Chili slaw dog, chili cheese dog
    Ryan K.

Honestly, I had really high hopes for this place. I'm slightly disappointed. I will 100% visit again because I love supporting local business and Chow Dog has been around for a while. But next time I'm in town, I'll try their breakfast. Maybe I can return with a better review then... For context: I'm on a mission to try every chili dog in the state of Georgia. I'm originally from South Georgia...the folks down there KNOW how to make a classic-style chili dog. And by classic style chili dog, think "The Varsity." Having spent my adolescence in Conyers, naturally Chow Dog was on my list. The funny thing is, this was my first visit - I was pretty excited! I'm sad to say it was an underwhelming experience overall. If you're *really* craving for a chili dog in Conyers, do yourself a favor and go to Sonic. Now to the review itself: The buns were steamed and soft like an old fashioned chili dog should be. The coleslaw was decent...nice and sweet. But aside from that, I can't say much else good about it. The hot dog could've been cooked a little more, so the flavor was lacking and the texture of an undercooked hot dog is not the best. The all-meat chili is the laziest, most tasteless, uninteresting, bland, boring, chili dog chili I've ever had. It tastes like it came straight from the can and they did nothing to it. Which is sad...because what an easy fix that is! Your chili is what makes the dog. The texture was on point when it comes classic chili dog - NO BEANS, EVER. But that flavor was not it, folks. The cheese never melted...mostly because the chili and the hot dog aren't hot enough to melt it anyways. Very sad. Presentation wise, it looked great to me. And I was so excited to bite into this dog...but the outcome? Very lackluster. 3/5 is me being generous. I'm sorry Chow Dog. I wish I could have given you a better score but that chow dog needs some work! I will be "chowing" somewhere else the next time I'm in town and in the mood for a chili dog...

This place makes a solid hotdog. Fresh chili, fresh slaw, and fresh onions. As the last review stated, this truly is a hidden gem. Plus their health and food safety score is a 100. That's very hard to find. Staff was friendly, and the appearance of the place is well maintained.

Chili is great. Dog was decent at best.

I went to scrap some metal and drove by this place so I thought with a name like Chow Dog they should have some good ass hotdogs. I went to the drive thru and got a chili dog wit mustard and onions. I must say they have some good chili. The dog itself is not really that good in my opinion. It's decent at best. I ate the whole thing tho. I would stop by this joint one more time to try a chili cheese burger if they have em.

Updating my review to 3 stars after finally hitting this place for lunch today. Prior to today I had only had breakfast biscuits here. That changed when a coworker of mine had some decent looking wings and fries at his desk. He told me you could get ten wings, fries and a drink (I think it has to be tea) on their Friday special for 5.89. You can't beat that with a stick. I went up there and tried them out. I will get to the food in a minute. One thing I have noticed is that this joint closes at about 3 o'clock. I can only assume that being in the part of town it is, the odds of it being robbed probably increase by about 10% every hour past 3 o'clock. Thus, if they were open till midnight the odds would be fast approaching 100%. I mention this in case someone reads my review and decides to check them out. I do not want anyone making a run at 3:00 or later and finding them closed. The disappointment would be too great to handle. Now, on to the food. The fries were very good and the unsweet tea I got was very good. The wings were cooked pretty crispy, which is exactly how I like them. They were also fairly large. They may do them by the pound, but I noticed it was 8 wings as opposed to the traditional 10. The wing sauce left a bit to be desired. However, being the Frank's Original Red Hot junkie that I am, I always have some Red Hot on hand, even when I am in my office. Since I got takeout, I was able to load the wings up with a ton of Red Hot and they were off the chain! I am keeping my review at 3 stars because I needed to doctor up my wings. Still well worth the price for that special. My coworkers say they have different specials on different days. Of course, I am going wheat free now so I probably cannot have any of the other specials. However, me and my trusty bottle of Frank's Original Red Hot will be enjoying these wings just about every Friday now.

Love their chili dogs! Have a tried the breakfast for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised. Biscuits were good. Chicken was a little tough. The sausage egg on toast was delicious! The drive thur makes it easy when your in a hurry!

Its sweet, not like the chili you may find on a chili dog from Krystal or sonic.

We found ourselves in Gainesville, Ga and saw they turned the old Chick-Fil-A/Sonic into a Mexican restaurant. Oh cool, we thought. We'll have to try it. Full disclosure we did order food to go, but I took that into account when for this review. When you go in, think dollar store Chipotle. We ordered two burritos, two tacos, and a bowl. The burritos were carne asada. Beans, rice, all that jazz. They were fine, but nothing to really make them stand out. Salsa was mid. Beans, mid. Rice, mid. Etc. Just now wow factor. Moving on to the tacos, the tortillas were good and fresh. Meat was plentiful and with enough lime and salsa, overall a good experience. Then we get to the bowl. I ordered birria bowl. Everything looked the part except I didn't see the sauce in the meat container when they were making the bowl. That should have been my first clue. When I got home to eat, the meat was dry and needed salt. When have you even had Mexican food that needed salt!?!?!! The meat had a lot of fatty pieces as well, which I didn't necessarily mind, but I know is a turn off for a lot of people. The bowl just didn't taste like much of anything. All told, the order was around $40. Just not worth it. There are too many other Mexican places within 10 minutes that have better food. Place was clean. Service was ok, just could have saved money at Taco Bell.

Atlanta is better off for having food trucks (and this park, specifically). Despite the cloudy, on-and-off drizzly weather, the park had a good turnout of patrons between 7-9pm on a Thursday night. Thanks to those who braved the elements for our UYE (http://www.yelp.com/events/atlanta-atlanta-food-truck-park-uye). The food truck/food stand lineup was pretty good: Sweet Auburn BBQ Corn-a-Cue One Love Jerk Grill Metro City Dogs Lemonade Stand WOW! Food Truck Ibiza Bites Chay J's New Orleans Candies Rouxd Food Truck King of Pops Yum Yum Cupcake Verizon also had a stand. I've been following the park's official calendar (http://www.atlantafoodtruckpark.com/calendar/) over the past month and noticed Thursday nights are the ideal weeknight (excluding Fridays) to go for the most trucks and the best selection. I suspect there might have been more trucks last night if it wasn't for the weather. I ended up trying a little bit of everything: Arepas (Venezuelan sliders) from WOW! Food Truck Beef brisket with Asian pear slaw taco from Sweet Auburn BBQ Goat cheese-stuffed fried green tomatoes from Ibiza Bites Creole pretzels and Creole popcorn from Chay J's I'll be posting reviews for each of those trucks in the next few days. If you come for dinner, I recommend coming on the early side as the food trucks only have a limited supply of items and do sell out. This leads some trucks to close early. I saw many menus with marked off items that had sold out for the day. Yum Yum Cupcakes shut down early because they sold out of their cupcakes for the day. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much seating the park had. I counted 16 large picnic tables in the main "dining" area, most with umbrellas. Each picnic table can seat up to about 8 people each. The picnic tables are located on a flat, paved surface. The food trucks are located in a large gravel lot. This lot has 4 communal standing tables and 2 additional picnic tables. So overall, this spot has quite a bit of seating, which is convenient. Also, plenty of trash cans and recycling bins to keep the grounds looking relatively clean. The park is family and dog-friendly. It can be a little loud because you're around all these big trucks and next to busy Howell Mill Rd. You can BYOB, so save money by bringing your own drinks. If you want water, I saw some trucks selling it for $1 per bottle. There is one restroom and it's a "Johnny on the Spot" porta-potty in the parking lot with portable sink outside so you can wash your hands. There is ample free parking behind the park. Turn onto Emery St, next to the Shell Station on Howell Mill, to find it. If you need more detailed directions, check out the park's FAQ here: http://www.atlantafoodtruckpark.com/faqs/. The parking lot is old and filled with pot holes, so drive carefully. I saw someone puncture their car's tire by running over a broken-off metal sign post on the ground (she was trying to make too tight of a turn around the dining area). Note that every Wednesday and Friday night throughout the summer, the park will be playing movies for free. Also, from time to time, there is live music. On the weekends, there's a food market with rotating vendors and an artists market coming soon. Overall, I'm very happy with the Atlanta Food Truck Park and definitely plan on returning.

So I think every 2nd and 4th (someone correct me if I'm wrong) Saturday of the month, food trucks and food stands gather outside of Sweet Auburn Curb Market by the parking lot, to serve a large crowd of hungry Atlantans. When I was there, I remember seeing the Yumbii truck (korean bbq/mexican fusion), Good Food truck (fusion of different cuisines served in waffle cones), and a barbeque truck. Food stands served a variety of foods including cake pops, flavored boiled peanuts, tamales, chinese potstickers/buns, bottled drinks, and king of pops. There's definitely potential for more businesses to partake in the event. As food truck/street food culture becomes more popular, I'm sure the number of vendors at the Saturday Urban Picnic will increase, probably to the point that it would outgrow the location of where it's at right now. I also felt as though the quality of the food could be better. The ideas are clever, but the food doesn't compare to food from LA's food truck's.
