We ordered from here last night. We got 5 rolls, 2 cheap ones and 3 specialty rolls. We order sushi all the time... all over the country. We were less than impressed when all 5 of these rolls were packed into one to-go container. This was great from a "save the earth" perspective, but didn't really speak volumes to the size of the rolls.... 3 of the 5 were pretty small. As far as taste they were okay. The smoked salmon was too smoky and took over the flavor of the whole roll. The California roll was okay, shrimp tempura roll was also okay. Volcano roll was not my favorite. Honeygo roll was very pretty, good flavor, nice crunch left in the asparagus. This place is always busy. Good location, not much like it around but I definitely would say it may be worth a drive somewhere else if you are looking for good sushi. Nice interior here, well decorated, nice vibe. Wow!! Walked in on a Wednesday night with my wife and daughter. There were tables open everywhere and they told us ten minutes. I asked why can't we sit at one of them? Not nuff people was their attempted response. I turned around and walked out and took my $100 dollars down the street. We won't be back! Horrible eating experience. The service was rude. I gave money to the server and she proceeded to count my money in front of me and the entire table. and then told me to give a bigger tip. When i gave a fine tip... she then left and came back and asked for more money. She was rude and did not leave me alone and badgered me for more money. I used to be a frequent visitor to this establishment but after the rude customer service i received, i strongly recommend choosing another place to eat. As a waitress it is unacceptable to badger customers about tips and is outrageous to ask for an ever bigger tip. I am also a server and i am shocked at the service i received. The reason why I'm giving the Forest Hill Chopstix 5 stars is because I judge a sushi place by the quality of their fresh tuna. Both this location and the Perry Hall location have excellent sushi overall, but I prefer this location because the tuna and seared pepper tuna is SOO fresh and bright pink. It's some of the best tuna I've had except for in NYC and LA. I recommend the sunrise roll which has the seared pepper tuna, I would not recommend it at the Perry Hall location however. Either location has a great pearl river roll, bay roll, and California roll, and honestly all the sushi is good here. I used to come nearly everyday so I'd know haha. And btw amazing fried rice also! A few more things I recommend: the dumplings, Singapore noodles, miso soup (they always are generous with the seaweed and tofu) Great service, one of the managers feels like a friend, very quick with dining and takeout. We've stopped here twice, once for takeout and once for a quick dinner before an evening training class. As many have noted, the atmosphere is really nice, with lots of interesting decor, and everything is super clean. The service is friendly and prompt, and the menu is long. The sushi, though, is definitely underwhelming. I wasn't a big fan of the sauces that seem to be on everything, finding them really greasy. When we ordered rolls that weren't of the sauced and Americanized variety, they were tiny and the fish was bland, so that wasn't a great alternative to the greasy ones. My boyfriend and I went to Chopstix for sushi this past weekend. We decided we would probably return. The sushi was decent. Nothing amazing, but it tasted fine. The salmon roll was bland. The spicy tuna was nice and so was the dynamite roll. Not mind-blowing, high-end sushi, but it was good enough that I'd go back and try more of their rolls. I would say the price is fair on the plain rolls, but a bit high on the specialty rolls for what they are. The service, however, was bad. No one really stopped by our table except to hastily clear our plates and give us the check. I had to flag down a waitress for a refill on my water, and she gave me a look as if I were causing her a huge inconvenience. read more

Better than the Perry Hall location. Their food is pretty average all around, but I do enjoy the decor and service a lot. One thing I can not say no to there is the volcano roll. I've tried a lot of volcano rolls, and every place does theirs wildly different, but I really enjoy Chopstix'. Fair warning, it's not at all traditional. It's cooked tuna, crabmeat and avocado deep fried, with a side of literally flaming volcano sauce that you can dip it in. Their ice green tea tasted like water, it wasn't strong at all, but the hot green tea was great. If you don't like mushrooms, make sure to ask if there are any in your dish. They have them in a lot of unexpected meals, but you can just ask for them not to be put in then. read more

Our favorite restaurant in the Belair area. We eat hear 3+ times a month. They aren't cheap, but the food is fresh and consistent. I love sushi and they have a great selection and will customize anything to your taste. Weekends after 5:30 means a wait but rarely more than 20-25mins. My wife prefers the traditional menu and always has plenty. I also like seeing a regular staff and chefs behind the bar and at the tables. Consistently is important to me. read more

Ive been here twice since it opened and I have yet to be dissapointed with their sushi menu, or the level at which it is prepared. the high points to this place are -good interior with a nicely decorated and well appointed color schemes. -solid service , however on one occassion we had 2 or 3 seperate servers not just one, so it was not easy to tell where or how they were doing their tips. - Sushi was above average in quality, rice proportions were fairly good and not over done. A good menu with many different selections of hand rolls, maki, sashimi, and cooked. - pricing is fair, but for what you get, perhaps a bit on the higher side... but then most people arent eating here everyday, so it's worth the slight splurge. I decided to try this place out for lunch today. Based on the photos and reviews, I assumed it was worth a shot. Walking in there was a scent. Not quite fish and definitely not cleaner. Now on to the Food! To start, we ordered smoked salmon and a Dynamite Roll. No complaints. The fish tasted fresh and that Dynamite Roll was superb. We would have liked to see more sashimi options but Chopstix didn't allow. We opted from the lunch menu which had a lot to choose from. I went with the Shrimp Scallop with Garlic Sauce w/ white rice, Chicken & Corn, and a Shrimp Roll. My dish was good for the most part. A lot of veggies but that's to be expected. The Chicken & Corn Soup was a new one for me. It's like an "egg drop soup" as my waiter put it. It's different... Not bad though. I DID take notice of the unnatural yellow coloring. Neither one of us cared for the Shrimp Rolls. I had to search to find two shrimp at the bottom. LOL. My husband decided on Hunan Beef w/ vegetable fried rice, Hot and Sour soup, and a Shrimp Roll. He really liked his meal. Not so much the Hot and Sour Soup. If I ever order out, I have to remember to ask for their homemade hot mustard. It's so spicy, but good. read more

Chopstix has great shrimp Pad Thai and great general Tso's chicken. So I will definitely keep going back! It's not in a prime location as its in a small plaza hidden behind trees. It's a clean environment and it's nicely decorated with a zen water fountain with a huge Buddha. There's regular table seating, booth seating and sushi bar seating. The waiters and waitresses don't all speak great English so you may think they're ignoring you when they're not so don't take offense. Overall a great find on Bel Air, will definitely keep coming back. read more

I usually get carry-out here, and they usually get it right. I've eaten lunch here several times in the past. My most recent visit was for dinner with family. I won't go back. Chicken teriyaki seems like the pizza of the Chinese food world, it should be at the very least tolerable. Mine was not. Tough, butterfly thin sliced chicken breast...whole, served with a sauce that ran off the meat like water. The vegetables were the highlight. The flavor was bland, sampled by the table, bland. The special at the mall is better. I've had good food from here in the past, sushi included, but I think customer loyalty or lack of options has made them lazy. As a side note, you parents who let your little a$$hole kids write on the wall in crayon, do that in YOUR dinning room...better yet, I'll come to house and do it myself. You suck. read more

Friday evening visit. Place was pretty crowded so we were glad to have made a reservation. Sushi- Tuna and Salmon were excellent; very fresh Sashimi- First time with Eel. Very good with a nice barbeque-y sauce First time with Optopus as well. Bland, but that could be the norm for that protein? Rolls- Honeygo and Bay were table favorites (nice lump crabmeat in Bay) Dynamite and Spicy Scallop were average (sauce served on Dynamite was a little off) Notes: A liquor license goes a long way in a sushi joint IMO. What used to be a premier local favorite has apparently descended into mediocrity. We returned this evening to discover that the something was different about the food. The dumpling appetizers were soggy, stuck together, and had the taste of stale meat. We couldn't finish even one of them and sent them back. Our waitress seemed to understand and was kind enough to remove them from the check. For dinner, the chow mein was tasteless and had the consistency and appearance of the stuff in a can I remember from summer camp in the woods. The Szechuan Shrimp dish arrived cold (it wasn't supposed to be) and the sliced carrots in it were so thick and raw I couldn't eat most of them with my fork (no, I didn't use my fingers either). Good for horses, bad for people. The service was ok: not good, but not bad either. Our waitress was pleasant but distracted. The only opportunity we had to let her know about the cold food was when we flagged her down as she raced by. To her credit, she addressed the situation immediately. I just didn't know that cold bad food tastes just the same as hot bad food. We did not try the sushi, but based on tonight's experience we won't be giving it a chance in the future. Something has happened here and there's no way to know if it's the food quality, the chef, or just plain old mediocrity. read more

The person who welcomed us was friendly enough, as was the initial waitress. We've been her several times before but this was by far our most disappointing time. We had to ask for the chow main noodles and the waiter had a bit of an attitude, then they were stale! Food was just "meh" (mediocre) this time. The menu is the same and it's still very very good, but it's not 5-star good. I went here with my family for a lunch and upon first impression from the waterfall in the lobby to even the most minute detail on the tables, I was quite impressed. It is nice to see something so wonderfully designed to come to Forest Hill. However, the food will be my reason for not returning. I ordered the shrimp and chicken with fried rice lunch and it tasted fine but I do have some complaints. The chicken was only warm at best and was in abundance. The three shrimp I received, yes, I counted, tasted fine but was disappointed with the fact they only included three. The spoonful of rice I received, like the chicken, was also warm to room temperature at best and by the time I was finishing my dish, it was already cold. It's like they prepared a hot meal on a cold plate and then waited to bring it out for 15 minutes while the other dishes were being cooking/prepared. And it wasn't just my own meal that was cold; my father's General Tso's chicken was the same way. My mother had the avocado roll and said while being tasty, it was pretty small. The biggest problem of the day was the server's knowledge of what he was serving. My mother ordered vegetable eggrolls only to bite into an eggroll full of vegetables and shrimp. This wouldn't be a problem if she wasn't HIGHLY allergic to shellfish and one bite usually sends her to the hospital. We asked the server if he knew the eggrolls had shrimp in them. He replied that he knew, but forgot to tell us they had shrimp in the vegetable eggrolls. He was sincerely apologetic and happily gave us the bill. I found it humorous that my mom's eggroll had more shrimp than my whole dish. It was the running joke at lunch. Anyway, from the room temperature dish I received, to the shellfish scare with my mother, I won't be returning. read more

Since moving here 5 years ago, Chopstix has been our go-to place for chinese and sushi. I love love LOVE the pearl river roll! And their steamed chicken with broccoli in a garlic sauce is amazing! Usually when I go to chopstix, I am a sucker for their sushi, but today I decided to order a "super meal." I ordered sweet and sour chicken, which came with a choice of soup (I ordered the chicken corn soup) and also came with 2 crab wontons and 2 pieces of shrimp toast. All of this was only $12.95! My friend ordered almost the same thing except she ordered the orange chicken super meal which was only $13.95! We both ended up taking home leftovers and I'm glad that I decided to venture out of my normal routine of ordering sushi, because the chinese food was just as good as the sushi. The food was great (as always) and our server was extremely nice too. Even the hostess at the front door tonight was delightful. Everyone was friendly, I always have only positive things to say about both the staff and the food. As always, I plan on making a return trip to this location of Chopstix, as I have never been disappointed. read more

I went to Chopstix with my sister the other day for a late lunch, and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the sushi roll I ordered, the Volcano Roll especially the quality of the crab meat used in the roll, it was delicious! My sister was also pleased with her Tempura and California Roll Combo lunch. It seemed like a good deal for including miso soup and a salad with it. We tried some green tea ice cream which was also very good. I can't wait to return and try some of the other specialty rolls! read more
