Ordered "add lobster meat" for $22 to a salad I ordered using Delivery dudes of Jupiter. when it arrived it was 2.95 ounces of Lobster knuckle, that's $120 a pound for lobster knuckles. I called and asked to speak to a manager or the owner and the irritable person that answered said she would not take a message and I would need to call back but she didn't know when either would be there. I recently dined at Chowder Heads for the first time. The food wasn't all bad but it wasn't good enough for me to return. I started with a bowl of the Manhattan Clam Chowder which, although being described as "a little spicy" on the menu, was extremely bland. I added pepper and some Tabasco sauce to it but the flavor was still not good. For my entrée, I had one of their signature dishes -- Haddock McLaughlin -- which was haddock topped with a crab meat imperial sauce and Ritz cracker topping. For my sides, I had Boston Baked Beans and Maryland Boardwalk fries. The sides were both good. The beans did not look very appetizing but I was pleasantly surprised with their flavor. The piece of haddock was a nice size and it was topped with a nice amount of the crab sauce. The haddock, however, was also very bland. I took half of it home. When I reheated it at home, I added salt, pepper and a little Old Bay Seasoning. The additions made the haddock significantly better. The ambience of the restaurant was so-so. I found out about this place through Local Dines. I was so excited to see a lobster roll on the menu that I didn't care about the drive to get there. That's where the excitement ends and the nightmare begins. We walked in and spoke with a very unpleasant man (who we found out later was one of the owners). The place was packed so we chose an open high top table in the bar area. We were greeted right away by our server and she delivered our waters right away. When we were ready to order she went through the LONG list of items that they had already run out of, mind you, it was only 7pm!! One of the items was the lobster roll that I was dying to have. They only had the "hot lobster roll" which is warm and drenched in butter. I asked the server if it was good and she said she didn't know since that was only her second day on the job. We asked if a couple of clam strips could be the side item for my friend's lobster roll and she said she would ask. We also ordered 2 cups of the lobster bisque. The soup came shortly after we placed our order and it was just ok, nothing to write home about. After the soup my water glass was empty and another server saw it and refilled it for me. Our server passed by about 20 times and never made eye contact. After about 20 minutes we were wondering where our food was. We heard the owner tell another couple that the kitchen is backed up and food orders are taking about an HOUR!! Would have been nice if someone informed us of that. Now I know why our server was avoiding our table. We asked the bartender how long the place had been open and she said a couple months and this was her first day! The young guy bussing tables told us that there was an article written in the paper about them and business really picked up, but they didn't have enough servers and the kitchen was too small. Don't you think you should be prepared with staff if you have an article written about you? I am not in the restaurant business but know enough that usually that means people will be coming in...so be prepared! After 30 minutes of waiting for our food, a server comes and gives us our check....I said, "we haven't even gotten our food yet". She smiled and took the bill away. After 45 minutes I was getting angry. The owner came over and said our food should be there in a few minutes. The food FINALLY came and I looked down at my "hot lobster roll" and laughed. $18 for a small lobster roll and one side of fries. I ate a fry only to find it half cooked. I pulled the server over and told her the fries weren't done and she went to the kitchen, came back and said, "he said they are all coming out like that and he doesn't know why". My friend asked about the clam strips (since she never came back with an answer) and she said that the owner said no. We pulled the owner over to our table and my friend said the least he could have done was agree to the clam strips because of the wait and he said he would go in the kitchen to have some made. We ate our food....waited for the bill....paid the bill...waited some more and the owner walked by so we stopped him again and asked about the clam strips and he had FORGOTTEN. That was the last straw....we will NEVER go back again. read more

Went to Chowderhead 1/10 in West Palm for a 2 pound lobster dinner. I had recieved email from Chowderhead indicating a great deal. At the resturant, they said they were not aware of offer and had to check if they could accept. After a 15 minute wait and their conversation with the owner they refused to honor the lobster deal. If that's the way they run a resturant that's not a resturant that you should go to. If they treat their customers like CRAP they do not deserve to be in business. We have talked about hitting CH for some time, today was the day. We pulled in for a late lunch, the restaurant had a nice crowd but seating was readily available. We grabbed a table outside. It was actually nice, a cool shady spot, view of the Bistro seating area and their small bubbling fountain. The wait staff was attentive and took our drink order quickly and returned in a timely fashion with the drinks. After perusing the fare offered, my wonderful date went lobster bisque and cod, I went lobster roll, cold, and clam chowder. The soups were brought first and were just ok, not what we expected. Its a chowder place, no?? My NE chowder was thin, some clam was found in there, and a few potatoes. I was kinda disappointed. The lobster bisque was pretty much the same, but lacking lobster. Luck of the ladle?? The lobster roll and cod roll came out quickly. My first impression was the lobster roll was stacked nicely, but wow, $21 for maybe 6 inches? A little pricey, but it was very good, but 4 bites and gone...I could have nibbled I guess....streeeeetttcccchhhhh it out. The cod was also good but it too was short on delivery. Regrettably there were no redeeming qualities that we can report in reference to our visit to this establishment. Not only did the exorbitant prices make our jaws drop, but the portions were quite small. To add salt to our wounds, the women who was our server was surly and rude. The BEST seafood in Florida! I had the Rhode Island Clam Chowder, 1/2 lb. of Clams With Drawn Butter (Real ones too, not those pisser clams you find everywhere else in FL) and crab meat stuffed 2 lb. Lobster...all of it was so delicious and authentic, even the french fries were awesome, I ate every single one! I did bring most of the crabmeat stuffing home (along with 2 quarts of RhodeIsland and New England Clam Chowder), but I ate everything else while I was there and had 2 glasses of wine. The staff was very friendly and attentive. It's a 45-minute drive from where I live but I will definitely be going back! read more

I'm a frequent customer and have never had a complaint here, but tonight's service was terrible. Maybe our waitress was having an off night, but she was terribly slow & forgetful. She forgot two of our soups until we asked about them while one of us got our soup, got one of our sides wrong with our dinner and then refilled a tea with water without even noticing. My boyfriend brought this home today for lunch and boy did he get some points in the good books. We always eat at the Lobster Roll AKA Lunch in Riverhead, NY when we visit there and this place blows it out of the water! The lobster roll that he brought home was perfect! You can order it "The New England Way' which has butter and mayonnaise on it, but he got us the other one, which was just lobster on a white hot dog bun. PERFECT! I'm not sure what they did to season it, but it was very tasty. Lobster overflowing the soft, warm, bread.....yuuuuummmm! Just SO GOOD! I've been lax about my Yelping lately, so my 2014 Yelp resolution is to review as I go...lofty goals here. In keeping with my just decided resolution, I dined here for lunch today. We walked in, I'd say visibly new to the establishment, looking around as to what to do next. There was an owner behind the counter, doing credit card inventory, and a server looking at us. Ummm...so guys, how's this work? The counter isn't offering to ring us, and the server doesn't want to speak up either. Pet peeve of mine. Greet your guests, Restaurant 101. I'm surprised this happened, because the owner seems to be very interactive with yelp reviews. After getting a seat on our own, our experience improved. We had Ken. He was very nice, did his job, nothing over the top. We had the New England chowder, Lobster Roll warm, Crab Salad Roll and Boston Cream pie. Chowder: the bad reviews are stupid. This is very good, above average chowder. Am I a connoisseur? By no means, but I've had dozens in my day, and this was great. Not a ton of fish and potato-less base as some are. I don't know what the Hell some of these "reviewers" ate. Lobster Roll: amazingly, this was my 1st ever. But I've read some reviews in the past about bad ones that lack meat, flavor, etc. This was a good amount of meat, VERY flavorful, and VERY tender. I am not a lobster fanatic; I usually think it's overpriced, chewy crab. But this was excellent. Maybe a little overpriced for $18... Crab Salad Roll: very good. Nothing to write home about, but no complaints. Fries accompanying are better than I expected. Boston Cream pie: my daughter had never had this, I persuaded her to share this rather than carrot cake. Just chowdah & crackers & ate outside @ a table. The chowder was lukewarm! I could taste a definite cornstarch or flour flavor. The clams were OK but the potatoes were either canned or frozen. Clam Chowder is basically chopped clams, milk, fried onions w/ a couple of strips of bacon & potatoes & butter. Real simple! Must be served HOT! Since I ordered 'out' I did not pick up any rudeness, the servers (which there were an abundance of..) were very friendly. Maine (NE?) seafood is simple, especially lobster rolls which are lobster meat & just enough Hellmans mayo to hold the meat together in a top loaded hot dog roll. Simple & easy.... read more

The freshest, best prepared seafood/shellfish that I have EVER had the delight to eat. Not only was it prepared well, but the seasoning was exquisite--a la Goldilocks...not too spicy, not too bland, but just PERFECT! I grew up in The Northeast Bronx, right next to City Island--a nautical enclave that's like a small New England village but packed with over a dozen seafood restaurants--and have had the opportunity to indulge my passion for well-prepared seafood on thousands of occasions. I also recall a childhood where going to Howard Johnson on a Friday for all-you-can eat field clams was at least a monthly ritual. I drove to Baltimore at least a half-dozen times a year for a crab orgy. Therefore, I consider myself an epicure when it comes to fish meals and restaurants. That said, our (mine & the Beautiful Wife's) meal at Chowder Heads not only exceeded my expectations, but had me closing my eyes in delight at EVERY mouthful of every fabulous dish on the table! The lobster (lobstah--this place is a bit of Boston in South Florida, thank G-d!) bisque was beyond delightful--perfection in a bowl, right down to the exactly tasteful amount of Sherry in the soup and the tiny bits of the lobstah meat in the delicious liquor of the bisque. I could even have asked for 1/4 pound of lobstah meat to be added to the bowl for a very reasonable upcharge! The BW's Lobstah Roll--offered cold with mayo, or hot with buttah--was a taste-delight & stuffed far beyond the roll's capacity, and just as full of flavor. The Fried Ipswich Clams appetizer was overwhelming in it's absolute perfection--orgasmically tasty, and fried to an absolutely exquisite gourmand's delight. The portion size made a mockery of the term "appetizer." It could, with no exaggeration, serve as a satisfyingly filling meal for two, but I could NOT stop myself from inhaling the entire plate--the BW was quite fortunate to be able to swipe just ONE from my plate without losing her fork in the struggle! I'm tasting them again in my mind as I write this! When the grilled Sea Scallop platter that was my meal arrived on the table I was in a more-sharing mood (after devouring the incredible Ipswich bivalve delight) and offered the BW the very first one. That's LOVE! The scallops are dry-type, so they cook to perfection at the hands of the wonderful chef--dare I say they were magically delicious without invoking Lucky Charms--in a way that the crappy water-soaked variety could NEVER attain. With every bite--start to finish--my smile grew wider, my mouth more thrilled, my thoughts more pleased to have found Chowder Heads. This is a place at which I will quickly and seamlessly become one of the regulars! The staff are friendly, accommodating, attentive, and easy to attract if you need them--although they are NOT ever folks that you have to look for. They anticipate every need--refills on your drink, a new fork, some more Maple vinaigrette (awesome house salad dressing)? Desireé was an amazing server, and nearly clairvoyant in her attentiveness. Polite, charming, professional--there are insufficient adjectives with which to praise how wonderful she is! Ken was fabulous as manager, following up near meal's end to make sure that all was well, and to reinforce the welcoming attitude that radiated from Desireé. Great food, great people, great New England ambience and hospitality--I'd give them SIX stars if there was a way!
