Came here yesterday and was completely blown away. This is probably the 2nd most authentic indian restaurant Ive ever been too. I love the Idli Sambar bowl along with the masala dosa. The Sambar/Daal was very unique too. I loved everything about it. I hope to come back here again despite it being a little pricey. read more

But, I heard about Chopathi a few times from friends and some of the authentic food that is coming - so finally stopped by to for lunch and ordered Mysore Bonda, punugulu, and Chicken Dum Biryani. It lived up to my expectations of what an authentic food taste like both in quality, flavor, and quantity for the money. Mysore Bonda and punugulu reminded me of the taste from back home. Chicken Dum Biryani was really flavorful and tasty. This is a fast serve restaurant, so don't expect someone to greet you at the door and seat you. I asked for extra raitha, sauce, and to go box - the staff was quick to respond. The place has everything a sit-in restaurant offers - the ambiance, cleanliness, and food to the table, I will come back for a dinner with my family. I went here due to good Yelp reviews but was highly disappointed with the lack of cleanliness and bland flavor. We ordered the paneer chili which lacked flavor along with the onion dosa which wasn't thoroughly cooked. We ordered an onion uttapam and it never made its way to our table! The floors were so slippery we told them to clean it and it took telling them three times to clean it. The tables weren't clean either. Overall a disappointment but the manager was kind enough to apologize and also refund us for the two dishes. Won't be going back again. read more

Very disappointed with the food, chicken dhaniya and chicken 65 is not fresh and biryani has no taste, even after we mentioned spicy, nothing was spicy. This has happened 3 times with us. And all 3 times was after eating the Dosa, sambar at chopathi. Our stomachs got upset after eating here! I don't know what's going on with their Dosa batter or something at this restaurant, but they need to check and redo their food policies. My stomach is generally not super sensitive and I got food poisoning that lasted 2+ days, while being 7m pregnant. My daughter only ate plain ghee Dosa and her tummy got upset too. My husband who ate Dosa here in our last trip to this restaurant, had a bad tummy for 2 days. So definitely something is up with their Dosas. I also had their dessert this time which was called junnu(made out of fresh Buffalo milk right after giving birth) and maybe that was unpasteurized? I'm not sure, they need to clarify it and pasteurize it, or else do not feed it to the public without a warning. That's especially not safe for pregnant women. I don't think we will be coming back here, after 3 recent incidents. There are plenty other south Indian restaurants in the area with better quality control. read more

It is not a traditional indian restaurant but more like quick fast food joint with wide range of items. I tried some chicken curry spicy and was very pleased to have a good traditional chicken curry. Plus the spicy was indian spicy which was a bonus. Chhole and Idli very good as well. I am happy to have some good indian food. read more

We each ordered a few items from the menu and shared. The cashier and cooks were super friendly and patient with me, explaining some of the food and suggesting options. I tried this place when I was craving some quick Indian food for a cheaper price. I came in here and was a bit confused on where and how to order. I wanted to try a rota but even though it was on the menu, the guy said they didn't have them--strange, why put something on the menu if you don't even serve it? OK, so I went with the samosas and some chicken biryani. The guy had a hard time understanding me and even though I have ordered Indian food a million times, the menu was a bit confusing on the different items. I waited about 15 minutes for my food, which for a "fast" food Indian place, is a bit of a wait. When I got home I was happy they had included all the sauces for the biryani and the samosas, something you often have to pay extra for at other places. The samosas were good but I guess by the time I had been done waiting for the biryani and got home (A 5 minute drive) they were cold already. The biryani was seasoned well but otherwise, a very strange take on it. The chicken had so much bone with it that I literally had to stop every 30 seconds to pick out bone from my mouth. I am used to nice, soft pieces of chicken within the biryani but having to literally pick around bone on every piece was gross and overall ruined my meal. We often go for take out orders from chopathi, Ashburn because of the quality of food they serve, even though they are priced at higher rates compared to other Indian restaurants. Once we ordered Naatu Kodi fry, it had more fried onions than chicken pieces. In our next experience, we informed them about it and they assured that it will not be repeated and took care of it. But, this time they gave us stale mutton biryani and we can actually smell it. We did not call them back as it was late night and repeated bad experience. We stopped going there and we wouldn't recommend anyone. read more

Stopped here for a late Friday lunch. Ordered Mysore bonda, Vada, Babai Idli, and rava dosa. All food was delivered fresh and very tasty. The chutneys were outstanding and the spicing was just right. The masala chai is also very good. We also ordered a family pack mutton Biryani to take home, and that was excellent as well. This places uses the concept of chipotle/kawa though in a indian version. The chicken bowl was quite good with fried chicken, vindaloo sauce and veggies. The paneer though was not upto the mark. You get the taste of raw paneer and it doesnt mix well with the sauce. The samosas and the cutlets are decent. The deserts here are quite good and a must try. read more

The flavors are wonderful. The food was good at dine in and I was very happy with it. So I decided to cater with them for an event recently and felt they are not good in catering. Firstly, the food arrived at 6:35pm (after follow up phone call), but supposed to come at 6:00 pm (settings up took another 15 mins) guests had to wait for 45 mins for their appetizers. The reason the delivery guy mentioned was they had other few big catering on the same day so they were busy and that's why the delay. Unacceptable to me. Secondly, the quantity of food. I have ordered large shallow veg biryani tray, but they delivered half tray which was insufficient and many veg guests didn't have entrée. Raita was very less for the large shallow Chicken biryani, large shallow Mutton biryani and half tray Veg biryani. The delivery guy went and brought some raita later but no point in having raita without Veg biryani. They have accepted their fault in delivering half tray veg biryani instead of large shallow tray (and asked me to pay only for half tray), but what is the point when there isn't enough food for the guests. Unacceptable to me. Size of Vada they serve at dine in and the one they catered me were smaller, I was told it will be the same size of what is being served at dine in. Not a very big deal to me, but they should deliver what they promise while ordering. Beetroot Halwa was good. The delivery guy did good job as well. I would probably dine in, but wouldn't cater with them again! read more
