Interior behind bar
Lauren R.

This place was fine for a quick upscale lunch. Not sure it's worth the price, but I expected a higher cost by sticking close to shopping. We came in on a Friday around noon. When we first walked in it looked almost too nice to bring my five year old in (will she behave? Will we get dirty looks?) but once we were seated it actually didn't appear as fancy. I think maybe they spent most of their decorating budget around the front desk, because behind the bar it was much less imposing (though still nice and comfortable). Our server was friendly and attentive. My daughter's chicken strips were actually pretty good, with a nice seasoned breading. The fries and sweet potato tots were solid. I ordered the green chile burger and it was good, though too wet for my liking. I had hoped to save half for later but it was immediately soggy and I knew there was no way it would make it to the next day intact. Overall a nice place to charge up, but definitely overpriced for what it is.

The atmosphere was very nice, my table sat outside and enjoyed the cool nighttime weather, the food itself was just okay but for the hefty prices it's something to consider when going here. The service was excellent and we had no complaints.

I live in Fort Worth and visit my parents in the Lakeway/bee Cave area often and this is my favorite place to go to eat. It's pricey but I've never had anything there that wasn't worth the $$$. I've gone in for something as a simple as a drink and soup at the bar in the fall, spending time with myself and a book. To family dinners and friends lunches. I've tried the Ceviche, fried catfish, tortilla soup, pulled pork sandwich, the bacon glazed pork chop. Go for the bacon glazed pork chop! It's cooked perfectly, juicy, not dry, with a sticky caramelized flavor. The stone ground blue cornbread is definitely a table share and so sweet and fluffy. Will be back as always, thank y'all for the good food and good service.

Fries and cheeseburger

I was in the area with an 1 hr to kill before my appointment. I was craving a taco and found this restaurant on Yelp. Ironically, I ended up ordering a hamburger and fries. It just sounded good to me when I read the description. When the waitress brought out meal all I could say was "wow!" Substantial size and I *almost* finished it all. The fries were hot and seasoned perfectly. Service was great and attentive. Next time, I will try their tacos... maybe. The hamburger is just too good!

5 stars without a doubt! I'd consider rating them higher if it was possible. When the food is this fresh with such a delicious flavor profile it will leave a lasting impression. Everything was presented well and cooked to perfection. The service was excellent as well and the food came out relatively fast! The atmosphere is wonderful and their patio is dog friendly. I found the pricing to be reasonable for the quality and quantity. I was a bit surprised by the choice of sauce for the fire cracker shrimp being a buffalo style sauce, but it still tasted great! This is a restaurant I'll happily come back to!

We wanted something in the area that was dog friendly and they had a small patio for that. We came around dinner time and I was a little disappointed that no one offered my dog water. The reason for minus a star. I was full from lunch still so I ordered an appetizer. It was okay. Not something I was in a rush to finish. However, the menu did have creative options that I don't see anywhere else, so kudos to them.

We had Nueces chicken with jalapeño grits and brisket salad and all was tasty ample with excellent service. We pretty much had the restaurant to ourselves at 5pm but service was the best. Great experience

Texas fish with crab meat

Came to bee cave for dinner and this is a very nice Tex mex place with large and clean indoor seating and dog friendly patio. The food is very good at a reasonable price. The Texas red fish was in season so I tried that, it comes with a little crab meat on top in a chili sauce gives you some heat. The sweet potato is very crispy. Try their sampler for a starter while wait for your food. The service was good at the beginning but our waitress disappeared after 10mins and other waiter or waitress didn't care about our table at all. My water was empty for 30mins and no refill, and we finished our meals and no where to find our waitress to get bill, so in the end we found someone else to get the check after waited for at least 30mins.

Blue Cornbread- Delicious
Rolando N.

The food here is well prepared and simply delicious. The menu is an eclectic mix of southern comfort favorites with a distinct Southwest flair. Every dish was delicious. The Blue cornbread appetizer arrived warm and was divine. Fried catfish plate was delicious. They use a red chili tartar sauce that complimented the dish perfectly. The red fish was equally tasty. The Jalapeño cream sauce was not too spicy and really elevated the dish. Service was prompt, courteous and friendly.

Chicken fried chicken with the MOST amazing grits!

I had only been a handful of times after they moved to the other side of the Hill Country Galleria before Covid. I've always been a fan of the food, but always thought it was a bit on the pricey side for what you get. Enter approximately 7 months in, and I remembered Chisos' chicken fried chicken with the BEST grits I have EVER had. Just had to have it. After looking at their website, I did not see any options for online ordering and/or curbside. My first call went to voicemail, but was quickly returned. I was able to place an order and pay for it through the very nice bartender. 20 minutes later and my order was ready. While they do not have specified spots for curbside pickup, there are temp spots on the side of the building. Just call and a staff will happily bring the food to your car. All of it was just as good as I remember! Comfort food yes! And really great service. Thanks Chisos for scratching craving. Please remember to tip on to go orders. If you're able, 25% is just a tiny way to help out such hard hit service workers. :)

So $163.53 for 7 people is not the WORST PART! 1. flavorless food 2. waiter never returned to ask how we were doing... we just had to flag him down! 3. and... it's not like he was busy. There were only three or four tables occupied in the entire restaurant right at lunchtime! 4. waiter ASKED HOW MUCH TIP I wanted to add when he picked up my credit card to go run the tab. I said 20%, caught by surprise 5. Waiter added tip on $30 of to-go food... Tamales and chili con carne. Since when do you tip 20% on To go Food?? 6. Tea was $3.75 a glass...whaaaa??? 7. The pralines were $3.25 each 8. The Willie's Plate (yes, WN has been known to eat there 40 years ago) is now up to $16.40... 9. child's plate is $9.45! Yikes 10. AND THE ONE GOOD THING IS THAT THE TAMALES I TOOK TO HOME TO MY HUSBAND WERE GREAT!!! Praise given where praise is due! BOTTOM LINE: yes, Willie Nelson could afford this but otherwise I can see why there were only three tables occupied at 1 o'clock on Sunday! Also, when I called to ask about the $25 tip the guy had given himself, they hung up on me and didn't bother to call back-- if it was a technical problem. I will not go there again!!

The second time was when we brought my family who was visiting from out of town. Our waitress was gracious, kind, and patient the entire time, which we truly appreciated. Despite our big group of family, she handled everything with such grace and that was wonderful. The chips and salsa were a hit. The chips are thin and crispy, making them very easy to keep munching on before your food arrives and then suddenly you are already full. The main plates were average. I ended up returning what I originally ordered because it did not turn out as expected. I got the shrimp tacos instead and asked for no sauce, but they still came with sauce. My family seemed to enjoy their food, but no one had any standout or memorable comments about their dishes. Unfortunately, the food runner who brought out our plates seemed to be having a rough day. He was extremely rushed and slammed the dishes down very abruptly in front of my family and rushed away quickly. It was unusual and left us uncomfortable. We ended up asking our waitress to make sure he did not return to our table.

When they took over their current location (used to be a divish bar) in 2022, they really transformed the place into something special. Arguably one of the best patios in the Lake Travis area. Lots of choices of types of seating from standard tables and chairs to comfy sofas. Complete with a fire pit, full bar with TVs, lots of fans, QR code orfering and checkout an option...super chill, spacious, and inviting environment (especially since it's located directly off of busy 620). The inside is really large, including an oversized bar area seating. Offers a very nice dining option (or just for drinks), but if the weather's nice you'll "catch me outside." Don Mario has always offered traditional Mexican cuisine. If you're looking for boring Tex-Mex, you might be a little bit disappointed (albeit they do offer quesadillas, fajitas, flautas+ but kicked up a notch). Some of my personal favorites are the Mexican street tacos (seven different proteins to choose from), ceviche, albondigas, cóctel de camarones, and more; great chips and salsa. Another favorite is off menu, but it's just a basic refried bean and cheese burrito. Magically flavorful and they are not shy with the cheese, which is a very good thing in my book. A great inexpensive and indulgent option to get in protein for the day. Always receive very friendly and prompt service from both wait staff and kitchen. They're always amenable to any special requests, including creating off menu items as previously mentioned. If you're in the mood, they do serve some pretty tasty house frozen FRESH fruit margaritas (strawberry, pineapple, cucumber, or mango). They have a limited happy hour available Monday through Friday from 3-7pm. Save a buck is a buck is a buck. ;) Overall, sí por favor. :D ¡Salud!

So were the black beans and rice. I would order them again. You think we're done? Uh-uh.. Then came the mariachis!! The place is noisy as it is with a hard floor and large open space. Add 6 guys blasting brass, strings and Spanish at the top of their lungs and you'll get the jist. 165 dB would have been welcome. My water glass was spurting out the top. My hearing aids were feeding back. It almost felt like my last Rolling Stones concert in row 13. But, in all seriousity, everyone around me didn't seem to mind the noise, the music and the inability to communicate with anyone farther than 6" from you without having to yell. Having only been to a couple of Mexican restaurants in this area, I don't know if this is the standard or the exception. Stay tuned.

I have never had anything like this in my life, and it's something I crave several times a week. Stuffed Jalapeños - So good I sometimes order them as my entire meal. And the onion rings they're served on? Easily the best onion rings I've ever had anywhere. Beyond the food, the staff is absolutely amazing.
