Location: 4/5 This location is located in the heart of Old Lévi, which is just a ferry away from Quebec City. We spent half a day here enjoying the city view across the river and having fun at the splash pad. It was a hot and sunny day, so we decided to cool ourselves off with a good old ice cream! Decor/Ambience: 4.5/5 Pretty spacious with amble amount of seating both outside and inside. It was super cute and yet not over the top! Never have I enjoyed eating soft serve ice cream before! You choose the cone size then they will dip the vanilla ice cream into your chosen flavor. 12 flavors to choose from and I tried the dark chocolate Tanzania which has more cacao. The less messy way of eating this is biting it from the top then using a spoon to scoop out the ice cream. I learned this after the mess I created by biting it all the way through. Similar to Chocolato. Really good chocolate and gelato. We opted for a pumpkin spice soft serve here. Dipped it in mochacino chocolate and just enjoyed staring at the rain while getting our sweet fix. Tip: Let the chocolate harden before taking a bite. After a three day stay in Quebec city I finally found a good ice cream shop, on the last day! There was a little line up outside this shop as we approached. The smell of chocolate hits you immediately as you walk through the door. There were an incredible amount of options. Not only ice cream but chocolates and other sweet treats. Me and my husband had already decided we wanted to cool down on this hot day so we went for the dulce de leche and orange with dark chocolate ice creams. Even though we opted for the petite size, once we got the sweets in our hands we were amazed by how big they actually were. Nonetheless we started eating our ice creams and were immediately sold. We got the soft serve ice creams, but the experience was spoiled by the thickness of the fondue, which hardened and was 1.5cm thick at some points. It was so thick that we had to take off the chocolate and set it aside instead. Also, everyone else seemed to get the mini size which was honestly adequate. I got the soft serve chocolate ice cream which they said has to be served in a cup, which was fine, but honestly if you're going to go for a chocolate soft serve, go for the gelato instead. The chocolate soft serve was so watered down I was disappointed In all, my companion and I would give them 2 stars, but the cashier was really so helpful and friendly, we felt too guilty. For those of you like me - chocolate addict on a student budget - you know how difficult it is to have to turn your back on gourmet chocolate due to the price. Or maybe you don't as we often are very good at justifying any price point to get the goods! I digress...my point is that Les Chocolats Favoris, while not cheap, sells my favourite - chocolats imparfait! ...a nice way to label "rejects!" indeed. You can buy these babies for less than half the price so long as you can bear to eat one with a crooked decal, or imperfect corner. In my opinion they taste even better! What a great idea! Also, it is important to note the cones. As previously mentioned, they are not messing around with that crumbly "chocolate" crackle stuff that all falls apart after your first bite. I'm talking about a 1/4" thick parka of dark/milk/d'erable/other flavours ontop of the best (Quebeon) soft serve. This chocolate has backbone and does not crumble at any point. You'll be biting chunks of it off until you're done. It is like what I imagine winning the jackpot would taste like. I know people say there is not much to do in Levis, but if you're in Quebec make a trip over there and hit up LCF. If you stay until sunset there is a good point where you can get some beautiful pics of the Chateau on the other side of the river - great night-scape of Quebec! read more

Best chocolate dipped cone ever!!! I usually avoid places like this due to the lack of quality and high prices experienced at those other dairy places in Ontario, but since I was on vacation and it was recommended by the lovely girl at the Levis Tourism office I gave it a try, and WOW what a surprise! I thought I was just ordering a chocolate dipped cone and didn't expect too much, but what I got was very smooth and creamy soft serve vanilla in a cone "enrobed" in a thick layer of high quality milk chocolate. This was not the thin layer of cheap chocolatey coating that you get at the local Ontario diary places. The quality of their dips are very high and they are available as dips for cones and also in bars and small chocolates. While I was waiting in the 15 person line for my ice cream I had the pleasure of trying chocolate bar samples their CAFÉ CRÈME and BISCUIT ET CRÈME flavours, and both were excellent smooth and creamy, real chocolate! As we walked out the door the lineup grew to at least 30 people, something you wouldn't expect if the quality and service was not there! I would like to try all 12 flavours, but alas Chocolates Favours does not have any locations near Toronto, Orleans ON is the closest location :-( read more

This was a hidden jem and truly unexpected find. We decided to take the ferry across the water and wander around. So glad we did. You have to hike up a huge hill from where the ferry docks, but hey you have to earn your ice cream, right? This is a super cute chocolate shop. This is the best chocolate-dipped soft-serve ice cream that I have ever had. In Levis, my boyfriend walked over to Favoris after a leisurely lunch. I was surprised to find that they offered over 7 types of warm dipping chocolates, ranging from milk chocolate to 70% cacao. I chose their darkest chocolate over vanilla ice cream, and my knees almost buckled, from pleasure, when I took my first lick. Favoris is that good. On our return drive from New Brunswick, we stopped here again, this time trying the dark chocolate with pepper dipping sauce. It was so, so good. Among other places, the lovely young lady suggested we might enjoy an ice cream at Chocolats Favoris. We wandered up the steps, enjoyed a walk through town, and found this wonderful shop. Soft ice cream dipped in your choice of no less than ten different chocolates, which harden to a crunch on your treat. So many choices that I had to step out of line to think about what I wanted! I had orange ice cream dipped in 70% dark chocolate. Simply amazing! My daughter enjoyed her vanilla with milk chocolate. I only wish they were offering maple ice cream the day we were there. (I have a serious love of maple.) There were tables outside to enjoy your treats, and it seemed a steady stream of customers. They also sell all sorts of delightful chocolates. After reading the many overwhelmingly positive reviews of this place while planning my visit to QC, I made it a priority to come here. I took the enjoyable ferry ride across from QC, and then I made it a challenge to climb the steps up from the dock area and then the further climb from there up the hills to Av Begin. I arrived on a Sunday night at 9PM, and the line was still all the way out onto the sidewalk. I was completely drenched in sweat from the exercise challenge to get here, but I would not be denied. The line was long but moved relatively quickly; within 15 minutes I was choosing my orange flavored soft serve topped with the most exceptional dark chocolate coating I've ever had. As I said to my New York friends: "This ain't no Carvel Brown Bonnet!" 10 minutes later I was still (literally) chipping my way through the chocolate and ice cream, savoring every mouthful. Took a lot of effort to find our way here. But finally it may have been worth it. The soft serve vanilla was good and not icey at all. The dipped flavor i chose was dark chocolate and it was a very good solid coat of dark chocolate that didnt break up like some of the brittle thin coatings at a cheap place do. Not much to say other than I liked it and will come here again if I am in the vicinity. Hard to find if you get off the ferryfrom QC to Levis because that damn Cote Du Passage road signs are not clear until you actually get within a block of Ave Begin. Once you get off the Levis ferry, take a right onto the road, and then stay on the left fork as it slopesaround the curve steeply upwards. Once you traverse the steep curve, you will encounter an intersection with two parallel roads on your right. Take the second of the roads (the sign I think said Rue henry even though you are supposed to remain on Cote Du Passage, but I did not find the correct sign, and so we ended up taking a chance eventually and walking up that road.). Avenue Begin was a couple of blocks up the slope. THen the shop was a couple of blocks away. read more

This bustling little candy shop at the top of the giant hill above the ferry is fun because of the crowds--it's clearly a neighborhood gem--and it's worth visiting just because of the dipped cones. They dip their mild soft serve in any one of the dozen or so flavored chocolate options. We shared an orange-flavored-dark-chocolate dipped cone and enjoyed every bite. They have lots of gelato options too, with a really interesting pricing structure! The first scoop is like $4, but all subsequent scoops are only like $0.50 (if memory serves). We recently stayed in Lévis, not more than a few minutes walk from Chocolats Favoris. We noticed the shop the first night, but our girls were tired and the lines were long. We later regretted this decision after finally making it on our last night in town (and again right when they opened the next morning). The line is worth the wait!! Who knew a chocolate dipped cone could be this delicious?! There are 12 amazing flavors to choose from (along with extra toppings- although the dip itself is truly enough). Between the four of us we sampled S'mores, Salted Caramel, chocolate hazelnut, dark chocolate and orange, and white chocolate. It's difficult to pick a favorite as they were all fantastic. The chocolate hardens on top of the soft serve and is thick, almost as thick as a candy bar. The chocolate and ice cream are rich, so a small sized cone was plenty. I would love for Chocolats Favoris to consider opening in the US. The ice cream shops near our home truly pale in comparison. read more
