The iconic shop opened in 1939 and all the candy is homemade. I'm not sure if "homemade" means they make everything in store, but you can watch them make some of the candies when you visit the store. Besides candy, they also sell locally made jams and other gift products. Anyhow, who can resist fresh licorice. Not me. I would have had some chocolate, too, but the lines were too long. They had the biggest selection of taffy with all kinds of flavors you could bag yourself. All you can get at the other candy stores are preboxed ones with assorted flavors you may or may not like. Was so sad to see it went out of business a few years ago to be replaced by a stupid Chocolate Monkey store which there are already plenty of. It's always sad when favorite stores you've gone to for years like this one close and are gone for good.
