Ordered "add lobster meat" for $22 to a salad I ordered using Delivery dudes of Jupiter. when it arrived it was 2.95 ounces of Lobster knuckle, that's $120 a pound for lobster knuckles. I called and asked to speak to a manager or the owner and the irritable person that answered said she would not take a message and I would need to call back but she didn't know when either would be there. This was one of my enjoyable places, but no more. Never again and anyone that ask I tell them the same. read more

Got the crab roll which was the texture of tunafish , there wasn't lump or taste of crab meat to be found in the oasis of mayo and stringy crab like substances. Place seemed nice, mixed tables outside with adjoining restaurant wasn't proper seating. Had to take another table to seat ourselves. Lobster chowder has no lobster just ground minced pieces. The main concern was the server had a open wound on her hand. Serving food with any sore on your hand should be bandaged up. I recently dined at Chowder Heads for the first time. The food wasn't all bad but it wasn't good enough for me to return. I started with a bowl of the Manhattan Clam Chowder which, although being described as "a little spicy" on the menu, was extremely bland. I added pepper and some Tabasco sauce to it but the flavor was still not good. For my entrée, I had one of their signature dishes -- Haddock McLaughlin -- which was haddock topped with a crab meat imperial sauce and Ritz cracker topping. For my sides, I had Boston Baked Beans and Maryland Boardwalk fries. The sides were both good. The beans did not look very appetizing but I was pleasantly surprised with their flavor. The piece of haddock was a nice size and it was topped with a nice amount of the crab sauce. The haddock, however, was also very bland. I took half of it home. When I reheated it at home, I added salt, pepper and a little Old Bay Seasoning. The additions made the haddock significantly better. The ambience of the restaurant was so-so. I found out about this place through Local Dines. I was so excited to see a lobster roll on the menu that I didn't care about the drive to get there. That's where the excitement ends and the nightmare begins. We walked in and spoke with a very unpleasant man (who we found out later was one of the owners). The place was packed so we chose an open high top table in the bar area. We were greeted right away by our server and she delivered our waters right away. When we were ready to order she went through the LONG list of items that they had already run out of, mind you, it was only 7pm!! One of the items was the lobster roll that I was dying to have. They only had the "hot lobster roll" which is warm and drenched in butter. I asked the server if it was good and she said she didn't know since that was only her second day on the job. We asked if a couple of clam strips could be the side item for my friend's lobster roll and she said she would ask. We also ordered 2 cups of the lobster bisque. The soup came shortly after we placed our order and it was just ok, nothing to write home about. After the soup my water glass was empty and another server saw it and refilled it for me. Our server passed by about 20 times and never made eye contact. After about 20 minutes we were wondering where our food was. We heard the owner tell another couple that the kitchen is backed up and food orders are taking about an HOUR!! Would have been nice if someone informed us of that. Now I know why our server was avoiding our table. We asked the bartender how long the place had been open and she said a couple months and this was her first day! The young guy bussing tables told us that there was an article written in the paper about them and business really picked up, but they didn't have enough servers and the kitchen was too small. Don't you think you should be prepared with staff if you have an article written about you? I am not in the restaurant business but know enough that usually that means people will be coming in...so be prepared! After 30 minutes of waiting for our food, a server comes and gives us our check....I said, "we haven't even gotten our food yet". She smiled and took the bill away. After 45 minutes I was getting angry. The owner came over and said our food should be there in a few minutes. The food FINALLY came and I looked down at my "hot lobster roll" and laughed. $18 for a small lobster roll and one side of fries. I ate a fry only to find it half cooked. I pulled the server over and told her the fries weren't done and she went to the kitchen, came back and said, "he said they are all coming out like that and he doesn't know why". My friend asked about the clam strips (since she never came back with an answer) and she said that the owner said no. We pulled the owner over to our table and my friend said the least he could have done was agree to the clam strips because of the wait and he said he would go in the kitchen to have some made. We ate our food....waited for the bill....paid the bill...waited some more and the owner walked by so we stopped him again and asked about the clam strips and he had FORGOTTEN. That was the last straw....we will NEVER go back again. read more

Went to Chowderhead 1/10 in West Palm for a 2 pound lobster dinner. I had recieved email from Chowderhead indicating a great deal. At the resturant, they said they were not aware of offer and had to check if they could accept. After a 15 minute wait and their conversation with the owner they refused to honor the lobster deal. If that's the way they run a resturant that's not a resturant that you should go to. If they treat their customers like CRAP they do not deserve to be in business. Any honorable establishment would graciously honor what they put in writting to keep a customer and then correct their publication read more

We have talked about hitting CH for some time, today was the day. We pulled in for a late lunch, the restaurant had a nice crowd but seating was readily available. We grabbed a table outside. It was actually nice, a cool shady spot, view of the Bistro seating area and their small bubbling fountain. The wait staff was attentive and took our drink order quickly and returned in a timely fashion with the drinks. After perusing the fare offered, my wonderful date went lobster bisque and cod, I went lobster roll, cold, and clam chowder. The soups were brought first and were just ok, not what we expected. Its a chowder place, no?? My NE chowder was thin, some clam was found in there, and a few potatoes. I was kinda disappointed. The lobster bisque was pretty much the same, but lacking lobster. Luck of the ladle?? The lobster roll and cod roll came out quickly. My first impression was the lobster roll was stacked nicely, but wow, $21 for maybe 6 inches? A little pricey, but it was very good, but 4 bites and gone...I could have nibbled I guess....streeeeetttcccchhhhh it out. The cod was also good but it too was short on delivery. The BEST seafood in Florida! I had the Rhode Island Clam Chowder, 1/2 lb. of Clams With Drawn Butter (Real ones too, not those pisser clams you find everywhere else in FL) and crab meat stuffed 2 lb. Lobster...all of it was so delicious and authentic, even the french fries were awesome, I ate every single one! I did bring most of the crabmeat stuffing home (along with 2 quarts of RhodeIsland and New England Clam Chowder), but I ate everything else while I was there and had 2 glasses of wine. Not only did the exorbitant prices make our jaws drop, but the portions were quite small. To add salt to our wounds, the women who was our server was surly and rude. I'm a frequent customer and have never had a complaint here, but tonight's service was terrible. Maybe our waitress was having an off night, but she was terribly slow & forgetful. She forgot two of our soups until we asked about them while one of us got our soup, got one of our sides wrong with our dinner and then refilled a tea with water without even noticing. My boyfriend brought this home today for lunch and boy did he get some points in the good books. We always eat at the Lobster Roll AKA Lunch in Riverhead, NY when we visit there and this place blows it out of the water! The lobster roll that he brought home was perfect! You can order it "The New England Way' which has butter and mayonnaise on it, but he got us the other one, which was just lobster on a white hot dog bun. PERFECT! I'm not sure what they did to season it, but it was very tasty. Lobster overflowing the soft, warm, bread.....yuuuuummmm! Just SO GOOD! Driftwood Plaza has always been out of the way, but Chowder Heads is changing that. Their lobster and seafood dishes are all great. We had lobster bisque, new england clam chowder and a lobster roll(cold!!)....and vere very pleased...the lobster meat was perfect. I've been lax about my Yelping lately, so my 2014 Yelp resolution is to review as I go...lofty goals here. In keeping with my just decided resolution, I dined here for lunch today. This won't last long, I'm sure. The bad reviews are ridiculous. Florida isn't a big yelp bunch, so I really don't trust many of the reviews. This is definitely one of them, and I can't decide if I think competition is hating on the Chowder House, or if people are really that off in judgement and ridiculously harsh. Maybe both. My daughter and I walked over today, with semi low expectations, but high hopes. First impressions aside, they did not disappoint. We walked in, I'd say visibly new to the establishment, looking around as to what to do next. There was an owner behind the counter, doing credit card inventory, and a server looking at us. Ummm...so guys, how's this work? The counter isn't offering to ring us, and the server doesn't want to speak up either. Pet peeve of mine. Greet your guests, Restaurant 101. I'm surprised this happened, because the owner seems to be very interactive with yelp reviews. After getting a seat on our own, our experience improved. We had Ken. He was very nice, did his job, nothing over the top. We had the New England chowder, Lobster Roll warm, Crab Salad Roll and Boston Cream pie. Chowder: the bad reviews are stupid. This is very good, above average chowder. Am I a connoisseur? By no means, but I've had dozens in my day, and this was great. Not a ton of fish and potato-less base as some are. I don't know what the Hell some of these "reviewers" ate. Lobster Roll: amazingly, this was my 1st ever. But I've read some reviews in the past about bad ones that lack meat, flavor, etc. This was a good amount of meat, VERY flavorful, and VERY tender. I am not a lobster fanatic; I usually think it's overpriced, chewy crab. But this was excellent. Maybe a little overpriced for $18... Crab Salad Roll: very good. Nothing to write home about, but no complaints. Fries accompanying are better than I expected. Boston Cream pie: my daughter had never had this, I persuaded her to share this rather than carrot cake. It. Was. Delicious. I'd prefer it without the chocolate sauce drizzled on the plate. Now I know. So, I absolutely recommend. We will be back, don't buy the bad reviews.
