Chocolate honeycomb crunch with extra chocolate mousse and wattleseed icecream instead of the original banana icecream.
Alexandra P.

I can see why people like this restaurant soo much, with the view of Sydney, being close to some of the greatest artwork and a celebrity chef menu. We were lucky to jag a table for three for Sunday lunch without a booking. It wasn't a window table, but good enough. Staff were running around attending to other patrons, yet attentive. The menu offers delicately crafted, seasonal produce until you get to the battered flathead with chips and tartare sauce. Of course no one wants to order fish and chips at a nice establishment, but I think most people are secretly longing for some hot chips and fish. The portion of this dish is big enough for two, possibly even three people to share. The other nibbles we shared were the garlic flathead with sea salt and rosemary which was light and not too garlicy that you needed a breath mint. The crispy chicken with papaya and red curry mayonnaise was Japanese inspired and reminded me of chicken karaage. Good sized chicken pieces and plenty of dipping sauce. I thought that I didn't have enough room for dessert, but when I saw it, it was instant mouth watering love. The honeycomb crunch with banana icecream was the only one I had eyes for. As I highly dislike banana's they added extra chocolate mousse and wattleseed icecream instead. That should have a frame around it in the gallery, because it was artfully crafted and displayed and of course tasted delicious! I don't think I'll be able to resist indulging myself when I'm next at the gallery.

Having experienced Chiswick at Woollahra, I was keen to try this one. Overall, I was very impressed! The food was delicious and the restaurant had a great relaxed buzz. Will be back!

Awesome Moran family lamb slow-roasted for 10 hrs and so beautiful you use a spoon. Our waitress recommended the perfect wine.

Of course, the panoramic views of Sydney Harbour is a constant reminder that you are not in fact in Colorado... but the contrast works well nevertheless. Summer Sundays seafood buffets are a must. How many prawns can one consume in a single sitting? Only one way to find out. There once were jet skis on offer for endless Harbour fun, until Bob Carr put a lid on them. Cheers Bob. We were forced to pay cash for the event which first off shows that there's some shady workings going on behind scenes. Any time someone ordered a drink they refused to let them see what they were charging....which happened to be the most expensive drinks I've found in Sydney. Everything was incredibly unorganized. The employees never knew what was actually going on and I could have created something better in my living room. Everything was makeshift and rushed. We didn't even get to pick what we ate. They just brought out some random dishes and threw them on the table. There were no actual classes for anything. The painting class was just a room with a curtain and they handed us a pen and piece of paper and gave us a few minutes to draw, there was only one pole for 15 girls to learn on, the cocktail making simply included giving us 4 shots of sugar water to put in a cup, and the stripping was a mediocre show of two guys. At the end of it they told us to leave the bar and come back in an hour. One girl accidentally forgot her jacket and the staff yelled at the bride for it. The whole event was such a scam.

Sydney had lost one of her raddest venues and a place renowned for putting on ace performances, plays, sales, exhibitions and just about anything else you can think of. It was making way for a bakery. Now, I'm all for baked goods, but Sydney can't afford to lose little gems like this that add something irreplaceable to the fabric of this damned fine city. Huzzah, then, that District 01 has risen - phoenix-like! - from the ashes of corporate suckitude and is reincarnated in Randle Lane, a small, clean alleyway near Central Station and the place is cooler than ever. HUZZAH I SAY. I attended the relaunch party last night and while there were canapes and live tunes and drinks what I really got excited about was the venue: a white-walled space ready to be transformed into whatever, whenever. A blank canvas waiting for imagination to recreate it into anything the user desires. Light globes hang low from the ceiling. Entry is up the stairs of a repurposed loading dock. And . . . there's just something about partying in a secret alleyway that makes me feel cooler than I probably (er, actually) am.

Down a little alleyway off a quiet street, there's a set of door with a sign on them that reads "District 01". Inside is a converted warehouse with white floors, walls and ceiling and a few stacks of white pallets. I was here for a Yelp event so the projector was beaming District 01 offers with intermittent Yelp logos. The night was fairly warm and humid but the venue remained cool enough even though it was packed with people. This is defo worth keeping in mind if you're an event coordinator/PR/marketing peep looking for cool, new venues for events.

The courtyard is a nice place to eat/drink if the sun is out. Inside is cosy without being overcrowded. Staff are friendly and attentive (though not always if you are in the courtyard). Pizza's are a naughty but amazing treat. Their "Alaskan King Crab Lingeullini with Chili, Lemon et al." is a great lunch main - though wasn't 'chili enough' for people I was dining with. I went for a brunch option and had their "Croque Monsieur" which can be summed up as a posh toasted cheese & ham sandwich. I was a little disappointed with the portion size, but loved every bite of it. A perfectly cooked brioche with melted cheese, ham and a hint of french mustard was extremely moreish. I was happy to wash it down with a large coffee. I would recommend stopping by and trying Mrs Sippy if you are in the Double bay area, though consider the weather if you are going to be outside/in the courtyard.

At first I thought it was a cafe but it turned out to be a bar. However I ended up ordering a pot of tea (though probably should have had a beer). Anyway, the place is really nice, and the pot that came out was also pretty cool. However the thing that really put me off this place was the service. In fact it doesn't matter how nice a place is, bad customer service pretty much destorys it. However, I'm still willing to give it another shot if I ever happen to be down this way again.

Poor thing, it must have felt like the Sword of Damocles was hanging over its head, vaiting und vaiting for me to finally try it out. Well, try it out I did, and in style - for a shooper spesh Valentine's Day degustation menu. We rocked up for the early session at 7pm and the place is small but just beautiful, really understated and relaxed and classy, like. Black, dim lighting, Old Master-style paintings on the wall, splendid crepuscular light coming in from the El Alamein fountain area outside, and barmen and wait staff garbed in demure black and dapper to the last. Upon arrival we were given glasses of Pommery Springtime Rose. The first plate was a jelly-topped pate served in a peel-back sardine can, with cornichons, fresh baguette and a deliciously smoky onion jam. The next was Lady Finger filo with minced duck, arancini and mushroom balls tinctured with truffle oil, and gravlax of cured ocean trout with a dark mustard seed sauce. Dessert was a cup of sensual peach-infused panacotta accompanied by rosewater-flavoured chocolates. Delightful all, and while they were small portions it was the perfect amount of food. Special shout-out (holler) to the staff, who were engaging and personal without being overbearing. Really, really, REALLY wanna go back to try their martinis, as this is their signature drink and they pour it in the Rule of Three - three ounces pours, three garnishes, three sips. And the do my all-time fave, a Filthy Dirty martini. Brine me up!

I stuck with a glass of wine, and we opted for a couple of nibbles. The sliders are VERY tiny and not really shareable in my opinion. Three of them would be literally three bites and you're done! The only fault was that it was pretty hot inside. This could have been because I was on a first date, but at one point I swear I felt a bead of sweat form on my forehead. Not cool. If you're in the cross and looking for a low-key place that probably won't be that crowded I would definitely recommend this joint!
