Tried this place for the first time this month and it was great, it's such a small cute little building. We ordered the combo plate for take out. We chose the General Tao's chicken and Almond Guy Ding and got an extra egg roll. My favourite was the fried rice, I really enjoyed the flavour. Unfortunately I didn't really like the egg rolls, they tasted like they had too much black pepper to me. Overall a good experience and I will be going back. From the name of the restaurant I really wasn't expecting Chinese food! I ordered the set menu for three. I found the food to be okay, I do wish the fried rice had more chicken and wish there was more variety in the menus for party dinners. My favorites were the garlic spare ribs and the almond guy ding. They also serve fries, poutine, burgers and milkshakes. So to get a full review I definitely have to go back to try more of the menu. read more

Absolutely love this place. My usual order is the Cantonese Chow Mien, the house special fried rice and their egg rolls. I have not found one thing I do not like, but then I kinda stick to the usual and alternate between Lemon Chicken, Chop Suey and General Tao's Chicken. Their service is friendly and fast. Chips and dairy is a mix of both Chinese food and chip truck style menu. For their Chinese menu, it is your typical take out Chinese menu. The flavor of their food is really good and they have one of the better General Taos chicken in the city. The egg rolls they serve are closed ended which aren't my favorite, but aren't bad. For their chips truck food, I have only really tried their poutine. Not because the food isn't any good, but because I am so addicted to the poutine that I don't want to try anything else. This is truly one of the "If you know, you know..." kind of places that you only hear about in the movies. This business is as close to the community as you can get. A small family run business that thrives on being honest and innovative. I've been coming here for years, practically since me and my friends got our first driver's license and the ability to drive ourselves. It's hard to explain the concept of C&D to people who have never experienced it first hand. It's a Chinese restaurant... but also serves you a slice of Canadian-a with their hot dogs, burgers, milkshakes and poutines! The Chinese menu is great if you are looking to feed more than 2 people. The food is prepared fresh and they have some of the best beef with broccoli I have ever tasted. Most places the broccoli is soft and soggy but at C&D they somehow managed to keep the greens from becoming soft and its amazing. I haven't lived in Ottawa in almost 6 years and whenever I go back to visit my family, I try to sneak in a meal from here. This time I went back for Mother's day and I was really happy to see that C&D were following very strict Covid-19 precautions for the safety of their staff and customers. They are only allowing one customer in at a time given how small the cash area is and there is a giant plexiglass barrier that separates the customer from the staff. The debit machines are pushed up front so you can do touchless tap and go. One of the best poutine I have had. I am here on business and this place was recommended to me. I barely ever give a 5 star... but the young girl up front taking orders was great. Very attentive and moved the line up along. After prepping the final touches of any take out orders... she made sure all continents are required. Great service and again... best poutine in town! Place serve Chinese food... burgers, fries and SHAKES... ice cream. Looks like a family ran business... and needs more locals and foodies to give this place a try. Usually it's not bad, but I decided to get a combo, it comes with two hotdogs and a poutine. Here's the problem, you guys put the combo together, guess what happens, the poutine becomes terrible, why? Because you have lack of gravy, lack of cheese curds, so your poutine sucks, then the dogs are mush because of the condensation, more over you guys were tight, aka cheap with the topping on the hot dogs. . And the paper that holds your dogs gets into your poutine. This combo should be in Separate containers. Not bang for your buck. read more

A surprising gem in the middle of the suburbs. For such a small and unassuming building, this place pumps out a huge assortment of Chinese-Canadian and chipwagon style food. Their Chinese combo plates are great, and their poutine and milkshakes are just as good. Always pick up s few egg rolls!! As it us a small site, the parking lot can get pretty full, and the interior can get cramped, but calling for takeout is also always an option. Since it was our first time here we took a while to choose what we wanted, and when we finally settled I felt the person behind the counter was annoyed that we took so long. Anyways after our order was ready we were talking and we didn't hear it being called. When I did get the poutine from the guy, he wasn't really nice about it. They were pretty busy so maybe that's why he was annoyed, but I don't think that should be an excuse. The food: Poutine was fresh, and hot so had to wait a little to eat it. I thought the cheese was delicious, but did not like the gravy. The fries were average. Price: Paid $9.48, I thought it was way overpriced. Atmosphere: Diner, clean and neat. This is a traditional old-school diner that has the usual burgers, milkshakes, fries and the like. However, in an odd and unexpected twist, they also present Chinese food! Not sure how this happens, as this place does NOT look like a place that would serve chinese food (it looks like an all-American casual diner), but I think the ownership is now East Asian, as the friendly people behind the counter would suggest. Anyways, I went with the traditional burger, fries and chocolate shake combo, and it was good and filling. The fries were a bit too greasy for my liking, but I guess thats expected. My buddy though went with Shanghai noodles and chicken stirfry, which he was raving about. Each combo went for about $9-$10, which I found to be a bit steep. I've been a visitor here for almost 10 years and it's my favourite place for poutine. The poutine is fantastic with a thick, dark gravy, and real cheese curds. The fries are crispy yet soft giving the gravy a great means to reach your mouth. The portion is very generous and you might need a friend to help out (but they can buy their own, hate yourself later). When I go here, it's for their comfort food goodness. I've ordered the hotdog and the burger combos. The hot dog combo comes with two hot dogs and a side of fries (which you can upgrade to a poutine because duh), they're cooked in a way that makes them crispy and greasy, just the way the lord intended. The burger's nothing to write home about, it's a piece of meat in a bun with your choice of toppings. It's good, but i'd recommend the hot dogs more. Service is generally friendly and the food is well worth the wait, believe me. I've yet to order the Chinese food here because I am a creature of habit but I'll give it a shot next time (maybe). And to finish it off I really like the swirly soft serve cones. Creamy and tasty, it's soft serve there's not much else to say about it. I've stolen sips of the chocolate milkshake and that's very good as well being. It's very thick so I'll stick with a cone. read more

I've been there a few times in the past 4 months and I get a milkshake every single time. They have the best milkshake that I have ever had. Parking's great. They have their own parking lot and it's very spacious. There are tables inside and outside, so it's very accommodating. They also have a play structure for kids right outside, which would be a fun place for the children to have fun while the guardians finish eating. They have a decent menu with lots of options. The restaurant surprised me since it serve regular fast food as well as Chinese food. I've never tried the fast food (except the milkshake), but the Chinese food is great! They give big portions and the 2 options combo can easily feed 2 adults. Personally, I find that it's a little expensive, but others may find that the price is very reasonable. (Ex. 5$ for a large milkshake, 13$ for a 2 options combo) Overall, it's a pretty great place! read more

I dream of this place! theyre notoriously known for their Poutine... but damn their Chinese food is ON POINT!!!!!! they have that brown soy saucy East Coast Fried rice thats chewier than the fried rice we have on the west coast, and they utilize long grain rice as well. Anything we've tried from here has just "meh". Very bland flavours all the way around. There's another Chinese takeout that isn't too far away with a similar Chinese menu & far better flavour (cheaper too). Ginkgo Garden. Don't take my word for it, check it for yourself.
