Their homemade tortillas were the best I've ever had from any restaurant. Service was good for takeout and I love the look of the restaurant. I noticed they had several frozen drink machines so I'm sure it's a great place to get a frozen margarita. Ambiance nice and it was overall good food. We'll definitely come back when we have the time.

It was…read moreCinco de Mayo and even though we were there late afternoon, there was a continuous flow of folks coming in. We tried dishes that were new to us. We started with Cauldo de Cameron soup. We were warned that the portion size was large and it was. We were expecting a spicy seafood broth with vegetables but the broth was lacking. The shrimp was large and cooked well. Most of this went uneaten. Next up was the Cancun Fajita. This was a large portion of chicken, shrimp and krab sticks with mushrooms, peppers and onions all grilled. It came with the beans, rice and fajita fixings. Served sizzling, the protein was cooked perfectly and the sides were left untouched. Lastly, the El J's Alambre was ordered. This was shrimp, steak, bacon, and chicken over some grilled onions and a few vegetables in a cheese sauce. Again, the usual sides were served but no room to eat them, as more than 2/3 rds of this dish was packed up. Service was fine and the margaritas were fine for a mix.

(like one small piece of green and red pepper and the rest was straight up onions so that was kind of disappointing.) the flavor of the chicken was good. i ate everything but i would say just average food hence the three stars. not the best, not the worst.

These are our favorite Mexican restaurant dishes, so we know what we're looking for.. The carne was mostly tomatoes that tasted like they were from a can with SOME seasoning and a whole lot of spice to overwhelm any other flavor. The rice was pretty good, but the refried beans also tasted canned. My husband's enchiladas were very mediocre.. not good or terrible. And the salsa that came with it also tasted canned and again, too spicy to get any other flavor. Picture the Tostitos jarred salsa, but make it spicy. Unfortunately, we won't be ordering from here again.

I got a beef burrito. The beef was unseasoned and I ended up spitting pieces of it out as I went because of the char taste. And not the good char taste, the burnt old grease taste. There was sour cream in the burrito, but since there was also the fake guac, the taste of the sour cream and mayo was overpowering. Was there even any cheese in it? There was nothing redeemable about this meal.

I looked at the board to see what they offered and wasn't sure where to begin. The wonderful woman by the door handed me a paper menu and asked if I had been there before. Once she learned I was new, she walked me through the menu. I went with the Build Your Own burrito bowl; though you can build your own tacos, burritos, quesadillas or nachos. You start by picking your favorite protein, I went with Barbacoa. Then you add as many fresh free toppings as you would like. I can say that I ate about half and took the rest home. My husband went with a mix & match taco basket, with a side of chorizo refried beans. The chorizo refried beans are so good, kind of jealous, though my black beans were also good. Next time, I may get the chorizo refried beans on my burrito bowl because, yes, they are part of the fresh free toppings. I also tried their Cucumber margarita, as I was a day too early for the Watermelon margarita. The bartender suggested adding jalapenos to the cucumber margarita next time. That was so tasty! You order from the counter and they bring the food to your table. While it seems like counter service, everyone was so attentive it was like have multiple servers taking care of everything.
