Dr. Young is the second chiropractor I have seen. He is definitely a lot better than the first chiropractor I had seen first. The receptionist guy himself was really personable and patient with any questions regarding the practice and appointment setup. He offered refreshments while we were waiting. The meeting with Dr. Young went very smoothly. My husband accompanied me as well, and Dr. Young did not ignore him at the least. He recommended a few things to my husband on how to help me manage the pain I was experiencing. On the adjustments, he didn't just crack me and then tell us that's it for that visit. It definitely wasn't a quick stop visit type of adjustment like the first chiropractor I had seen! He spent quite a bit of time adjusting and educating. Dr. Young is fabulous! I'm a nursing student so I spend the majority of my time taking exams and running around the hospital for 12 hours twice a week which kills my lower back. After experiencing a gradual onset of pain in my right arm, mostly work-related, Dr. Young was able to gradually help reduce the pain to the point that as of this writing, it is virtually 90-95 percent gone. The various exercises he gave me to do at home have helped immensely. Dr. Young is very personable, professional and knowledgeable not only about chiropractic therapy but also nutrition and physical therapy. The 15 minute massage or laying on the roller table is always a welcome additional relief before the adjustment. Cindy, the message therapist is excellent. I struggled to write this review and I believe 3 stars is a fair grade. After seeing so many 5 star reviews, I scheduled an appointment and visited Dr. Shane Young on 9/27/16. Dr. Young is a good chiropractor, he is caring and experienced. He is sympathetic, patient, kind and tried to make my examination as painless and pleasant as possible. I have an injured shoulder from a car accident and he made some adjustments which made me feel better. He patiently explained things to me during the adjustments and my shoulder pain was decreased significantly. The reason for the average rating is below: 1) Administration - I have Blue Shield insurance and his firm is a network provider. I called to schedule the appointment, but was told they do not accept my insurance. I called Blue Shield, Blue Shield referred me back to Chirofit (Dr. Shane Young) as a network provider. After the run-around, I conferenced called Blue Shield and Chirofit on the phone, gave my HIPAA authorization to both and they worked it all out and I was told they will accept my insurance. I believe the admin person is not well trained on using the software to validate insurance. 2) HIPAA Compliance - Dr. Shane Young and I spoke for about 30 minutes. It's clear that he loves what he does, and he is a family man. He asked where I worked and I was intentionally vague. But my industry is specific and he asked me if I knew a co-worker by full name. I did know the person, and Dr. Young stated that my co-worker has been a patient of his for some time. I know Dr. Young was trying to be pleasant and build rapport with a new customer, but HIPAA specifically states that the privacy rule protects all individually identifiable health information whether electronic, paper or oral with a stipulation based on PHI (protected heath information) which can be used to identify an individual (eg. name, address, birth date, SSN). A doctor cannot disclose your full name to another patient. I think I can overlook one issue, but two issues on my first visit is a concern. I wish I could go back, but feel that I cannot ethically give my trust to his firm. If Dr. Shane Young reads this, I am sure you will learn from my experience and make the appropriate changes to your staff and with what you tell patients. To potential customers, I am sure Dr. Young will correct these issues and you should have a great experience with him and have no concerns. I know he is a good doctor that will put you at ease and provide excellent chiropractic services. If his admin staff gives you hard time on insurance - don't be afraid to push them back a little and conference call your insurance company to clear things up. Dr. Shane Young has adjusted me a number of times, and has thus far always been able to successfully heal my injuries without numerous repeat visits, which is rare for a Chiropractor, and always a good sign! I am a powerlifter, and routinely jack myself up from squatting 700+ pounds, and have had 8 surgeries. Shane (Dr. Young) also works out, and has some great deep-tissue / stretching / accupressure treatments he has used on me to work kinks out of muscles or just get my body back into fighting shape. Going to Chirofit has been an amazing experience so far. I recently got in a car accident and my neck and back became very sore, tight and painful as a result of it. I had been having pain in my lower back that trailed down the front of my leg for over a year. It had gotten to the point where it was too painful to sit down (not good when you sit at a desk all day). I have to admit the reason I never went to a chiropractor was that I didn't think they could help. Boy was I wrong. I called Dr. Young's office based on a recommendation from a co-worker and they were able to see me 45 minutes later. Dr. Young was patient and listened to my issues, explained to me the potential cause and treatment and immediately started the treatment. After my first appointment the pain was dramatically reduced. I saw him again the next day and proceeded to feel even better. I went back a week later (today) and I can genuinely say my back feels 100% better. I do not feel the slightest twinge of the pain I have lived with for so long. My range of movement is 100% and I no longer have to use furniture to help get up from a chair.
