Absolutely love chompers but had such a terrible experience yesterday and I won't be returning. The hostess was the rudest most dismissive condescending person when I asked about our table. As you know your entire party must be present to be seated. We had 9 adults and 4 kids. We expected to wait knowing chompers is always busy and being a large group. However we waited for an hour as parties of 4 and 6 were continually seated within 10-15 minutes after arrival. A woman arrived told the hostess hey girl I was hoping you could squeeze in my party of 6 my friends surprised us from out of town. She responded 15-20 there's only a party of 3 in front of you. Meanwhile I ask another employee about our wait and he said you are definitely up next your name is circled that means priority don't skip. I asked the hostess you are not going to seat the party of 6 that just came in before us are you? She responded if there's room I am! I said if you continue to do that we will never get seated she well that's what I am doing. We have always had excellent customer service this was very surprising read more

Anyone's chief complaint would be the wait. But guess what? You're waiting for a reason. It's popular because the food is great. The food takes a little time because it's almost entirely made from scratch. We are visiting family here in Hayden. We came with my Mother in law. When we first arrived, the outside of the restaurant was so cute and very clean. As we walked in the door, the bar was located directly to the left. We were seated quickly. Our waitress was very friendly and the service was excellent. I tried the BATS omelette and it was delicious. The Chomper fries are on point and definitely recommend getting them. Every thing was delicious and very well priced. This is a great breakfast/lunch spot with ample parking and awesome service. While visiting Silverwood theme park we decided to eat at local restaurants. The first bonus was the parking here. They don't have RV parking per se, but the lot was huge and we had no problem parking our 25 foot trailer and truck. The service here was phenomenal. Right away you can tell it's a hometown diner with people who care. The place was packed and yet we got no excuses friendly and prompt service as if to say "we are proud we are this busy". All the food was on point. Bacon was crisp and well cooked. Waffles were light and crispy. The star was the sausage gravy. It was pretty special and we can't recommend it enough. It's always a good sign when you get to a place and there's a wait. For an impatient guy like me it took a lot not to just turn around and find somewhere with immediate seating. (Immediate seating usually translates into a mediocre nationally branded restaurant). Chomper Cafe is the farthest thing from mediocre. Since there was only two of us, we were able to sit at the counter and were served very quickly. The awesomeness started right away with a cup of fresh ground Doma coffee. While it's not my favorite local coffee, it shows that the folks who run the place have put some thought into what they're doing. We didn't get much past the breakfast section of the menu since that's the reason we were there but there was a good selection of burgers and sandwiches to compliment the breakfast items. I came to a full stop at the CFS (that is, chicken fried steak for the uninitiated) and the wife at the Country Boy Benny. My gauge of a breakfast spot is quality of the CFS. If I could I could give a ten star review I surely would! These folks nailed it in spades. Instead of the all too frequent chopped, processed, and frozen C+ food service CFS patty Chomper Cafe uses an 8 or so ounce petite sirloin that was so tender that I could literally cut it with a fork. It took me a minute or two to figure out what the flavor was I was tasting. It was STEAK FLAVOR!!! Everything that surrounded this masterpiece was equal in quality and flavor, from the smooth sausage gravy to the perfectly cooked over medium eggs. The Country Boy Benny that the wife had was a delicious looking combo consisting of two biscuits, patty sausage, and eggs topped with the same sausage gravy. She opted for the Chopper Fries which are thick sliced deep fried potatoes. Since she finished it all, I'd call that a winner, too! One of the best parts was the staff. They worked well with each other and seemed to genuinely enjoy working with one another. If there was any drama or tension it was certainly *not* customer facing. It's a bit of a drive from Spokane but worth it for any true breakfast lover. We're definitely coming back to work our way through this menu. read more

The food itself was pretty bland and lacking effort-- especially in the spam, eggs, and rice (which was served specifically with chopsticks for some reason??). This is one of our favorites, just recently, to go for breakfast. Churro waffles are amazing. Mexican hot chocolate is only for the brave at heart; it's spicy but delicious. I'm the only one our family that enjoys it though. They have great pancakes, great omelets and good Benedict's. I like that they have smoked salmon as a choice for benedicts. The country benedict is a bit too heavy for me, comes with biscuits and gravy, but yummy for sure. The service is good, they are all very nice, but for as many as there are running around, it can be hard to get there attention sometimes. The booths could use updating as they are messed up, but otherwise it's a very charming setting. There's even a fire outside of you need you waiting for your table on the front porch. Really cute setting next to a barn and a nice patio. I do t like that you cannot be put on a waiting list from the phone as the wait can be long. However, the aforementioned charming surroundings makes the wait not so bad. We'll keep coming back for sure! read more

Came here on a Saturday around 9am- right during their breakfast rush hour-naturally! It was pretty cold outside so we stuffed ourselves into the front waiting room- against the counter diners (very small counter). We were not sure where to check in-as the waitresses were pretty busy. We finally saw someone write their name on a board-which was their waitlist. Would have been helpful if there were a sign-or a quick greeting from someone to instruct us how they do things. That aside, it only took about 20 minutes to be sat, and our server was prompt & friendly. The food was quick to get out to us and was a satisfying breakfast. We recommend the cinnamon roll with huckleberry sauce! YUM! We will be back. read more

First and last time here! Went at 11:00. Said it would be 15 minutes to be seated. Closer to 45 minutes. Still wanting to try this spot since we've heard amazing things we went in to try to order the food. Obviously already frustrated. While my spouse claims her chicken fried steak was a tad salty and covered with a paucity of gravy, our daughter mowed down her breakfast sandwich and house potatoes. I took Yelp's collective suggestion of the hash which was originally savory. I met up with some friends for breakfast. We were able to be seated immediately and coffee's came right out with a smile. The place seemed alive with other patrons laughter and lively conversations. It took us about 45 minutes to get a table (to be fair it was a bit packed) and another 25 minutes to get our food. Overall the food was okay, except the bacon. The bacon looked like it had been sent to the sun and was charred as well as burnt. The Sprite tasted like sweet water with little carbonation. Remembered having a great experience here however coming back they have closed the kids kitchen because of Covid but Will give you a pancake syrup dispenser that probably 15 other tables have touched. Fortunately I found out before I ordered food and did not drink my orange juice or my coffee and do not support this restaurant anymore. Chompers is new and needs some kinks worked out to be great. The wait time is average for a decent breakfast place, so be prepared. The atmosphere is "cozy" but they could eliminate the childs' kitchen play area to accommodate a few more two person tables. Once seated we ordered the "appetizer" cinnamon roll, but didn't get it till we got bfast and ended taking it home at that point. A few hours later we had the roll. I probably wouldn't get the maple pecan again. The maple frosting was over cooked and was too sugary and the roll was very dry. My omelet was pretty good, along with the chomper fries. I did like that they had great strawberry jam AND they put it in a squeeze bottle instead of the tiny plastic cups...so that was a bonus. It's too bad they don't use local bread to make it fabulous. Their gravy was good, but not the best in town and not quite the same as their counterpart restaurant (not as thick and less meat and tasted like cheese...weird). My breakfast cohort had the chicken fry, said it was "okay." He originally wanted corned beef hash, but were out of browns. His boy got the french toast, it looked good and he gobbled it right down. I suppose it's picky, but I prefer raw sugar for my coffee, but the main thing that really got me, was the food temp. Everything we got was just warm and not hot, so it was sitting for awhile and that is one thing that is hard for me to get over. It's hard, I want to compare it to The Cottage, since I know there is a strong affiliation, but it's probably not fair to them with me doing that and I'm a breakfast snob, so there's that. This place is definitely better than most places in the Cd'A/Hayden area and they could give my favorite place a run, but they need to refine things a wee bit. Went to breakfast with a friend. Heard great things about this place and I am so sorry I ate there. Food was horrible. Thirteen dollars for 2 eggs, bacon, one piece of white toast (should have been sour dough). Instead of hash browns, I asked for fruit and the server said it would be extra (???). Really? for $13??? My friend said her breakfast was pretty bad as well. I didn't finish mine. Just couldn't. I won't be back. Ever. read more

I have to say I went there for the first time very nice location and very nice setting. The problem was I ordered eggs Benedict with salmon. The salmon was supposed to be smoked but not only was it not smoked or it didn't taste smoked it was super super fishy. Everyone knows that fishy salmon is the worst. I spoke with the staff and told them that and they said we get our salmon from Bella 's brunch in Hayden and they smoke it I said to them it is definitely super fishy and I didn't even taste smoked. They told me they were sorry about that but the only problem was I didn't offer to replace my meal or comp me for at least my meal and I will pay for my girlfriends meal. They basically said sorry but tough luck. I'm not mad that the salmon was fishy it happens. I'm just mad that they could've just took care of it and I would've came back. read more
