The one drink minimum is not a deterrent for us, and the food specials were varied and a good value. We were seated outside as the weather was cooperative, even for the hot first week of August. I ordered the sangria, a large fruity boozy concoction with an orange wedge garnish. Husband had a draft beer, an affordable choice most places. I started with the watermelon gazpacho, and loved the flavors and textures. Next was the peaches and burrata, to which I added a side of chicken breast. Creamy cheese swimming in lots of pesto, it included only three slices of grilled peach. It was lovely and I wanted more. I especially enjoyed the chopped pistachio topping. The chicken was a large portion, grilled on the flat grill then sliced. A little plain, but necessary protein. Husband ordered the ravioli, which came with fresh tomatoes, pine nuts and basil. He really enjoyed this dish, even though he requested it without the corn I would have consumed. It had a nice sprinkle of finely grated Parmesan and a puddle of olive oil. We didn't save room for dessert, and don't recall all the specifics of the table service. But I remember the delicious food and would happily return!

Everyone was genuinely friendly and attentive, making us feel well cared for without it being over the top. What I especially appreciated was how relaxed the atmosphere was for a Sunday brunch. It wasn't crowded or noisy, so we could really sit back, savor our food, and have a good chat. We had a reservation, though it seemed like walk-ins would be perfectly fine too. After brunch, we asked if we could move outside for dessert, and they were very accommodating. Sitting on the patio on a warm Portland summer day with coffee and a Papa Haydn dessert made for the perfect ending. Great food, friendly service, and that cozy neighborhood Portland vibe. We're definitely coming back! The crab omelet was delicious, the coffee hit the spot, and the dessert was fantastic.

We are typically brunch people, making it here most often on a Saturday or Sunday for a late brunch. Their benedicts are to die for... truly, they're all wonderful. Their Laser Potato is out of this world. Truly, my favorite item on their menu. It is fabulous in all ways. I often take a side of it home just to enjoy later. We recently tried them for dinner. Their muscles are OUT OF THIS WORLD. Truly, the best I've ever had. This beats living in the southeast on the coast, any west-coast seafood restaurant, and every place I've ever enjoyed in Italy. They've certainly topped the muscle game. Highly recommend Olympic Provisions. I will gladly vouch that the negative reviews are from the haters, just to hate. The overall experience has never been anything less than fantastic. Photos to follow (hopefully, if I can find them! HA!) Enjoy OP next time you're in PDX!

I love Pix, both old school and post-COVID iterations…read more Back in the day PIX was for late nights, and honestly I don't really know what their actual schedule is now. They're essentially 24/7 because during Covid they made the incredibly bizarre and ingenious move to put their insanely beautiful patisserie in old school slot-style cafeteria vending machines. So during isolation one could run out in your mask and gloves, stay six feet away from the person behind you, and yank open any door to reveal an amazing little dessert behind each one. It was a taste of restaurants (professional desserts!!!) that we all missed so much. But it wasn't a gimmick that went away like the closed bubble dining pods. The cafeteria vending machines have stayed. I've picked up multiple different styles to have lots of dessert options at a birthday, I've stopped there in the middle of the night for an after-hospital cheering up, it's basically made for wandering over after making love any time of day or night. They somehow stay beautiful, fresh, and delicious in this little gimmicky machine. It's fun, whimsical, and I think some of the best patisserie in town.

I stopped in mid afternoon on a weekday, so it was pretty quiet, which meant I had free run of the place to poke around and also try to figure out how the vending machine machines worked. Fortunately, all I had to do was actually read the posted directions and voilà, dessert! I was surprised by the price at first, but can't deny and it was a high-quality dessert. I tried the hazelnut chocolate mousse cake which had a name that I've completely forgotten now of course! It took me a while to find it while I was there, but there is a menu on a table that describes what each of the desserts are, since they are only identified by name in the vending machine.

A Little Neighborhood Gem Worth Finding!…read more While visiting Oregon, my friend and I decided to make a quick stop at Loretta Jean's Pie Shop, and I'm so glad we did! First off, this is one of those places where you'll probably need to find parking on a side street and walk a little, but trust me, it's worth it! The shop is tucked right into a neighborhood, and it has such a cute, cozy feel. It honestly reminded me of someone taking Grandma's old kitchen and turning it into a little diner. There's a counter, a rotating pie display case, and plenty of baked goodies to tempt you, but obviously the pies are the stars of the show! I decided to try a slice of salted honey pie, while my friend ordered the banana cream pie. Now, I'd never had salted honey pie before, and WOW! I really enjoyed it! It had such a wonderful flavor that I actually left wanting to try baking one myself. My friend let me taste her banana cream pie, and the best way I can describe it is like eating a banana cloud! The cream practically melted in my mouth, and it had that lovely banana flavor without being overpowering. It was delicious! The prices were reasonable, especially considering the portions. These aren't tiny little slices of pie. They're generous, tall slices that actually feel worth what you're paying. They also have sodas and water available if you want something to drink. The shop was a little crowded when we visited, but honestly, I can understand why! You might have to wait in line or wait for a table, but you can also take your pie to go. There's some outdoor seating as well, which is a nice option. We stopped in for what was supposed to be a quick snack, and it turned out to be one of those little places I'm really glad we discovered. Cute atmosphere, delicious pie, generous portions, and reasonable prices. I would absolutely go back again! If you're in the area and love pie, this little neighborhood gem is worth a stop!

I've heard about Lauretta Jean's pies for quite some time but have never actually made it inside to get me some and when I finally did make it in, it wasn't pie that I ordered. Overwhelmed by the fabulous display of baked goods that erupted in my face as I entered through the door, I did the one thing I said to myself I wasn't going to do - I ordered something other than pie. Ok, well now, I guess I just have to go back because I know there's some pie there calling my name. Cute and adorable, Lauretta Jean's is all it's reputation makes it out to be. Service was friendly and came with a smile. Ordering my chocolate cream puff was easy and quick, even with a short line ahead of me, and I downed that delectable treat so fast it made my head spin. I wish I'd gone back and gotten some pie as well but hey, you know that just means I have to return. Check out some of the kinds of pies: salted honey, lemon chess, chocolate honeycomb, tart cherry and more. As well as pies, there were brownies, cookies, scones, biscuits, rugalach and more fabulous items filling the display case. Quick - go get you some! And have an espresso to top it off! You won't be disappointed.

Hubs & I shared the Beecher's & Brie Brulee and The Cheese & Crack Sundae. The Beecher's & Brie Brulee was honestly very good and shareable for 2 people. I've been a bit obsessed with brulee cheese since having it in Italy, but rarely see it anywhere so I was excited to see it here! And it was delish. Like an adult's lunchables, you can build your own sweet or salty or savory bite! Yum! The Cheese & Crack Sundae was delicious Vanilla Soft-Serve with a chocolate ganache and toasted marshmallow that make it like a s'more ice cream sundae. Really loved it, as it was *not to sweet* and I loved the toasted marshmallow bites. Service was fairly quick. They have one unisex restroom that was fairly clean. The cones are $4 and you have the option to add flavored "dust" such as espresso, matcha, beet, and malt. My wife chose the malt dust with an added chocolate cowboy hat. She was very pleased with, but found the ganache at the bottom of the cone entirely too rich. Each cone offers a large amount of ice cream, and there did not appear to be sizes, but all in all, a very instagrammable and delicious cone. I opted for the banana pudding sundae, which consisted of the vanilla soft service and banana pudding topped with two Nilla wafers. I do this this could be a bit improved by adding Nilla wafers throughought the cup, but it was creamy and satisfied the sweet tooth nonethless. The indoor space was cozy with a few seats either facing the kitchen or the window. There's also an outdoor platform that most people opted for since the line really made inside feel crowded. Staff was friendly and delivered orders accurately in spite of crowds. I would love to return to cheese plates and/or the brie & marionberry sammy. Would 100% recommend if you're looking for a sweet treat with both traditional and more creative flavor profiles.
