neighborhood bartender . All you had to do was say NO Lisa. Good thing I have common sense and could hear your attitude the moment you stopped pretending to be kind . This was such an outrageous outburst I have zero doubt this was the first time. All the guys seem entertained by her and she certainly put on a nice show to the guest she served who was already highly intoxicated. Lisa if you hate women, yourself or your job, just say that. As a bartender myself I saw you commit enough violations within the 5 minutes of you screeeeching at me .... to lose your opportunity to ever serve alcohol. I'm glad you did not steal my $60 tip . The man across the street needed that money much more than you. You see how You're evil spirit and malicious intent was immediately converted into a positive , pay-it-forward type situation. It's never too late to evolve. Say no to alcohol , kids. It's the worst socially normalized drug out there.

The menu has a variety of selections, everyone will see something that appeals to them. There were a couple of dishes that caught my attention. I settled on one of their Dinner Specials...Pan Seared Sea Bass cherry tomatoes coconut sauce, spanish yellow rice, French green bean. I asked if I could substitute asparagus for the green beans, our server said that was fine. I have been eating Sea Bass many years prepared many different ways at many different restaurants. Striped Sea Bass, Chilean Sea Bass you name it I've probably had it. What I was served at Chow Bistro was not Sea Bass and was not pan seared. The (fish?) I was served had no sear on it, the consistency was that of something that had been steamed. Sea Bass is flaky, not oily and it's as thick as a prime cut steak at a fine Steakhouse. The fish? I was served was approximately 1/4-1/2 inch thick of steamed mush. It was inedible to me. Towards the end of our meal our server came to check on us, she noticed I hadn't eaten anything. She asked if I wanted a container for it and I told her that she could take it away. She asked if everything was OK. I explained to her that what I was served was NOT Sea Bass. She apologized and took the dish away. When she came back to the table she said she spoke to the kitchen. She said that they told her that what I was served was Branzino. Branzino is not a fish I order for myself, though I have tasted it. I've been to dinner with family and friends who do eat Branzino regularly. I didn't challenge what the kitchen told her. What would be the point? Our server took my dish off the bill, she asked if she could bring me something else from the menu. She did her best to try and make things right. She was very good. I left her my customary 20%+ tip. I know what Branzino looks like. I would be extremely surprised if what I was served was Branzino. Perhaps it was a type of Branzino I've never seen, locally sourced from Perkiomen Creek? With so many options for dinner, Chow Bistro will not be one of those options! Not Recommended!
