This was our first visit here. The cheeseburger had no seasoning, under cooked and my fist bite I thought I was eating charcoal! I eat my onion rings, which were good and threw away the cheeseburger. The entire metal counter top was filthy, it should be cleaned often, thank goodness for the plastic trays that we eat from. The stools felt so uncomfortable, they need to put softer and larger seats. I feel sorry for the employees and customer that uses their dirty bathroom, they should invest in a remodel CLEAN bathroom. My son didn't digest the cheeseburger, he was so sick in the bathroom at home for over a hour! NEVER GOING BACK! read more

My wife was craving a cheeseburger. The greasier the better. The way I look at it, if I'm going to have a cheeseburger (which isn't very often) it better be damn greasy, slip-slidy, and full of regret when I'm through with it. It was what it was advertised as: a diner burger to the T. By the time I was done with it and the fries I was plenty full and lethargic. The choclate shake we ordered (while tastey) was still frozen thick enough to keep a large flag pole erect through the entire meal and we took turns struggling to pull a sip through the 2" wide straw. I would come back to Choppers if I was in the neighborhood though I probably wouldn't make a special trip in a blizzard. read more

Perfect. The food is all big and tasty. I usually get the Benny Burger, a triple cheeseburger that is gigantic, and all meat and cheese, greasy gooey awesomeness. It's just $5.95! The shakes are on point, with lots of flavors. The fries are generously portioned crispy steak fries. I am always happy coming here, and always full after. read more

I have ben going here for over 20 years!! Best burgers in town. They always get youre order rite. I reccomend choppak and oreo shake.

I frequent this burger joint often and it's great quality from a local "diner". The pricing is a little steep but expected from a mom-and-pop shop like this. Only 4-Stars for the cleanliness. read more

If someone told me I had 24 hours left to live I would spend two minutes of it eating some salty fat fries dripping with coleslaw. Oh Choppers, I love you but you make me sick. read more

The best steak fries and burgers. Their service is always on point. The food comes out fast and delicious. I always buy bulk of the coleslaw! read more

Ok, my wife and I used to live down street from this place over 10 years ago. We were recently in the old hood having dinner and stopped by for a shake because, even at our advanced age we remembered they had awesome shakes! Well, they didn't disappoint...Choppers is still cranking out the best shakes around! Couldn't tell you about the rest of the menu and don't really care...for me, this is one of those places you would make a pilgrimage for late on a Friday night when you are craving something cold and sweet. Had a banana shake that was awesome and the wife had peanut butter and chocolate...mmmmmm good! Five stars for the shakes - get some! read more

My favorite local burger. The Choppak is the best deal in town because it comes with a double cheeseburger, fries and coleslaw. If you're really willing to take it to a "heart attack on a plate" level add a milkshake. You will not be disappointed!! read more

WORST!! Ordered turkey burger and salad via grub-hub.. the turkey was burnt! Burnt food is linked to cancer!!!

I went to school at burr across the street and i remember when choppers first opened up. It was a great spot and they had all the greats. Burgers, viennas, beefs cheese fries. You name it is was fantastic. So i am disappointed that when i ordered the choppak special with a shake, i received the sloppiest burger ever. The bun was soaked with ketchup and mustared and their was so much lettuce it fell apart when i picked it up. 2 patties of undercooked meat didn't help. Big fries but nothing to scream about. Very disappointed. If you're gonna be sloppy make it good. I would give this 2 stars only because they have a big menu read more

This place always puts a smile on my face. Its so unanbashingly greasy, unhealthy, and downright tasty you gotta love it. Maybe you had a rough day at work, or you're nursing a hangover, or you just ran a marathon, you could justify eating a huge Choppak and shake here, and you'll love every bite. Afterward you'll feel pretty bad about yourself, but you'll be back. My only gripes are: 1. Bland Fries 2. Useless straws for the shakes 3. So much mayo in the slaw my heart hurts. Gotta love the Choppers method of counting meat: a triple has three patties of beef and a quad has four and so on :-) read more

This was THE WORST customer service I have experienced in years. I placed an order on grub-hub with 3 other co-workers. 3 chop-paks and a combo beef. My food came with a sharpie included in the Styrofoam container..... how unprofessional can you be!!!!!! I also ordered a side of cheese which was not included along with the extra mayo i asked for!!!! I called and the guy was unsympathetic and hung up on me mid sentence!!!!!! NEVER AGAIN WILL I ORDER FROM THEM!!!! also one of my co-workers said the meat tasted old...... read more

Terrible. Cd hardly drink the Cherry Choc Mocha milkshake because I had to stop and savor the deliciousness with every sip. I don't have time for that, I'm busy blogging. Absurd cole slaw. None of the vegetables in the slaw were cooked. Insane. Eating raw vegetables! Chicken breast sandwich. Pathetic. Chef can't figure how to get a piece of chicken small enough to fit neatly inside the bread. My chicken breast was so big, I had to eat more chicken than starchy, filling bread. And it's French bread! What happened to good old Wonder bread? What's the point of bread if you can't roll it into little balls like play dough & throw them at your siblings during supper? Fast delivery, but the delivery guy looks like Caesar Romero. You can imagine my disappointment when I saw Caesar Romero approaching my door only to find out he was just delivering food. Heartbreaking. Very dim experience with Choppers. I'll definitely be ordering from them again. read more

Pretty, disappointed, I have had way better burgers, fries and chicken samiches. Shake was too thick. Bleh, i will pass.

this place is fantastic! its super cheap and they make great fried zucchini and onion rings.. i always order from here when i need a junk food fix read more

Went after work to have some food. Found the burger to be blah. No real flavor. Just a burger. The fried veggies were extremely greasy like they forgot to allow them to drip after frying them. A big no no as the mushrooms were uber mushy. the only thing I really enjoyed here was the milkshake and the dipped bread. I don't think I will be back here any time soon. Sorry Choppers, others rave I thought it was bad. read more

Makes your burps taste like Burger King!

For the most part every time my hubby and i go it has been absolutely awesome. It was just one time where the beef was soooo burned it literally gave us (yes both of us) chills down our spine. It tasted like a mouthful of burned charcoal. Sadly , we couldn't finish it :(. Next time i believe the owner was there snd we asked if we could get it not so cooked, because last time it was extremely burned and he just replied eith a " NO". Okay then, youre lucky your food is good you big meanie : / We' ve had the choppak once, but naw go for the quad!!our new favorite. Dont be intimidated by it!!youll love it, its just one of thise things you have to get at least once lol. Also the PB malt is AMAZING if ur a PB lover. Fries are always good, nicely cooked, sometimes steak fries stay a bit raw bcuz they are so thick, but these never are.the coleslaw is so good too, not sweet like other places and doesn't taste store bought. I honestly think it tastes fresh. You can see and taste the pepper and appreciate the texture of the colorful cabbage, very creamy although not to the point where the taste gets to u.its just right. The chicken sandwich is good too, although ive only had a taste of it once. Get the quad, im telling u! Even if you cant finish it, trust me u will be glad you had leftovers because youll be craving it the next day again lbvs! Oh yeah did i mention the QUAD?! Get it! Great now i want a quad with all this quad talk!Yummm read more

Ive been back since having the tasty Italian Beef sandwich. As I feared, it was terrible the second time. Thickly sliced, gray, fatty, and lacking flavor. Guess they're not consistent with the beef. Too bad, because it sure was good the first time I tried it. read more

FRIES= Amazing!!!! I'm a happy camper. They have a good lunch special, if you like meat you can't go wrong with the Choppak for $4.95

I guess I'm the only one who isn't infatuated with this place. It's cute and all, but I have one very specific complaint, which is that there is some kind of funny seasoning in the burgers, which I think might be paprika -- not that there's anything wrong with that, but it doesn't agree with my palate. Still, it's hard to find a good greaseburger in this part of the city so Choppers sometimes needs to do the job. read more

Try their shakes and their famous "choppack burger " A 3 beef patty artery clogging burger that you would agree was well worth the heart attack . read more

My friend and I were looking for something quick for dinner. We decided to try out choppers. Easy parking caught my eye. I got a cheese burger and fries to go. The burger was fantastic. Cooked perfectly. It was super messy to eat. I am happy I was eating in the comfort of my own home. The grilled onions added a great flavor to the burger. Fries are steak fries. There were so many I had to split the bag in half. For under $5 I had a great meal. Next time I hope to try a shake. There are tons of flavors, peanut butter and jelly? what??. Ill be back! read more

I use to live around the corner from this place (before I moved to Lincoln Park). Naturally, I had to break down and eat at Choppers. Amazing and delicious food and very inexpensive. The staff is very efficient and friendly. The burgers are the best and the giant steak size fries hit the spot. read more

For a fast food, reasonably priced burger I give Choppers five stars, I laughed when I read Sara's review because that's exactly when my husband and I go to Choppers, when we are trying to nurse a hangover :) I think that's a theme for others too because there are always people our age in sweat pants going in on Sundays looking haggard! The burgers taste very, very good and I love their thick fries.....we always get a shake as well (because again, I'm usually hurting and need to indulge!), which I think are pretty good. I always get my burger with cheese and grilled onions and oh boy am I a happy gal - had one for lunch today and am still dreaming about it 6 hours later, ha! read more

This place in Chicago to get Milkshakes (that I'm aware of). They are soooo good (and probably about a million calories, but who cares). The burgers are pretty good and sloppy. Parking here is pretty rough though since the parking lot is tiny and behind a divider. You can figure it out if you make a couple of laps though :) read more

Overall nothing special about the burger, I just had to have it cause it was huge... but that being said, the price was right, and the burger was good, fresh and delicious. Im a fan, is it as fancy as some of the other burger joints in the city, no... but its a great place if you just want a burger.. read more

Despite its shabby exterior and outdated interior decor, this place has (to my surprise) decent I'm-gonna-clog-my-arteries-but-I-don't-care food. read more

Not the best burger I've ever had, but great for a fast greasy meal (and don't act like you don't want one now and then). The Choppak is a great deal. Only 5 bucks (pre-drink, that's where they get you), and I've never been able to finish all the food they give you. read more

Great cheap burgers. I would take this burger over one from small bar, but that's just me. I'm a long time IN N' OUT fan and this is the closest thing I have found as of yet. I highly recommend Choppers if you're looking for a non-gourmet almost backyard grill style burger. Food is served very fast and is made to order! read more

Their shakes are dangerously delicious! I've tried the apple cinnamon, pineapple, and chocolate peanut butter and they were all good. Their food is priced really reasonably and it's tasty if you're looking for good hot dogs, italian beef, chicken sandwiches and big steak fries. Like someone else said, it's a good treat if you're craving something that's not so healthy. read more

Bought a well done choppak with everything. It includes yummy cole slaw and fries. Wish there were pickles. The milkshakes are even better than the cheeseburger. Fast service. Booths and individual seats available. Parking lot is small but people come and go regularly. read more

Excellent grilled chicken. Lettuce is fresh dark green romaine not crappy ice burg lettuce you get at most burger joints. Friendly fast service today. Choppers will kill you, with it's awesomeness. Fancy burgers they are not. But they are delicious, better and cheaper than a 5 guys burger, in my opinion. The shakes are great, I go for Chocolate and peanut butter. It is a greasy spot, but sometimes my man boobs need a shake and double cheeseburger. read more
