Dr. Rumack-I've seen a few times over the years for different complaints. My friends and family go to him. I'm told that he is "who physicians go to." He is a wonderful doctor with a fun and casual manner That helps reduce my anxiety. His staff is great: Both front and back. Max, in the back is so helpful and always ready to help. I actually wanted to review POMA Physical Therapy group that is affiliated with Dr. Rumack. They are the best physical therapy I have ever had! It's low key, not splashy and glossy, but it's neat and clean with the best staff you'll ever find: Joe, Patti and Eulain are top notch. They truly care, remember your name, and design a regimen of exercises that you're comfortable with. It's the finest physical therapy as it should be: simple, well understood and well described. Joe and Patti will explain anything you want to know. I got a great deal out of my course of therapy and would recommend them without reservation. When I mentioned the glossy, showy places...I feel like they are all about music and TVs and wall art and the therapists talking to each other. (Hey....ok... ride that bike for 20 minutes!) I felt like they were more like a slick factory than a PT office. Come home to POMA. You won't be sorry. read more

I decided to give this Doctor and his office a second chance by going there a second time, even though the first time was not good, I had so much knee pain so I went, well this was another disaster I received a shot in my knee for the pain and not only the shot didn't help, my leg became so much worse, tried living messages for the Doctor and did not hear back from him or his office. I do not recommend this office or his staff, it's been a very difficult painful journey for me since August.. read more

I wanted to thank Monica for making my mom an appointment within a few days of my call. My mom (88 years old) was a new patient to the office with severe swelling in her knee.. This is a rarity to be given such attention. Dr Rumack was very kind to my mom and the visit was easy for her with his and Sam's care. Highly recommend this office. read more

Rude, disrespectful and put the wrong size hip in my husband. His hip fell out twice and had to call an ambulance twice. While my husband was in terrible pain from this doctor's mistakes, Dr. Rumack called my husband a drug addict and never apologized for his unprofessionalism. read more

I also wrote a review for Professional Orthopedics, which is the name of the practice that he's a part of. So here's my short story - I was jogging and fell in a pothole. My ankle was injured. I went to urgent care and they gave me the phone number of Professional Orthopedics. Looks like a couple other docs are in the practice too, and I got Rumack. I took my xrays with me, they weren't sufficient so he got more, and found a fracture. I also had torn/stretched tendons. I was in a boot and on crutches for a month or so. Also got an MRI, which showed more detail than the xrays did. I'd say he was a good doctor - he spent enough time with me at the first appointment. The second and final visit, I got referred to physical therapy but by then, the injury had more or less healed. I got a new ankle brace and he said I could stop using the boot. The physical therapy turned out to be a waste of time and I quit going after 2 sessions. Office staff was very helpful, as were nurse (her name escapes me now) and two medical assistants (Max and another guy whose name also escapes me but OMG they were both so cute and nurturing, I loved it!) I have chronically bad ankles, which I did mention to him - this fracture was to my right ankle and although I mentioned that my left one was also bad, he kinda dismissed it and said "don't worry about it" (literally if it's not broken, don't fix it!) It was nice that my insurance allowed me to go to Rumack. The ortho doc I went to a couple years ago for another injury shouldn't even be practicing, OMG. So this was a breath of fresh air. I'll be back for sure if I'm ever injured again. read more

Knee arthroscopy performed by Dr. Rumack for knee pain, which made my knee worse then before. I came to learn through research on my own that arthroscopic surgery for non-specific knee pain is no longer considered the thing to do and that it's only recommended when there is a specific traumatic injury, such as a tendon tear, etc. This was also confirmed by another doctor who said he would not have done surgery on me when I sought help from him due to my worse condition post-operative. In addition to worse pain, my knee feels more unstable than before. The knee cap pops in a creepy way if I extend my knee too straight. Dr. Rumack should not have recommended and performed surgery on me based on my medical symptoms and history. He was using obsolete diagnostic and treatment information that is not the current protocol in the orthopedic surgical field. It's unfortunate that I discovered this after I decided to let him do surgery. On a side note, his operative report was written horribly. I know that good doctors don't necessarily need to be good writers but it honestly seemed like an elementary school child wrote the report. Bottom line, Dr. Rumack is a mediocre doctor at best that doesn't employ the latest information in his field to his practice. This was 9 years ago so hopefully he's all caught up by now. read more

Bilateral Knee pain developed over time. Bone on bone with little cartilage (mri's, x-rays). After course of aspirations, steroid injections, PT, etc and considering age and activity level, opted for knee replacements- did total knee replacements late 2014 and mid 2015 by Dr Rumack at West Hills Hospital. Good recovery. Four years later, I hike climb and can even run (if I have to). Great office staff and one of the best knee surgeons in LA. read more

I went to the ER not long ago for a leg injury from a pretty bad fall. Dr. Rumack came into the ER room right After he came out of surgery with another patient. He explained that he saw my X-rays and let me know I would be needing surgery and that he fit me in for next day surgery. Thank Goodness! He was thorough in explaining what was broken and the procedure during surgery. He was truly caring and consoled me with his kindness and professionalism. The day of the surgery Dr Rumack again made sure I was aware of The procedure. He eased my mind. We chatted and laughed before my sugery which just made me appreciate him even more as well as took my mind off going under anesthesia . He is such a kind and understanding person. While in the OR I could see the comradery between him and his assisting surgical staff. You could tell that his staff respects him and gets along with him so well. You could tell that they really like working with Dr Rumack. He's honestly a cool guy and I loved seeing how everyone got along with each other. He is very down to earth and is very much liked and respected by his staff. This made me feel more at ease. During my follow-up appointment he made sure to inform me about what to expect during the healing process. He did amazing work and made minimal incisions so I would have little or no scarring. I'm am very impressed with the work he did. He was so precise. Also, his office staff loves him and speak very highly of him. He is so friendly and really cares about his patients. I hope I never break a bone again but if I do, Dr. Rumack would, hands down, be my Doctor again. He does beautiful work and is well worth the money. I Highly highly highly recommend him. read more

Nothing terrible but nothing special. I had broken the index finger on my right hand, and my internist recommended I see a hand specialist. The specialist I am familiar with at Southern California orthopedic Institute would be unavailable for two weeks. I looked on Yelp and was able to book an appointment with Dr. Rumack on short notice. First, the office was unable to locate paperwork which I had filled out and faxed it. Fortunately, I had the originals with me. After a reasonable wait, my finger was x-rayed and Dr. Rumack came in to see me. He looked at the x-rays & confirmed my finger was broken, and stated I needed to see a hand specialist. Apparently, Dr. Rumack is a general orthopedist only. I asked him for a referral and he said I could get one at the front desk. He then left the room quickly. His assistant gave me a large and bulky clip which I could fit over my finger. It was so restrictive and uncomfortable that I never wore it. I felt no personal connection with Dr. Rumack or anyone in his office. The best thing about my experience was that I was given a CD of my x-rays which I could take to the hand specialist. read more

I went to see Dr. Rumack for a knee pain, which was happening only when I would put my leg in a certain position as well as when going downstairs. Neither X-Ray no MRI revealed anything specific, so we decided to go for "exploratory" surgery. Dr. Rumack found what appeared to be a lose piece of cartridge, which he scraped off. He showed me the pictures taken during the surgery. Initially after the surgery I still had pain and thought that the effort failed, but apparently these things take time to heal. After about 3 months or so I was pain free. Thank you, Dr. Rumack! read more

Went to see Dr. Rumack to treat a knee pain. After a decent research on him and his practice, I have decided to give it a try and scheduled an appointment. I followed his treatment schedule for almost a year; starting from physical therapy through reducing my activity and taking experimental peels. Eventually when all methods failed to deliver, I went under the knife. As other users mentioned, the practice in which the operation was conducted, has financial ties with Dr. Rumack's practice; given this knowledge, I did not feel, at any point, pressed to do the surgery. Throughout my entire time with Dr. Rumack he was very nice and accommodating. He communicated well his approach and thoughts to me. The reason for the low rating is due to is inability to address my problem. I went to seek second opinion with a Dr. recommended by a friend. I was quite shocked to find that the other Dr. Dismissed the surgery and deemed it to be unnecessary pointing out that he would have loved to collect money for any surgery yet, he would not have done it given my history and condition. Though my story is not over, I wish to leave you, the reader, this limited yet informed review to be used as you see fit. read more

Dr. Rumack and his staff are really nice people. My visit was excellent and I was happy to hear that I did not have permanent damage or injury. Great doctor and not long wait times either. Highly recommend anyone with sports injuries or orthopedic issues to see this man, he's the real deal. AND...bonus is that he's not a "cutter", he works with other methods and uses surgery as a final option! read more

7 weeks out from the cortosone shot given to me by Doctor Rumack. The sickness is gone and I am not throwing up. I am able to exercise again. My blood pressure is another matter. I still have to take blood pressure medicine for the 1st time in my life. Listen when a patient tells you they had a bad reaction to cortosone, don't give that patient another shot. Very bad doctor. read more

Dr. Rumack diagnosed a medical issue I have, but that was the extent of it. He didn't provide any type of preventive suggestions or ideas. All he recommended was that I use their physical therapy department, which I found to be substandard after two visits. About 13 years ago I was in a motorcycle accident and compound fractured my femer. I was brought into the ER and Dr. Rumack offered to my take my surgery on. It was at the end of his shift and the surgery took 4 hours. Due to that severity of my injury, recovery took a few procedures to correct my compound fracture. Each procedure went perfectly and was back to my extreme self again. Couldn't thank Dr. Rumack enough for the great job. Got about 99% mobility back. Thanks Dr. Rumack read more

Dr, Rumack is a marvelous surgeon; his staff is superb, and my results were tops. B ack on the golf course!!!

This doctor should not be considered a Sports Medicine doctor. He did have any interested in fixing the injury to get me back to my active lifestyle. I had an injury that requires surgery and he stated that he would not be necessary. The tear would heal and re-attach which is a blatant lie. If I had the surgery within two to three weeks of the injury, I would be fine. Now I have a greater chance of surgery not be as successful. Dr. Rumack is a terrible doctor. read more

We were very unhappy with the professionalism used by Dr. Rumack and his staff. My son started with Dr. Rumack because of an injury to his throwing arm from baseball. He took xrays which showed no separation of his bone in the elbow and suggested a cast and a brace. We did that and rested his arm for 3 to 4 months as requested. Due to some lingering pain my client who is a physical therapist suggested I see him as he has worked with many pitchers. We called dr. Rumach and he wanted us to come in for another visit before he wrote a pt prescription. This is very poor professionalism as there is nothing more dr Rumach could do other than charge me again and refer us to their pt guy. read more

So here is a true story. I am a doctor myself. I had a horribly broken lower leg. I had already had other doctors attempt to mend it. It had an external fixator on it. Dr. Rumack told me he could get the bones to heal and that I would need surgery. After already being through several surgeries, I asked Dr. Rumack "Look, don't attempt this if you remotely think you cant handle it. Just refer me to someone who can. Please dont experiment on me. Ive been through too much". Dr. Rumack examined the x-rays and MRI images. He assured me that he was the one to handle my situation. I agreed to the surgery. When I awoke from the anesthesia, Dr. Rumack had a cast on my leg from my ankle to my hip, even though it was only my lower leg that was broken. He told me that he was unsuccessful, that it was too complicated, that he couldnt handle it, and that and that it was a job for a specialist . He referred me to another doctor who DID proper surgery and properly treated and saved my leg. And then Dr. Rumack billed and collected his $6500.00. read more
