5 piece chocolate box, dark chocolate truffles, pistachio cardamom chocolate bar

Best chocolate store in Berkeley by far! All of the creations are so decadent and unique. I love coming here for any gift I need to buy. Not to mention the owner and staff are really sweet! (Photo taken elsewhere after the gift was opened)

I made gifts with their spectacular chocolate!

The chocolate here is incredible! The owners are so exceptionally nice. How they don't have a Michelin star is beyond me. I love how they make heart shapes, especially around Valentine's Day, almost everything is heart shape. Incredible!! The whiskey and passion fruit caramel is exquisite.

Walking by and decided to stop in for a treat. The chocolate is high quality and tastes great. Staff was friendly and gave us a sample to try. Cute, local shop. I'd come back and try some other yummy treats!

Bit pricier for gift boxes, but chocolates LOOK BEAUTIFUL and FLAVORS ARE EXQUISITE. Gift boxes can be picked and are assembled and wrapped right in front of you. The chocolate varieties (i.e. pistachio praline, blueberry) are simple but seem to have an incredible amount of thought and consideration behind each one. Called and came in a touch after the 6pm closing time. Exceptional service and wonderful vibe, gentleman assembling the gift boxes was very sweet and even offered us each a sample. Both the blueberry and mango chocolates we were given as samples had subtle but exquisite fruit flavors. Chocolates look beautiful and make for wonderful gifts for special occasions. Will definitely return for gifts in the future.

Came for a nice box of chocolates for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day and was not disappointed. It's exactly what I was looking for. I came here for beautiful artisanal chocolates and feel that they delivered. Chris, the owner, offered me a sample of the mimosa. Soft shell, and ooey gooey ganache filling -- so delish. His favorite was the passion fruit caramel, and I can tell why! As someone who has worked in the chocolate/candy industry, the prices are very reasonable per truffle. I believe in supporting local businesses and call me crazy but my chocolate tastes prefer this over See's or Godiva any day. You're paying for art, supporting a local business and they taste great!

Received a box as a holiday gift! They're almost too pretty to eat Some yummy ones I tried so far -- hazelnut, PB&J, and tangerine! Hazelnut might be my favorite so far with the hazelnut and praline filling. The PB&J is a unique twist on a classic childhood flavor. Tangerine flavor was sweet yet bright! Can't wait to try the others. The box of chocolates was delivered to my house in a solid box. It had a little bow around the box and a small handwritten note with a message from my manager. I'm inspired to also send these out for gifts as well!

We came to this little chocolate shop after lunch at Rose Pizza and it was such a nice experience! First of all, the owner is fantastic and offered us samples. The chocolates are really amazing and we immediately knew we were going to leave with most of the flavors after trying just a sample. I really liked the caramel, the sage honey and the yuzu habanero. All of the chocolates are also beautifully crafted and so intricate. These would make a really special local gift for a birthday or holidays. Can't wait to return!

With a focus on classical flavors, Chocolaterie's team crafts each piece with the utmost care, ensuring a perfect balance of nuanced flavors that beautifully complement the richness of the chocolate itself. There was a WIDE variety of chocolate to choose from including passion fruit caramel, mango chile, and even a selection of rotating season options. Take a look at the photos, the chocolates all look so BEAUTIFUL. Exceptional quality of delicate gourmet chocolate with interesting flavors! There was 1 staff working and she was super nice and friendly. She even had a pile of chocolate that was not perfect and she gave 1 out to each customer as a sample as they were ordering. I will definitely come here again to try more of their chocolate creations!

Was looking for a local shop to buy artisanal chocolate for Valentine's day and Chocolaterie fit the bill. It's located in downtown Berkeley so parking can be a little difficult. The chocolates here are so colorful and beautiful. I also really enjoyed the unique artisanal chocolate flavors. My favorite was the lychee lavender. The subtle fruity and floral flavor worked well with the chocolate. The chocolates here make a wonderful gift and I'll definitely be back!

A second shop on Fourth Street, featuring exquisite gelatos as well. The peach and concord grape taste of summer and fall.

Love the concept and the 80s styling on the chocolates, but for me the flavors were too subtle.

For those who don't know what the Dubai chocolates are, they are milk chocolates filled with shredded phyllo dough and pistachio cream. My first impression was whether or not I had walked into an art gallery or a confectionary shop. Uh...turns out both! According to their website, the owner and her partner were originally artists prior to becoming chocolatiers. This place just screams creativity and their chocolates are ethically-sourced and almost too pretty to eat. They even have a backroom gallery to showcase local artists' confectionary-inspired works. We couldn't find the Dubai chocolates, but one of the employees approached us and asked if we needed any assistance. Turns out they were in the back and they had just received a shipment! The Dubai chocolates were nutty, crunchy, flaky, and velvety all in one! Pricey, but worth trying. Also, might I just take a moment to say I absolutely adore the shop's name! It almost looks like "XO Chocolate" as in kisses and hugs, bu also reminded me of the language of the ancient Latin American civilizations and - fun fact - Xocolatl (you see the play on words?) means chocolate (literally means "bitter water") back when they would mix purely cocoa and water as a drink. If I'm not mistaken, this business is Latina-owned, so perhaps that was intention? So clever and, either way, kudos to them!

Packed inside this small space was an amazing array of candies. Felt like museum; candy store and art gallery mixed into one. Amazing displays. Great local sweets. Friendly staff. We originally went to the location near Union Square, thinking we'd be able to grab pastries and hot chocolate, only to realize it's primarily a retail shop with chocolate bars and merchandise. We ended up making our way to the Valencia Street location, and I'm so glad we did. We learned that it used to be the original factory before they outgrew the space. Production has since moved a few blocks away, and now this location offers classes, a café, and plenty of chocolate treats. While we were there, a chocolate-making class was in session, and it was fun to watch part of it. The instructor even came over to chat with us and answer a few questions, which was such a nice personal touch. We ordered the brownie bite flight along with a hot chocolate, and both were fantastic. The brownie flight was rich, flavorful, and a fun way to sample different chocolates. The hot chocolate came with a tiny cookie that was absolutely delicious. At first, we were a little disappointed because we thought our hot chocolate was supposed to come with a marshmallow and didn't see one. When we mentioned it, the instructor smiled and showed us a toppings station we had completely missed. There were homemade marshmallows, flavored sugar cubes, and other little extras you could add yourself. He even encouraged us to take a few extra marshmallows, and they were some of the best I've ever had. One thing to know before you go is that Dandelion Chocolate focuses on high-quality chocolate that isn't overly sweet. If you're expecting the sugary milk chocolate flavor of a candy bar, this is a different experience. The chocolate has a richer, more complex flavor, and we really enjoyed trying something different. Between the friendly staff, delicious treats, and unique experience, I'd definitely recommend adding it to your itinerary--just make sure you head to the café location if you're looking for food and drinks!
