Service was really slow, they no longer carry the chocolate dipped elephant ear! THIS IS A DEAL BREAKER. I MAY NO LONGER RETURN TO CHOMPIES. Picked up a chocolate stick & 2 raspberry filled stick things. I like the chocolate stick but I LOVE the elephant ear dipped in chocolate.

Service was great, food not so much. I got the Eggs Benedict with Lox. It was so humongous it was hard to eat. The bread was barely toasted. There was a full sliced onion on each piece and tomatoes were a little too thick. The eggs were cooked decent but small. Sauce was ok. I ended up eating the eggs and lox only, and hash browns. It wasn't worth the $20. My mimosa was the best part. I'll stick to just buying bagels here.

I have grown up in the Valley all my life and have been eating at Chompies for as long as I can remember. Sadly, this last time may just be our last. My husband and I waited to be sat in a practically empty restaurant. We sat for 20 minutes before receiving waters or acknowledged period. When we finally placed our order he waitress seemed annoyed with us! Just being there... We ordered 2 pastrami sandwiches and 2 sodas. That plus the tip was $71!!!! And when she flipped her iPad around the tips started at like $20% and up! And the sandwiches seemed smaller then usual. Absolutely terrible experience at this location! Never again! Such a bummer. I should have requested a refund it was such a disappointment.

Fast friendly service. The sandwiches were freshly prepared and so big. The Lox & Loaded I ordered was piled so high I could not get my mouth around it, so I had to half the half to eat it. The flavors were incredible. The Neil sliders were juicy and flavorful. This location has a casual feel and located by the mall. Delicious New York deli flavors.

This is a picture of the $16.99 crunchy munchy chicken wrap my upgraded side was a $1.49 cup of soup. Boy have time changed I put the pepper shaker behind the wrap to show the proportion. Each half of the wrap is approximately 2"tall. With 3 small pieces of chicken. Nevertheless was extremely unhappy with the wrap. The Mushroom Barley soup and service was great! Not sure we will be back!

It isn't New York and it is still missing something but if New York had a little half cousin in the valley this would be it. I order corn beef and pastrami sandwich. It didn't make me swing my feet or wiggle my toes but I did do a head nod of approval. The sandwich was good. I still had better. Try it for yourself you may like it!

Barrio Bread collaboration with Chompie's is a great addition

UPDATE May 2025: Yay for now selling the Barrio Bakery/Chompie's bagels! It's not easy to get Barrio Bread out our way, so I was very excited that they and Chompie's teamed up on a few varieties of bagels. I tried the Focaccia style and it was loaded with rosemary and smelled so good upon opening the bag. Toasting them really brought out the flavor. I don't believe they are a boiled bagel so if you are looking for that true NY shiny outside style, these are not them, but the dough itself is unique, so read about it on Barrio's site. They are c. $2+ each and sold in a 1/2 dozen bag, so yeah, they are pricey, but they are a really tasty treat and you are helping two great local companies and more. The flour comes from Hayden Mills, BKW Farms, and other items are also sourced locally and benefit groups such as San Xavier Cooperative Farm on the Tohono O'odham Nation in the ancestral village of Wa:k.

In 1997, our family pulled into Scottsdale and began a new life. We settled into the 92nd and Shea area and started to explore the neighborhood. We found Chompies and it became a weekly treat. The food was amazing! The pickles on the table could only whet the appetite. It stood apart from other restaurants. Fast forward a quarter century. We are now grandparents and our closest Chompies is at Arrowhead Mall. We have introduced it to many friends. Alas, I have decided to no longer go to the restaurant. My husband will have to get his Monte Cristo elsewhere. Why? The management of the Arrowhead location has boldly and consistently failed to make their restrooms clean. I have stood in puddles of questionable fluid to relieve myself. I have had dresses and skirts made wet. It is disgusting and shameful. The tiles and stalls are filthy. The photos below show streaks on the walls. I ran my finger over one and it smeared. It's not stained. It's FILTH. Is this where the staff go? Do they stand in puddles and touch the walls before they deliver our food? Why is this acceptable? This location should be inspected for e coli wherever employees frequent. It needs a professional cleaning and a plan to change, or lock the doors because they stopped caring.

I know some of you are uneducated about the quality of a meatball sandwich & that's ok, I'm not judging so do not be offended. To begin... This is a neighborhood place just like back east , nestled in a neighborhood on the corner hidden from the strip mall garbage. When you come here, and you better, do not be distracted by the path to tasty food. It is in an older neighborhood with minimal parking but fantastic personalities, service & FOOD! Upon entry it's a time warp for us who grew up in a time that was better. This is a good Olde Fashion deli that sells great food with amazing service. Franks is a family place. Back to the real topic... Meatball Sandwich; when you ask what is the cheese that use & the owner is educated on quality be states "Provolone on the bottom, Mozzarella on top" just know you're in the right place! The flavor is top notch, added some cherry peppers to spice it up just right, bell peppers & onions are standard. Took it to go, drove about 20 minutes to where I needed to be, the aroma was teasing me, the concern of the sandwich being cold or soggy rang in my mind while driving the 17 to the 10.. I was nervous, anxious & salivating.... Opening the togo container to see the glorious sandwich! The meatballs are still hot, the sauce is holding place & the bread is still bread, not some soggy remnant of dough! Thank you for the pride, quality & tasty sandwich.

Interesting, varied menu, too! Very generous portions... and the chicken pieces were real, actual sized pieces of chicken... not like the canary-sized tidbits served up by today's fried chicken chain outlets! Although the seating area was VERY small (store front operation,) the facilities were bright, clean and well maintained. The staff was welcoming, patient and most helpful as we worked our way through their surprisingly large, and varied menu! Reasonably priced, too! The menu is massive with all day breakfast and lunch, and if I lived closer, I would absolutely have made this a local spot to frequent for a taste of home. Plus they have several vegetarian items on the menu and even a vegan breakfast dish! We weren't allowed to dine in, so we took our order to go & ate in the car. I got the veggie reuben & my man got the number 3 (turkey sub). I also ordered 2 knishes (1 spinach & 1 plain) and a black & white cookie. The reuben was scrumptious with the buttery crisp toasted rye bread and packed with veggies. The pickles on the side were not as crisp as I would have liked but still good. The turkey sandwich was not piled high as expected but it was still a good amount of turkey with some cheese & toppings. It was so filling he could only eat half & saved the rest for later. The bread was plain white sub roll and was soft and chewy. No complaints on the sub and he enjoyed it. The knish didn't look like the ones I grew up eating, but these were homemade and way better than the square patty style from the hot dog carts in the city. They were packed with filling and had a thin crust layer around (definitely needed to eat with fork). The spinach was spread throughout & the combo with potato was even. Love that the black & white cookie was homemade! These are my favorite cookies & I always have to get one when I go back home to visit. These were different from the bakery ones I usually get (this icing was soft rather than hard shell type), but it was still delicious!
