This guy Jack really knows chocolate!! All kinds of varieties from all over the world -- by far the largest selection I have seen in any store in the Bay Area (and probably most of the world). Most of the chocolate here is serious, that means no garbage lecithins or cocoa butter or other additives, which as a chocolate purist is critical! I walked out with several bars, a few for family and a couple to sample on my own. Definitely planning to be back the next time I am in the area. This is a gem!

What happened to those who got the " Casa Sanchez" tattoo for free tacos for life when the 24th street restaurant is now closed down?

It seems the Dubai Chocolate is all the trend today ever since last year. There is a place which carries chocolate from all around the world including the Dubai chocolate . Here you will find not only chocolate from the Middle East you will find chocolate from Vietnam , Central America , South America , Philippines, Japan , Belgium , Mexico, Denmark, Africa , England, Sweden, Canada and of course my favorite country in the whole world the USA ( no tariffs). Inside Chocolate Covered looks like the visual map of San Francisco's landscape with pictures on printed candy containers boxes against the wall. I will see candy container boxes with the streets of San Francisco. These container boxes will have most of the San Francisco middle schools ( not junior high schools IYKYK) high schools , Colleges and Universities. The candy containers boxes also have lots of existing San Francisco restaurant staples like Tadich Grill , House of Nanking, North Beach Pizza, Momo's, Pasquale's Pizzeria, and Zuni Cafe. You will also find Grateful Jerry Garcia on one of these containers along with Joe Montana, Steph Curry and Buster Posey and other San Francisco sports figures. You also will find chocolate flavors like the Mango Menace , Espresso, Durian, and Thai Ice Tea. I feel the good neighborly vibes inside the store. Although dogs don't suppose to eat chocolates the store owner Jack gave a passing neighbor Heidi the poodle some dog treats. This is a good place to get a sweet treat and a customized candy container box gift for anyone . ""Discover " and "uncover" on 24th street at Chocolate Covered and find pictures on candy container boxes of places you eaten and places you went drinking and dancing in San Francisco as a "clubber" some candy containers box have street names others have the street "number". The candy's and chocolates with the container box are a good gift for any occasion for friends , father , cousin, "mother" , sister , "brother", or "Lover " a good gift for all four seasons including the Summer and you will find a sweet treat when you open the "box cover"

We flew through San Francisco on our way in to Napa for my birthday weekend. I had read about Chocolate Covered online and it was "on the way" so my husband kindly agreed to make a pit stop for me. The sheer quantity of options was pretty overwhelming but I told the owner what I liked and didn't like and he happily made some quick suggestions for me. I left with a tidy little haul and am looking forward to trying all of these new to me artisan chocolate brands.

I was delighted to find this little shop open on New Year's Eve during my time in the city. As soon as I stepped inside, I was captivated by the endless variety of chocolate bars and treats lining the walls, so many unique brands and origins, delectable combinations of flavors, and playful themes and wrappers. We purchased several different pieces... dark chocolate pecan turtles, bourbon barrel aged ritual chocolate, odd society wallflower gin & juniper kasama chocolate, siamaya durian milk chocolate bar, soma chocolatemaker minty bar (with dark milk chocolate), mooncake limited edition milk chocolate bar (with bunnies!), and the friendly and knowledgeable staff threw in a free bumblebee wrapped milk chocolate candy too. He also offered free samples while we were there, and gave great recommendations. The quality of these chocolates was noticeable as we indulged in the bourbon ritual bar and enjoyed the crunch of those pecan turtles. Can't eat them all at once, but I'm especially looking forward to trying the mint chocolate bar I got. Definitely an awesome spot for gourmet chocolate and gifts!

My friend and I just finished making candles across the street and needed to kill time while we waited for our candles to set. I saw this place and thought it would be cool to take a look around. My goodness, it was so awesome in there. From the tins on the walls that featured SF street names, to the various types of chocolate from literally all over the world, I didn't even know where to be begin! Let me start by saying, I am not a chocolate fan, but the owner put us on to this spicy chocolate nut mix that I had to buy two bags of. The only down side, there aren't samples readily displayed, so it's kind of if you know you know kind of place. Maybe if you ask the owner may supply a taste, we just didn't want to be a bother since we were casually browsing. If you need any type of chocolate I'm sure you can find it here. Experience 9/10!

Such a cute store! I went in on a Wednesday evening to pick up a gift for a friend moving out of town and the workers were so sweet! They were telling me the process of making the tins and how each one is handmade :) I ended up purchasing a time with the Golden Gate Bridge on it ($32 not including tax) and some toffee candy ($8.50 not including tax) and the total price was around $44 including tax. I would definitely recommend stopping by here as it's such a great place for getting gifts and chocolate for yourself or for friends!

This is the place to go for a large and unique selection of chocolate from all over the world. They manage to pack in a lot of product for such a small store. Do not come here expecting "supermarket" chocolate. I come here for high quality chocolates that I can't easily find elsewhere locally, such as Compartes chocolates. Compartes used to have an Aztec Jungle flavor I loved, but has been discontinued for years. But there's always something new to discover. That's why it's always fun to browse in this store, you never know what you will find. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=EQTaxi34okL9-BCvJwzJ-w&userid=isQotFiKU_S_TI4Qt4MtMQ

Stumbled upon this place while walking around and it turned out to be such a wonderful find! It's filled to the brim with amazing chocolates from all over the world with exciting flavors. It took so much willpower to only buy two bars! The walls are decorated with tin boxes (made by the owner!) that have streets of the city on them. The staff are very helpful and love how you can sample if they have a bar open. Can't wait to come back!

Stumbled upon this gem. If you like chocolates, you HAVE TO visit this place! Jack the owner is extremely knowledgeable about chocolate around the world! I walked in with a friend and asked for Hazelnut chocolate recommendations. Jack showed us what he have in the store and explained when're they're produced, dark/ milk chocolate, richness, sweetness...He was kind and sweet! Apparently I walked out with a bag of yummy chocolate. Oh! He also CUSTOMIZE chocolate tins! He has 2 different sizes. $24 for small, $30 for large. You can bring in an image and he can have it printed on the tin! Such a fun store! I'll for sure come back and order some holiday gifts!

Once upon a time my job was on 24th street upper DOLO. While dodging and avoiding the abundance of stroller moms in the neighborhood I discovered Chocolate Covered. The awesome SF street name tins and the A-Z selection of premier chocolates is unique. My favorite chocolate are the SPICY dark chocolate PISTACHIOS. $6 only for 3 oz + Jack , Is sweeter and is Chocolate covered too I walked in and bought $12 worth told to keep the $8 change. The person wouldn't accept my tip. Said to give it to someone else that needed it more. Tbh it's been a while since I heard that. I freaking melted inside Much respect and love for humanity Thank you Jack for keeping it real And for them good memories! Thank you for leading by example !

Are the cacao beans/chocolate sourced ethically and fair-trade?

The selection here is huge. So some are, some are not. The owner is wonderful about helping you find what you want.

Hi, does anyone know if this place sells fudge and if so, is it good?

Yes, we have John Kelly's Fudge which is amazing and comes in many flavors, from plain dark chocolate to bourbon, to habanero and raspberry and more 😄

Do they have dairy free truffles here?

I'm not sure if they do or not. I would call them. The owner is very nice.

I would go to corner candy store for each school to buy my favorite candies through my formative years. Candies were also part of celebrations in the Mission involving a piñata .As an adult you will see me at See's when I get a sweet tooth craving. There is a place which sells chocolate from Switzerland and the Philippines and if you are sour because it's Monday or just everyday of the week in SF you should visit a place called Giddy. On Spring stroll in my old school stomping grounds I walked on Noe street and landed on Market at Giddy. Inside it's a candy store with lots of variety of gummies and licorice along with some international chocolate from the Ecuador and the Philippines. What you will also find a lot of varieties of candies which are very sour like some in SF. You will find lots of sour fizzy chewy cherries along sour mango belts. You will also find the classic sour cherry balls and berry sour foamy and sour strawberry and lemon butterflies along with a favorite from Sweden known as Bubs which is a sour strawberry and lemons skull gummy. Giddy is a good place to get sweet or sour. Sour is how you "felt" on a Monday when the chocolate in your pocket on a hot day "melt" and the best way in the past how it was "dealt" is go grab for a sour "gummy cherry belt" On Market street there lots of places for foods I have "eaten"some want on a cheat day a place for some "cheatin" at a place with chocolate from Ecuador , Philippines and Switzerland which is a bit "sweeten" and some like it sour like the strawberry and lemon skulls called Bubs which are from "Sweden"

If you ever find yourself wandering the Haight with a sweet tooth, Candy's is the kind of place that reels you in with its polka-dot storefront and keeps you there with its sheer wall-to-wall candy magic. I popped in during an evening dog walk & it was game over. Inside, the shop bursts with color, rows of gummies, chocolates, and nostalgic treats that make you feel like you've stepped into a real-life candy playground. The selection is seriously impressive. Think sour watermelon slices, Swedish-style raspberry gummies, cola bottles, peach rings, rainbow belts, giant marshmallow twists, Haribo classics, and even fun themed candies like frogs, sharks, and gummy strawberries. Everything is neatly packaged and easy to browse, which makes it extremely dangerous for anyone prone to impulse snacking. Even my pup tried to "shop" the lower shelves -- apparently the scent of sugar is universally appealing. The staff is as sweet as the inventory. They greeted me right away, offered recommendations, and seemed genuinely excited about their collection. Prices feel reasonable for the neighborhood, especially given the variety and the care clearly put into stocking the shelves. She acknowledged that my reaction was understandable and apologized to me, and when she saw how upset I was, she kindly processed a refund, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, a big, tanned male employee handled this situation extremely poorly. I had already purchased two coffees and bakery items before continuing to browse. While looking around, I picked up a bag of chips but had no free hands, so I placed it on top of my very full bag, clearly visible at all times -- not inside it. At checkout, this employee aggressively accused me of putting the item in my bag and repeatedly insisted that he "saw it," despite the fact that it was never hidden and I was fully willing to pay. I calmly explained the situation multiple times, but he refused to listen and continued to accuse me of stealing. He never apologized and continued to push the accusation. Ultimately, I was so upset by how I was being treated that I requested a refund, which was handled politely by the female employee, not by him. Being accused of theft without evidence, especially after already making purchases, was humiliating. The way I was treated felt racially biased, discriminatory, and deeply disrespectful. Loss prevention does not justify treating a paying customer this way. This experience left me extremely uncomfortable and disappointed.
