I'm also a big fan of Alaska Airlines overall -- they're consistently outstanding, and they take great care of me as a regular passenger. That little chocolate is just one of those thoughtful touches that makes flying with them feel human. On a recent round‑trip flight to California, I was pleasantly surprised on the outbound leg to receive a new chocolate bar from a different maker. Even better, the company was based in Portland, Oregon. The chocolate itself was excellent -- rich, dark, and memorable enough that I found myself thinking about it days later. As a sucker for dark chocolate, this one really stood out. On the return flight home to Portland, I was especially excited to see that bar again. Anyone who flies often knows that sometimes the chocolates don't make it down the aisle -- weather, turbulence, or the occasional oversight. But the weather was perfect, and I was quietly confident. Shortly after takeoff, however, there was a medical emergency on board. Thankfully, a doctor was available, and the Alaska Airlines crew handled the situation with calm, professionalism, and genuine care. For the next two and a half hours, a passenger received medical attention in the middle of the aisle. While I was sincerely concerned for their well‑being, I'll admit -- selfishly -- that I was also thinking about that chocolate bar. What stuck with me most was seeing firsthand how well Alaska Airlines handles a real‑life emergency: calm, cool, collected, and attentive. It was oddly comforting. If someday that person in the aisle is me, my future self will be a little calmer knowing I'm in the hands of true professionals. Fast forward to today: Ranger Chocolate Company heard about my story, and a bar arrived at my door. The world is right again. This is tucked away in a mixed use building so it took a lap for us to find it but the vibe is chill and it felt clean. The service was okay, we weren't proactively greeted or offered any info on the chocolate like some other reviews mention but it wasn't a dealbreaker, just not ideal. We bought a few bars to take home and enjoy and were glad to support a local spot.

It blows my mind that some Asian foods, like ube, are mainstream now. I grew up eating ube, so I got really excited to find this gem here. I got two scoops--cherry chocolate cheesecake and blackberry lemon bar--in a cup. My daughter went for her favorite chocolate brownie with sprinkles and chocolate chips. My husband got two scoops--rose water cardamom and salted peanut butter brittle--in a cup. The scoops are big and the flavors are so good! We stopped in here after playing a round at the Wonderwood Mini Golf. It had been hot and cramped and we really needed a drink. The door was being held open by a line of people and usually that is a great sign. Being busy is awesome for the business and I am glad they are so popular. It was a weekday, probably around 11 am and there were just so many people in line. It was really cute inside but SO chaotic. There were tons of kids screaming and at times it was difficult to tell where the line really was. After about 5 minutes of the line not moving, I started to get a slight headache from the noise and we agreed we would have to go somewhere else. It was probably for the best as all the indoor and outdoor seating was full so there would have been nowhere for us to eat even if we had braved the line. I think when a business reaches this level of popularity, it's important to put systems in place to keep patrons from feeling crowded and overwhelmed and it's definitely something they might want to look into in the future.
