Further down the downtown strip in the Ober Gatlinburg attraction, this candy shop offers several options for candy, taffy, jams & jellies and caramel apples. My son got a plain caramel apple for only $4. Taffy can be purchased boxed or you can select your own flavors and purchase by the pound.

The bright colors in the windows definitely attract kids. The shop was filled and loud with Spring Breakers (proverbial kids in a candy shop). The clerks were busy filling orders. The iconic shop opened in 1939 and all the candy is homemade. I'm not sure if "homemade" means they make everything in store, but you can watch them make some of the candies when you visit the store. Besides candy, they also sell locally made jams and other gift products. Anyhow, who can resist fresh licorice. Not me. I would have had some chocolate, too, but the lines were too long. Love this local candy shop! Parking is a bear! Good luck. We rode in on the trolley so we didn't have to deal with parking.

I LOVE this place and would have given 5 stars except they stopped the mail order service…read more I live in Michigan, they are in Tennessee, 8.5 hour drive. They have the absolute best butterscotch candy I have ever had. I would order about 10 bags at a time. Then suddenly, they stopped mailing service. I understand like chocolate or ones that may melt, but why not hard candy??? I asked for an exception and was told, it's a nice drive. Wow. New owners probably don't know I was told that. But maybe they do. What a shame!
