Although our order was not 100% accurate, the food itself was great. My avocado toast had egg, radish, olive oil, lime and some seasoning on top on sourdough. I had never had that combination, but I LOVED it. The avocado was fresh (unlike the black one I got at Culture Coffee). I tried the banana bread latte and it was delicious -not overly sweet. The ambiance is nice. There is upstairs, downstairs, and outdoor seating. The staff was really nice. I will be coming back.

Pretty cool ambiance. Service is great. Haven't tried the food yet. I've been to their Sacramento locations and never complained. This will be a great replacement for Preservation coffee and tea.

Honey latte, tiramisu latte, and an iced mocha - we enjoyed all three!

We decided to take our coffee adventure to this new coffee shop in downtown Modesto! (A coffee adventure is when you travel to a new coffee shop and try something new with your faves) We all really enjoyed our drink choices, the service was friendly and timely, and the vibes were great! It's very clean and they've got a great spot in the heart of downtown.

I want to say they almost got it just like my small hometown tortas in Mexico . The pepper jack cheese and mayo tossed it off track . Get rid of the melted cheese and use crema Mexicana and it will be more up my alley. With that said it's still super yummy . It was served with a side of white sauce . I still don't know what it was . It tasted like mayo mixed with something else . 4 for the torta! I also went with a shaken brown sugar espresso it was a tad bit on the bland side but tasted refreshing enough. 3 . Service was decent . Straight to business and I totally prefer it that way . There was a simple greeting and then the order . I did have to clean my table before I sat down and there were other clean tables but I wanted the corner one . 3 min after I sat down the other tables were being wiped down so they are on top of the cleaning ! What I did not like was that it was stuffy inside . Possibly an AC issue .

When I first went to Con Azucar around last year, the food, drinks, and service were actually…read morereally good. Everything was timely, professional, and enjoyable. Unfortunately, it seems like the quality of the service has really deteriorated over the past year. I went in on Sunday, May 10, 2026 around 7:30 PM just wanting to order two drinks and a sandwich. There were already customers ahead of me, and it took over 10 minutes just for them to finish taking those orders. By the time I finally got to the register and tried to order, I was told they couldn't make the sandwich because they had already turned off the stove. That honestly made no sense to me. If the restaurant is still open and there are customers still inside waiting to order, it should be expected that people are going to order food and drinks because that is literally the point of the restaurant. What made it worse is that they never announced any kind of "last call" or warned customers that the kitchen was shutting down. That felt really unprofessional and not something I experienced there before. We still ordered two drinks: an horchata and a chai with oat milk. The horchata was fine, but the chai was made incorrectly with almond milk instead of oat milk, and it tasted extremely bitter and bad. Since it was so close to closing time by then, we couldn't realistically go back in to have it corrected. So overall, we drove out there expecting food and drinks, and ended up with no sandwich, one decent drink, and one bad drink that was made incorrectly. It feels like the professionalism and customer service have gone downhill. In my opinion, it shouldn't matter what time customers come in as long as the business is still open because the service and quality should remain consistent. Response to owner: Thank you for the response and for offering to replace the drink. I do appreciate that. However, I still feel like the situation could have been handled much better. Before even coming into the café, I was trying to place the exact sandwich and drink order through DoorDash and the app was still allowing the order to go through. Because of that, there was no indication anywhere that hot food orders had already stopped for the night. If ovens are routinely shut down early, I really think customers should be clearly informed either online, on DoorDash, or with an announcement inside the café. I also do not necessarily agree that this is standard across cafés. Other places that serve sandwiches and drinks, like Panera, still prepare food orders even 30 minutes to an hour before closing as long as they are still open. From a customer perspective, if a business is open and accepting orders, it is reasonable to expect the menu items being advertised are still available unless stated otherwise. My main frustration was not just the sandwich itself, but the overall experience. We waited in line for quite a while, were not informed ahead of time that food service had ended, and then one of the drinks was also made incorrectly. It just made the whole visit feel disorganized and disappointing compared to the good experiences I had there previously. I do appreciate the response and willingness to make things right, but I still think clearer communication and more consistency in service would help avoid situations like this for future customers.

Pure Grind Coffee and Juice Review…read more The wifey and I were downtown handling some business, and I was craving a good cup of coffee. You already know -- the wifey loves checking out new java spots. Happy wife, happy life, right? We walked into Pure Grind Coffee and Juice and were immediately greeted by some super-duper nice ladies behind the counter. Great vibes from the jump. They offered solid recommendations, which I always appreciate. I'm a mocha guy -- I like a little sweetness -- so I went with the mocha. The wifey ordered the banana matcha. Now listen... I am not a matcha man. (Sounds like the Village People -- macho macho man.) BUT... they garnish that cold drink with caramelized banana slices. Are you kidding me?! The moment that caramelized banana touched my lips -- I was hooked. Like a fish. And my mocha? Straight delicious. Smooth, perfectly balanced, and I didn't even need to add my usual sweetener. Bottom line: great service, creative drinks, and quality coffee. We are definitely coming back.

But also consider their drinks are a little sweeter but all the flavors make the drink what it is. So just ask for half sweet or extra shot of espresso. But the service was absolutely fantastic! Their selection of sweet pastries is the first thing that caught my eye everything in the display case looked fresh, inviting, and perfect for a quick treat. The pastry I chose had that ideal balance of flaky and soft, with just enough sweetness to pair with a warm drink. I ordered a hot chocolate to go with it, and it hit the spot. It was rich without being too heavy, creamy with a deep cocoa flavor, and served at the perfect temperature. It's the kind of drink that makes you slow down for a moment and actually enjoy it. I also tried one of their muffins, and it was a great addition to the visit. Moist, flavorful, and clearly baked with care the sort of classic coffee-house muffin that makes you want to come back and try the other flavors too. The Queen Bean Coffee House offers a comforting experience overall. With a little more attention to speed and atmosphere it would easily reach five stars, but as it stands, it's a lovely place to relax, enjoy something sweet, and sip on a warm cup of chocolate. I'll definitely be returning.

This is very disheartening to post, as I have frequently raved about this spot to my friends,…read morefamily, and colleagues, and have contributed many years of support to this local business. A friend and I ordered a bagel from another small business, as I have dietary restrictions that limit what I can eat. I thought it would be nice to enjoy a bagel and coffee from Queen Bean Coffee House and spend some time in the ambiance of the establishment. Unfortunately, I was wrong. As soon as we walked in, we were met with odd looks, looks of confusion and, quite frankly, judgment. We didn't think much of it, considering the current state of the country and the fact that many minority groups experience this regularly. We ordered two coffees, spent about $20, sat down, ate, and waited to enjoy our drinks. Shortly after, a man approached me in a very confrontational manner and said, "I'm the owner of this establishment. Don't you think it's rude that you're eating those big bagels in here?" I was shocked by both his tone and his approach toward two young women. I told him that he was being passive-aggressive and speaking in a belittling way. He continued to call us "rude" and said our behavior was disrespectful. This felt incredibly hypocritical, as the disrespectful tone came entirely from him. Not only was he confrontational, but he also attempted to push the "angry" and "loud" stereotype onto me. I am posting this not for him, but to bring awareness to other customers that no one should tolerate attitude or behavior from someone who does not accept them. People like him contribute to the division in this country. If this truly was about a bagel, he could have approached us quietly and respectfully, rather than embarrassing us, drawing attention from the entire restaurant, and making us feel judged, laughed at, and extremely uncomfortable. I am a big supporter of small businesses in Modesto, and I have spoken to many of them about this situation. Not a single one agreed with the owner's approach, tone, or behavior. I hope those who read this review understand that supporting this business means supporting harmful rhetoric that continues to divide our communities.
