If you like heavy breading, this is your place! My partner and I stopped for dinner last night while driving thru Jupiter. The restaurant is NOT a fine restaurant, to say the least. It is more like a quick stop for breakfast that you might find on the Florida Turnpike. We wanted cod, but not breaded and fried but were told that it was breaded. My partner ordered the captains platter, which he thought was to have been broiled or baked. The waitress KNEW that we did not want fried food but delivered a plate filled eight inches high with NOTHING but batter!! Because he does not ever complain, he just looked at it and he refused to ask that it be returned. He decided to punch out the shrimp and scallops and whatever else was in that mess. The breading was left behind, uneaten, a picture of which is attached. Again, that picture is NOTHING BUT THE BREADING from their version of a CAPTAINS PLATTER!! It is 2019! Does the owner not know that most people today do not eat like this? Even if we were ok with breading, this was totally unacceptable!! If you want a healthy dinner, avoid Chowder Heads like the plague! Again, my partner refuses to complain and therefore just paid the bill and we left. If I were alone, I would NOT have accepted this "dinner" and would have refused to pay for it. I would have paid for the soup (lousy also, but that is another story) and left. I believe that this "restaurant" owes us a refund for this disaster!!! So disgusted, still talking to myself about how horrible this experience was! I returned to Chowderheads, having been there 4 times and having had 4 excellent meals. This time I'm writing to only rave about their Boston Cream Pie/Cake. It's not like a pie the rest of the country eats. This is a custard soaked spongy cakelike wonderment that feels so good in your mouth. The dark chocolate icing on top is well, the icing on the cake.....and is excellent. This cake should be canonized, it's the best tasting Boston cream something I've ever had. P.s. the seafood here is as good as the cake, I'm serious!!!! read more

Great lobster! Its main lobster. If you get a steamed lobster it is market price and comes with one side. The lobster roll was super good. I got it to go and ate it 15 minutes later and it was still amazing. It was the new England style. Super buttery and delicious. This also comes with one side. The coleslaw was also very good, had good flavor. I don't usually finish a whole container of coleslaw but I did with this one! This was my first and hopefully not not my last lobster roll, I hope all other lobster rolls are this good. This place really set the bar high for me. Also great friendly service here. Oh my gosh, the BEST New England clam chowder I've ever tasted with big chunks of clam in a buttery and flavorful soup. I also had a Beantown salad which was amazing. The best part for me is that both the chowder and salad are gluten free. Their home-made gazpacho and two of their chowders are gluten free. Exceptional service too! read more

Was told by our trusted guide that Chowder Heads serves the best lobster roll available south of New England. While I can't vouch for that I can definitely agree that it was awesome. I must admit that it was the first time I've tried lobster roll, where the heck have I been, right? But if I lived near here I definitely would have it a helluva lot more. Anyway, the roll itself was delicious and they stuff it with chunks of lobster rather than diced lobster swimming in mayo like I've seen before. People who eat lobster roll or lobster salad regularly probably know what I'm talking about. Tried both styles pictured below. The New England style clam chowder was excellent. Food tasted more or less OK, but the whole menu seemed expensive. I've had lobster rolls in Maine that were significantly better, but given the fact it's FL it was fine. Kids meal selection was very poor. Clientele was geriatric... average age at lunch probably somewhere near 80. Made the whole place look like a scene from Cocoon. This was our favorite restaurant while staying for vacation in West Palm Beach, Florida. The lobster rolls were amazing and full of real lobster on a delicious roll. Service was excellent, Christine was our server and she offered to take a family picture and was great with our kiddos. They have a perfect kids' menu, and a DELUXE menu for grown ups. We go to chowder heads about once a month or so. We really enjoy the food and service. I highly recommend the New England clam chowder - it's absolutely delicious and has huge chunks of clam in it while not being too thick. Also the tuna roll is terrific! They use solid albacore and it's seasoned very well. Why do so many places use gross, cheap tuna? Not Chowder Heads. It's great!! I did try the lobster pie and it fell flat for me maybe because it's on the sweeter side? There are monstrous chunks of lobster in it which is amazing but the flavor is meh. Personal preference. Very cute place, especially for lunch. And the waitstaff is very attentive! read more

We hadn't been here in awhile, but was always a favorite for old Boston style sea food, especially clams with and without bellies (we actually used to go to Howard Johnson's near Lemuel Shaddock for clam strips back in the day. Our experience this time (two weeks ago on Tuesday). Wait staff -good(though they did say a Groupon was good but later said the new owner won't honor the Groupon forever value and "call Groupon" which is still an ongoing saga. Clam chowder-wife said best ever. Clam strips-wife said not that good and I tried and she was right. Cod-batter a little overdone in places, but inside fish under batter was good, though fries were not as warm (actually not hot) as fish. Side salad with fish-OK but vinaigrette dressing lumpy and inconsistent consistency. Price-much too high for lunch @16 plus each meal. read more

Great little spot for New England seafood. Atmosphere was totally Boston! The steamers and clam chowder were delicious. I had the captain's platter all fried with the addition of the full belly clams and it was delicious. Just like back home! My husband had the same just grilled and equally enjoyed his meal as did the others in our party. The only thing we weren't thrilled with was the fish. It was supposed to be haddock but was definitely cod and did not taste fresh (had an ammonia taste that cod can have when it gets a couple days old. We visited Chowder Heads for lunch. My clam strip roll was overflowing with lightly breaded strips, so abundant that I couldn't eat it all ($12). My husband had the oyster roll ($18) and said they were just right. This was an awesome find. I can't wait to try other menu items. The New England chowder and clam fritters were just like I remember from summers in Rhode Island. This was a nice and refreshing surprise. The staff was awesome and helpful. The outdoor seating was very comfortable and scenic. We will return without a doubt. I also appreciated that the lunch menu is available on the weekend. We traveled 45 minutes to experience the freshest seafood south of New England and I must say it was pretty spot on. Chowder Heads is small and casual, reminiscent of a Rhode Island eatery. My husband and I stuck out like a sore thumb (we were dressed up, ordered half the menu, and got excited for clam bellies) while the majority of folks appear to be Jupiter locals. The menu was impressive with true to New England options such as clam cakes and whole belly clam rolls. The clam cakes were large, tasty, and worth the $8 for an appetizer, although the Old Bay dipping sauce was far too salty. My husband's Captain's Catch platter was fried to golden perfection and loaded with scallops, shrimp, haddock, clams and fries. He also ordered the potato salad, which, although it has nothing to do with New England, was uniquely tasty! My Lobster Roll though, was simply divine. The chunks of lobster were complimented with a touch of Hellman's and Old Bay and stuffed inside a buttery roll and I could not get enough of it. I will order another roll on my next visit. Our server, Lauren, was friendly and attentive. We shared where I was from and talked Red Sox briefly. She had no problem taking a coupon and even gave us $15 in gift cards for our next visit! I must say that I am beyond excited for their new West Palm Beach location opening in July. Lauren tells us that it will be huge, have a larger menu (stuffed quahogs, too) and a full bar. I was craving some old fashion new england clam chowder like my grandma used to make back in Boston, sadly that's hard to find down here in Florida. You can imagine my excitement when I saw Chowderheads advertised as having award winning chowder, I thought "Gotcha." Call me a kid in a candy store. Firstly the service was impeccable. Ed and his boys really know how to treat their guests. From the hard working demeanor of the employees to the endless entertainment supplied by Larry the Lobster, I had a great experience there. Everything else pailed in comparison to the food however. The juicy, succulent seafood melted in my mouth and had that classic new england taste to it as well. It makes sense seeing as how Ed comes from Boston and knows how to cook. Calling it now, Chowderheads is by far the best spot to enjoy seafood in Florida. Xylophones, guitars, and harmonicas form a great melody in a song. Well just like that, great service, good food, and great memories form a great restaurant. read more

We just left, it's Sunday night at 6. Five tables have people in them. You would think service would be on point but Nooooo. Service was absolutely horrible. We ordered two appetizers and four entrees. Appetizers came out fairly promptly but then after that it went down hill. Our drinks were not refilled unless I waved someone down. 30 minutes after we ordered one of the waitresses said out loud that she just sold the last two lobsters. Our waiter then came to us to tell us they are out of lobster. WHAT???? So you sold the lobster we order a half hour ago. That's not right at all. It took another half hour for us to get our meal. I have been looking for a good clam chowder for a while, this is it!!! It was good. We came on a Sunday afternoon and it was busy but not crowded. The place is small but you can also sit outside. I had the warm lobster roll, it was so delicious, I am so glad that the waitress suggested it. It tasted fresh, and did I mention delicious? OK! I'll start by apologizing for no pics, but we truthfully we were just dipping in here to try the New England Clam Chowder but ended up ordering dinner after seeing some of the plates around us. I've lived in the Greater Boston area for over 20 years and have eaten at all the best places known for chowder, steamers and friend Clams. Ed, the owner stopped by our table and personally knew each of the owners of some of the best known spots North of Boston like the Clam Box, Woodman's and Billy's Chowder House in Maine which reinforced, for me at least that he got recipes from some of the best. The taste of the food backed it up. Not sure about one of the previous reviews, but the owner was nothing but cordial, and very welcoming. They just opened another spot in Palm Beach which is good news because its a bit closer for us. Keep it out and try it! read more

We really came here for the whole belly fried clams that the hubby loves and they didn't disappoint. I nibbled on one and they were cooked to perfection. At $28 for the platter we felt it was a tad bit pricey though. For my dinner I had the lobstah stew which was dynamite. They didn't skimp on the lobstah and served with a side salad which normally I wouldn't even pay attention to but this house made maple vinagrette was something else. The kind of dressing you could imagine taking a bath in. Probably one of the most memorable things of the meal, even on top of the amazing seafood. I'll be coming back for sure. read more

As a Rhode Islander I was excited to try this place. When I got to the restaurant I noticed a sign on the door no dogs, I have a small 5lb Maltese that I carry in a shoulder bag but I saw the sign so I respected that and patiently waited for a server to come outside so I could place a very large to go order. Mind you they were other customers sitting outside that had big dogs so I didn't think it was a problem when I sat at a table waiting for someone to come out to take my order. A waitress came out and she asked me if I was dining in and I said no I would like to place a to go order please she gave me the nastiest look and said I can't help you you have to go inside I said well I'm sorry I can't go in with the dog right and she goes no you can't and she walked away. Their loss because I always tip 20% and to go orders and order would've been over $300 I will never go back to the establishment read more

Ordered "add lobster meat" for $22 to a salad I ordered using Delivery dudes of Jupiter. when it arrived it was 2.95 ounces of Lobster knuckle, that's $120 a pound for lobster knuckles. I called and asked to speak to a manager or the owner and the irritable person that answered said she would not take a message and I would need to call back but she didn't know when either would be there. This was one of my enjoyable places, but no more. Never again and anyone that ask I tell them the same. read more
