I truly love the personalized care and focus on my multitude of issues that I have. They addressed all my issues and always asking me about my well-being during and after each excercise. I started going to therapy here for my De Quervain's tenosynovitis. I am a tradesman so my hands are how I put food on the table. When I first started my pain was 9 out of 10. I visited Forward Motion Physical Therapy after having spent the last 7 months struggling with a pull/pain in my tricep. I had not done PT in the past and honestly did not have high hopes that my pain could be pinpointed and corrected. I am so glad to have been proven wrong. Dr. Margarita Mancheva was my PT and she was fantastic. She assessed me and within 15 minutes pinpointed the problem to my rotator cuff. In 3 sessions, along with appropriate exercises over 6 weeks I feel amazing. I am able to get back to my workouts as I did before without having to hold back. I also love that the workouts are sent through an app, MedBridge Go, which make it so much easier to remember and follow. I have been in and out of physical therapy several times over the last 40 years. My UCLA sports medicine doctor recommended Forward Motion Physical Therapy at the Calabasas office. Wow! I hit the jackpot. Alex was my PT and Dave was my trainer. I have arthritic knee's related to age and years of sports. I thought my legs were strong based on playing tennis and walking. Not so. I wasn't using my leg muscles in a way that took some of the pain from my knees. After 10 sessions I have built up the strength that has reduced the pain and put me on a path to play better tennis at 82. I got really badly dumped on the sand by the surf on Bondi Beach in Australia. I didn't know at the time, but I had torn my rotator cuff and cartilage in my right shoulder. I didn't get it taken care of while I was there and ended up with excruciatingly painful frozen shoulder. I couldn't lift my arm above my waist. I got back to the US and the doctor said it was 50-50. I have been coming to Forward Motion for 5 months now. I was randomly assigned here, and I have been so happy with my treatment here. They are very clean with covid; they sanitize between patients, use gloves, hand sanitizer everywhere. Making appointments is very easy. They are open until 7, and I have made same day appointments as well. Mostly, I am so grateful for David. He has helped me through probably the toughest time of my life right now. The story begins in 2016 when I was in a near death car accident. My right foot and right knee was shattered. I had several cuts, bruises, and burns. After 2 surgeries and recovered in a hospital, I had to look for physical training to learn to walk again. 2017: I found Forward Motion. For 6-8 months I worked with the 2 co-owners and other staff members. It was a pleasant experience during my injury. Update, they misdiagnosed bulging discs as SI joint dysfunction, sending me down a rabbit hole of research and hopelessness that turns out not to be relevant to my injury. When I came in, I specifically asked if there was a chance of disc herniation and they said no. MRI months later (no other injuries) shows bulging L4/L5 and L5/S1, no SI inflammation detected. Getting old sux. Injuries just don't heal like they did when I was 12, but that's where Forward Motion comes into play. Dr. Berard and the team at Forward Motion are true professionals. Not only that, but the office has a youthful vibe, which can be hard to find these days. I sustained a severe high-ankle sprain playing basketball a few months ago. Originally, I thought I would be back to 100% after 1 month, with some light rehab. Well, at 30, those days are behind me. I ended up going to see Dr. Berard based on a friends recommendation. Initially, I thought he looked young, but immediately discovered he knows his stuff. After a week, I could feel my ankle getting progressively better. I was able to get back my full range of motion fairly quickly. In addition, Dr. Berard gave me some great recommendations to continue to strengthen my ankle and to help prevent future injuries. I play basketball, soccer, golf, cycling, etc. and I was surprised at how much Dr. Berard knew about playing all these different sports and how to avoid injuries in each. While obviously educated as a DPT, he also did a great job speaking in my language..."Layman's terms." Forward Motion isn't just about Physical Therapy, they also provide a great experience. Everyone is great to talk with, and Dr. Berard and I even chatted about Yasiel Puig's unique warmup and what Kobe will look like next year. I am not a PT expert, so I can't tell you if Dr. Berard was using the proper hand motions, but the results were great and it was a fun experience chatting with him and the staff. My daughter needed some physical therapy from a dance injury and this was one of the places on the list from her doc! Boy was I impressed! They worked with her to repair her injury and made sure she had exercises to do at home to prevent further damage! She was back on the dance floor in no time!
