PARKING: There's a small lot with parking. It's a little tight, but there are quite a few spaces considering it's tucked away behind a couple buildings so watch for it! AMBIANCE: The area where the cart is located is open and has a lot of seating including a bar area where you can get drinks like wine, beer, ciders. There are a few other carts here as well with some covered bench/table seating. People were super nice to let us sit and share their tables. SERVICE: The woman taking our orders was super friendly! Made it very easy to order, asked if we have any questions. The food did take like 10 minutes to come out but it was freshly grilled so it's totally worth the small wait. They gave us a little buzzer to let us know where our order was ready. FOOD: Fiesta Plate: Pork Belly, Ribs, Chicken: The grill on the chicken was fantastic. Perfect char and whatever sauce is on this chicken needs to be bottled up and sold. Sweet and grilled flavours were perfect. Pork belly was cooked well and I love the fatty portions so much. The rib was cooked well, went really well with their special sauce as well! The rice was so good too! Don't sleep on this starch because it was flavourful too! The dish came with a salad as well with their house made dressing which was creamy, had good sesame flavour, and the salad was NOT over dressed. The portions are pretty large too because my husband and I split one dish and tlwere thoroughly satisfied and full. The food looked great in the video, plus the owner seemed genuine and passionate. I'm in. I wasn't disappointed. My favorite thing was the chicken. Some of the better damn grilled chicken thighs I've had in my life. Nice texture and tenderness. Not quite juicy, but juicy is tough to get on the grill. The char and flavor was great though. Ultimately it was just very satisfying. A plate of that chicken with the rice, salad and perhaps a combo of a second meat hits the spot when you're hungry. The pork belly I wasn't quite as impressed with. I've had better. It was a little meaty; I could have used a fair amount more of that melt-y fat. I didn't get much if any "hard fat" though, which is good; I hate the texture of that. The rice was solid. Good texture. Not much flavor or seasoning on the rice itself, but it serves it's purpose as a compliment to the other flavors. The salad was fine. Pretty standard. I liked that creamy dressing and wish there was more. I thought it was a really nice compliment to an otherwise very heavy meal. The freshness and the texture. We're back at Chochu Local with a newbie! The two of us came on a sunny Sunday afternoon around noon. Church local still had some food left, which is great because they often sell out of here quick. The brother was manning the barbecue in the back and it looked like the owner had the day off which was really nice. They had two staff and they were getting orders done quickly. Even though they were out of the number of things and the Shrimp Things are now not on the menu, still absolutely worth coming. The food is really good! We ended up with the rib and chicken plate, which was perfect for two people to share. We got an extra sauce, which I highly recommend because it's plain delicious! Come here for a great food cart pod experience,plenty of seating, a nice beer menu, plenty of drinks, desserts, and it's dog friendly. I visited Chochu Local for dinner recently. The food cart pod that it was located in was nice. There were a lot of good food carts to choose from and a decent amount of tables. The service was very friendly. My boyfriend and I got two fiesta plates. One plate had the ribs and pork belly . The other plate had ribs and chicken. The pork belly ended up being the best meat in our opinion. It was crispy, moist, and tasty. The bbq sauce on the chicken was good. It was similar to teriyaki sauce. Ribs were blah unless you dipped them in them in the sauce. The salad was good. I liked the rice but I think it needed salt. Overall, it was a great experience and I'll have to come back to try some of their other food. read more

Once again PDX has some of THE BEST CHAMORRO food in the area (and I'm talking about in the PNW)! True to its roots and the island flavors I grew up enjoying! We have been longtime customers and fans of Chochu Local! We were sad when the previous Guam food truck (PDX671) had decided to close, but we were ecstatic when we found out that Chochu Local was opening up in it's place. Grateful that we'll still be able to get our Chamorro food fix in Portland. For those who don't know, "chochu" translates to "eat" in the Chamorro language. So when you visit, you "eat local" Chamorro food. Now let's talk about the grub! We just get the Fiesta Plate - with nods to the fiestas back on Guam. It's the complete meal (and it can easily feed 2 people, or one "husky" islander). Now the fiesta plate has red rice (a staple in Chamorro food), a salad (the sesame dressing is delicious and refreshing and one of my favorites), fina'denne (soy- and lemon or vinegar-based dipping sauce) and a choice of meats (chicken, porl belly, or ribs) - or you can get a combo of the meats, we just get all 3 cuz we roll like that! They also have Chamorro style empanada, kelaguen, lumpia, etc... All staples for a proper Chamorro fiesta! You're just missing the drunk uncles in the back! Lol! Wow so good. I've had Hawaiian bbq before but first time trying Guam food, similar I would say but a tad more BBQ-ey, and a bit more Filipino (lumpias). Also the rice is orange kinda Mexican style so more flavor. Their meats are ribs, pork belly & chicken. We went w/ the fiesta plate (2 meats) ribs and PB of course. Everything was succulent and w/ nice smoky flavor, grilled to order. They also had a tasty ponzu style sauce that complimented nicely for dipping the meat or drizzle on top. This is it baby. This is what it's all about: succulent meats Dude at the cart was super friendly and had a great energy. Wait for the order took a bit, possibly since I was there right when they opened, but was worth it. I ordered the three meat fiesta platter which came with pork belly, chicken thighs, and pork rib. The pork belly was perfectly crisp with melt-in-your-mouth fat. The chicken was soft, well seasoned, and had that charred flavor from being grilled to perfection. The rib was the weakest of the three but still strong. I appreciate that it was soft but wasn't falling off the bone (which is the correct level of cooked rib). I'll nitpick a bit and say it was a bit bland, at least relative to the other two meats, but sparks up when you add their signature finadenni (spicy garlic soy sauce - surprisingly good). All this complimented by some tasty red rice and a thoughtful salad. I think the dressing on it was a honey mustard type deal which added a bit of sweetness to a salty and savory dish. Portion sizes were definitely generous and fit the price which was $24 at time of review but they also have a chicken plate at $14 This place is a proper treat and easily somewhere I'd take an out-of-towner or a local. There's more for me to explore on their menu so this is 100% worth a revisit read more

The kelaguen is some of the best I've ever had, richness of the chicken and coconut, balanced with the tartness of the lemons. I LOVE the empanadas! Update!: well, today is now yesterday's tomorrow, so Miki and I went back for more! We had more ribs and also got the pork belly! Wow! The pork belly is huge chunks, meat on one side, crispy, crispy joy on the other and the wonder of pork belly fat between. Drool... so good! Whenever I go to the rose city carts for dinner - this is my first option. The family that runs the operation are very sweet and kind. The meat is grilled to order it looks like and plate prices are very affordable given the fact prices have gone up at a lot of places these days. My go to plate is the chicken rice combo. I always ask for the slightly spicy and savory sauce upon request. When placing the order, the food arrives in only a few minutes time then I get ready to dig in. I pour the sauce over the chicken and rice. The salad is refreshing and the tangy dressing is an bonus to the dish. I cut the chicken into more bites and then eat it with the special rice that is seasoned just right.
